Some of the goals he scored were incredible. Not even strikers could execute them as good as Matrix, and that 06/07 season was fire as he scored quite a few goals IIRC.

I wish we had a player like him these days. He was not one to fuck around with. But then again, game has gone soft and players like Materazzi are dying breed.

Materazzi: ‘Oaktree won’t make same Milan error'

“Oaktree will confirm with the directors that they won’t make the same Milan error with Maldini and Massara,” Materazzi told Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 19.

I don’t think Oaktree will make the same error as the other team of Milan, who pushed out competent people like Maldini and Mascara and used them as scapegoats, perhaps because they overshadowed somebody else,” he continued.

Paolo was even right about De Ketelaere. I understand that one must make the investors’ interests, but It seems evident that it’s worth gambling on Inter.”
I'm still not convinced by De Ketelaere
Milan sacked Maldini and Massara in 2023 after the end of RedBird’s first season at the helm of the club. Oaktree took control of Inter earlier this week after ex-President Steven Zhang failed to repay a loan of nearly €400m including interests.

“It’s a shame because Suning built and won a lot,” said Materazzi.
“The positive thing is that the management will remain the same; changing it would be a fatal error.

Inter are doing well, not only on the pitch. Even at Liverpool, a fund took over and won all they could. A fund where people like LeBron James are involved. I’d not be surprised if there were people like these behind Oaktree.”
Yes, keep this management
Suning won seven titles during its eight-year reign, including two Scudetti. Therefore, Materazzi is grateful to Zhang.

Thanks for keeping the promises. He wanted to bring Inter to the top of Europe and the world and he nearly made it,” said the ex-defender.

Hats off to what he did. Now, a new adventure begins, and consistency is needed. I think Oaktree has already studied Inter and knows they are a respected family in the world. The stadium is always sold out, the club is pushing in the right direction. Before COVID, it was unthinkable to reach these levels. The same is true of Italian football, which seems far away from the big clubs in Europe, but in the end, we always reach European finals. We may have less money than the English, but we have more ideas and determination. This is how Italy is made.”
Thanks Steven

Oaktree’s takeover means Lautaro and Barella may need to wait a little longer to put pen to paper on a contract extension, but Materazzi is confident both stars will eventually commit his future at the club. In saying so, he also taunted ex-Inter defender Skriniar, who left at the end of his contract last summer, and Milan.

“The important thing is that there is clarity. Lautaro and Barella are the captains and I am sure they won’t have problems waiting for a transition that requires a technical timing,” said Materazzi.

“It’s not the directors’ fault. What I understand is that all parties want to continue together. I’d also accept to wait a little longer for my favourite club because, with all the respect due, they are not called Milan, like Skriniar.”

Materazzi: Many players regret ‘turning their backs on Inter’

Materazzi released an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport:

The Nerazzurri have already signed Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi for free, plus Josep Martinez from Genoa for €15m.

Have they already won ‘the title’ for the best signings in Italy’s top flight this summer?
“For now, yes. I like all the signings so much. After all, Marotta and Ausilio never made errors,” said Materazzi.
“There is room for improvement, but with these reinforcements, it won’t be easy to build a better team than last season.”
Bit far fetched? 😅

Inter dominated in the latest Serie A campaign but were eliminated pretty early from the Champions League, losing to Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16.
“The Serie A title must be the main target but the team has been built perfectly,” insisted Materazzi.
“Inter deserved to win the title last season and would have deserved it two years ago as well when Milan eventually won. In Europe, it’s different. More top-level clubs are just as well-equipped, if not better.”
Yeah, we still regret that title..

How about coach Simone Inzaghi?
“He’s had a massive impact and everyone can see it,” said the ex-Italy defender.
“He is one of the reasons behind Inter’s triumphs and as an Inter fan, I am happy he’s been confirmed for the long term.”
For sure

After months of negotiations, Lautaro Martinez has agreed to sign a contract extension with the Nerazzurri.
“Signing a new contract until 2029 clearly signals his commitment,” noted Materazzi.
“He’s a real Interista, unlike others who filled their mouths with these words and signed for different clubs. Many turned their backs on Inter over the last three or four years, but they regretted it.”
Lukaku & Skriniar dig?

Taremi is one of the new summer signings. Could he potentially replace Marcus Thuram in the starting XI this season?
“I don’t think so. Marcus has proved to be a first-choice and one of the top five, if not top three, strikers in Serie A,” Materazzi replied.
“He is young and is perfectly in sync with Lautaro. Let me say more. If it were up to me, I’d line up a team with Thuram and ten more players.”
I can imagine Matrix would have had problems defending against the pace of Marcus

How about the most dangerous opponent for Inzaghi and his team?
“I see Napoli well. Conte is a coach who knows how to prepare his players, and Napoli, as a club, has been handling many changes without losing enthusiasm. Think about the title they won despite selling Mertens, Koulibaly, Fabian Ruiz, and Ospina,” concluded Materazzi.
Makes sense and they don't have to worry about Europe. However, the evil force will be always juBentus.

Materazzi offers advice to Frattesi, reveals Milan snub for Inter

Marco Materazzi insists Davide Frattesi should stay at Inter in January and reveals he snubbed an offer from Milan in 2006: ‘You know the rest of the story…’

Inter legend Materazzi urges Frattesi to stay at Inter and snub interest from his ex-club Roma.
If I were Frattesi, I would not make hasty decisions. I also wanted to leave in 2006, but I didn’t, and it was the best decision I made in my ten years at Inter,” Materazzi told Gazzetta.

“I didn’t play much with Mancini, and I feared I would not be part of Lippi’s squad [for the 2006 World Cup]. In January, I was offered a chance to join Milan. The pride could have pushed me to accept that proposal, but I had a second thought. You know the rest of the story.”

Frattesi is not a regular Inter starter but still gets considerable playing time under Simone Inzaghi, who has often publicly praised the Italian midfielder.“
It’s an important signal that Frattesi should consider, even if he’d like to play more,” said Materazzi.
“He has earned everyone’s respect at Inter, and the club made a significant financial sacrifice to sign him. The coach strongly wanted him, and the fans saw him as an absolute protagonist in last season’s Scudetto. He scored his first Inter goal in the derby and has netted many other crucial goals.

“The situation in Roma is entirely different, complicated by results,” warned the ex-defender.

“There’s also a risk of over-exposure in Rome, where nothing is forgiven. Like Frattesi, Pellegrini is a product of the club academy, but he experienced tricky moments before the goal in the derby.”
The latest reports suggest Frattesi has not asked to leave Inter in January, but his agent is pushing for a transfer behind the scenes.

Frattesi must listen to himself and understand what he really wants,” Materazzi concluded. He must be clear with Inzaghi, as clarity is fundamental.”
Matrix to the rescue?
