Alvaro Recoba told Gazzetta this today:

RECOBA: I'm so happy for Marco, he deserved to win the world cup like nobody else. So many people are against him, nobody gives him anything apart from cruel labels, but he didn't give up. Now he's a world champion, the biggest possible achievement for a footballer. Right in the face of people who are rotten jealous of it. Now I hope they'll stop all the insults that I heard in almost every stadium we've been. Italian fans, you have to be proud of Marco.

Unfortunately, there are even Inter fans who refuse to stand by Marco.

That is truly a shame, indeed.

So despite evidence to the contrary, you still persist in rejecting quoted evidence that the racial card was never once brought up in Materazzi's taunting of Zidane?

That's how conspiracy theories start, Khaled.

Oh and, we all know Materazzi said something to Zidane; that is a given. However, Zidane acted in a barbaric manner, and should rightfully be punished.

The whole issue stems from the fact that it was Zidane who over-reacted. If the tables were turned, and it was Matrix who appropriated violence as a response to Zidane's criticism, then, my gut opinion is that nobody would be standing up for the guy.

The question is, would you even care?

Ciao,
Tim

would i even care about what?

if you notice in my post i am saying I THINK like your are saying MY GUT OPINION,its a matter of opinion,i never said what zidane did was right and i never said he shouldnt be punished, but so does materazzi,he said something if it was racial,he should be punished,if it was mother related, then zidane was right to headbutt the guy,i woulld have, anyone would have.

I never said materazzi SAID something racial but i said i still think there is a posibillity that he did say something racial, maybe materazzi did say anything about blacks or white but he may have said something islamic, which to me is racial, you dont know for sure he did or didnt say that, thats why i said"I Still Think materazzi could have said something racial",i didnt say "materazzi said something racial"

Mancini will have big problems with defense ... he'll not know with whom to play ... Samuel - Cordoba or Samuel - Matrix ... LB and RB are already known ... i dont know Maxwell very well ... but i know Grosso ... a great back ... as in atack also in defensive ... nothing for JZ ... we all know him ... can someone tell me how old is Maicon ... is he young

Why is it a shame? If he did a heroic thing for Inter and he was criticized for it, then it would be a shame indeed.

Besides, like I said before (LONG before this controversey) Materazzi is a liar that uses propoganda to enhance his image. Why am I supposed to support him if I think negatively of him to start with?

I think being the only Italian player to score in the WC final along with being the team's top scorer, not to mention facing as much critcism before the tourney for merely his inclusion in the squad, putting in that type of performance is pretty damn heroic. Being able to overcome all of that, score a goal in the final, then slot home a penalty under the most extreme pressure for what had taken place beforehand on the pitch is pretty heroic. Add to that the fact that he was the only "real" Inter player in the team at the time and to come away a world champion now that is indeed heroic in my eyes Hamed. What does the guy have to do to gain your respect? Cure cancer?

Now your trying to tell us that Marco lied not only to the media but to the FIFA tribunal about what took place on the pitch? Come now Hamed is that not getting a little ahead of ourselves here? I see no way that Marco could have sought to positively propogate this incident and the fact that he apologized to Zidane shows that he was the bigger man in this instance. Afterall was he not a victim as well?

I suppose skill and fame grants you certain priviliges outside of the football pitch as well in some people's eyes.

I didn't like Materazzi that much before...in fact I hated him a couple of years ago. After a while I started embracing him...and after his performances in the WC, I love him. MATRIX for President!!!

Lets see...

At least its decent to see some people jumping on the bandwagon now, enjoy the ride...:irritate:

Helala ,mate you didnt put me in the list:cry:

always had time for Matrix, always will

fkn even Schumacher the crazy german keeper of the 80s copped less shit than Matrix,

whats funny is how many other fans including some juve scum are loving matrix at the moment literally jumping on the bandwagon.

i personally love the bloke, and i claim if matrix played in the earlier era of football he would have been more respected than in the modern era.

every decade had a butcher, hacker KILLER,

not every decade has produced a hacker, killer, butcher that scored in the biggest game of all, world cup final and left a monumental mozaic in the process of modern football.

people can say what they want but ive seen worse HACKERS out there who wouldnt even get close to cleaning Marcos boots.

Marco i salute you,bro

I really love Matrix and it's not because his wc performance, it is since much before. Sadly, it seems that some people here will never like him, no matter what he does. It's sad because he's a great player and he's shown some passion for the nerazzurri shirt. Hopefully, I'll see him more minutes in the pitch, where he deserves to be

Forza Marco! :star:

I feel offended not to be on the list. I've been defending his ass off with the guys in that list for a half of a year now.

Because i'm from the Netherlands, i know Maxwell very well. It's a great leftback, his very attacking playstyle and his rushes are the key abilities.

I think Inter will use him as a left midfielder, what means that Grosso and Maxwell can be lined-up together in 1 team.

Right, as the FI members found out about this earlier than any other forum :)D), I can make the first comment.

FIFA will be very busy from now on to investigate every single provocation and insult on the pitch. There's no way they would have handed out this PATHETIC sentence if there were other players involved. I do condemn insults on the pitch, but it's a part of the game, we cannot deny that.
Now when Materazzi has been suspended and fined, FIFA will have to act the same towards every single incident where a player provoke someone else. Doubt that's gonna happen though.

As for Zidane, since he has retired, his punishment is a petty fine and three community service days with FIFA. Yeah, I bet he's gonna have to do some real labour-work with them. The worst thing that might happen if he has to lick stamps for three days.

So in the end, Materazzi was the one who got punished. If at least he had said something racist, then I wouldn't have complained. But to receive two-match suspension for a non-racist abuse. Hilarious!

Screw FIFA!

I did't say he lied to FIFA. The lie I was talking about is him pretending to love and bleed for Inter while asking for a trade to Bologna in the middle of a tough season for us. I said that Materazzi has a history of lying (for me at least) so why should he get our support?

Screw FIFA indeed, bunch of clowns who don’t know anything about the game is what they are. What a stupid way to end this. I mean it was so obvious that their main task was to tarnish Matrix’s image while painting a fancy rose on Zidane’s head. Talk about blowing things out of proportion!!

For the love of...gee Hamed, when you dont like someone you will do anything to disagree with them. I garuntee you that you would see the truth for any other player.

Mazzone wanted him there because of their history together, Matrix said he would be willing to go and play if thats what the club wanted.

edit: Matrix at the moment was having a horrid time at inter, he wasnt playing, things were going wrong etc.. He asked Moratti if you dont want me I will gladly leave to Bologna, Moratti said your untransferable so they both agreed to sign a contract until 2009. Pretty much what Recoba does every year.

No biggie.
