Goals conceded is SO MUCH better and also amount of defeats is very good. Now when we have better funds for building the squad for next season, we can turn those draws to victories and keep securing CL money flow.

Despite the fact I have some reasonable doubts about his coaching philosophy and tactical conservativism (which I explained in one of my earlier posts) I do think he deserves the chance to lead this team in CL campaign. I still highly doubt he will be the man to lead this club to glory on both domestic and European scene but stability is important and until we are able to bring world class coach here, let him stay...

I agree for the most part, stability is key and Spalletti is undoubtedly a very good coach. He has his tendencies and can sometimes be irrationally
stubborn aswell but overall he is undoubtedly a very good coach.

I also agree on the fact that I feel he wont be leading us to glory neither domestic nor European but I DO believe he can take us one step closer. Unless Diego or someone else TIER 1 coaches becomes available and which we can get, theres no reason to change him as things is now!

Spalletti is good for at our current and coming phase. We are far from glory days and we can think about coach when we are getting closer to really competing for trophies.

My fear with Spalletti is we will crumble badly in CL and are crushed in pressure. Remembering Roma getting raped in Old Trafford and such. On the other hand, we've managed some good games or results in pressure moments this season on the contrary.

That was over 10 years ago. I think he has learnt a lot since then. Hopefully...

He's definitely the guy to give us stability over the next 2-3 years. I don't think he will win us any trophies but I hope he does.

In my opinion this guy is hands-down the best coach we have had since Jose. However, one thing that annoyed me (as an armchair specialist that I am) throughout the season were his substitutions: mostly late, and uninspired (see Santon vs Juventus).

Tonight I was yelling at the screen for him to sub Vecino as soon as possible. Also, it didn't even cross my mind to bring Rano in while the score was still level. Instead he kept Vecino, who scored the winner; and brough in Frog, who had a positive impact both at the goal and for defending the lead.

Hats off to Luciano! I considered him partially responsible for the loss vs Juventus, due to the uninspired subs; as such it is only fair to commend him for his inspiration vs Lazio. Who knows if we would've still won, had he made the substitutions I requested from my armchair.

All in all, a miracle happened last night, one that I did not think possible till the 80th minute. Let's see what this guy can do if the owners keep their promise, and invest in the squad accordingly.

It's Raining good posts.

Just give him a midfield like Roma's and he might do something big.

Best manager we've had since Mourinho left. No doubt about it.

Like Indiana Jones in "The Last Crusade", he succeeded where all who came before him had failed, retrieving the Holy Grail (CL) and saving his dying father's (Inter) life. The real (fictional) Indiana Jones also managed to bed the hot female archaeologist in the process, but that would have been asking too much, I guess.

Credit to him.

He made some mistakes, especially with subs, but he's also shown that he can correct certain things.

He realized Brozovic's best position and also that Gagliardini is better in a different role compared to one at the start of the season. He also realized Borja cannot be a starter at this level.

The only mistake that I believe he made consistently was with Candreva. That has to do with his lack of trust in younger players like Karamoh, I believe. However, Candreva has been absolutely terrible for the majority of the season.

Well Mancini didn't really have the luxury of getting CL with 4th spot. He achieved 4th spot, which much less drama and effort.

Without Italy receiving that extra spot, we wouldn't be in CL.

With Mancini, we probably would have choked if we knew that the 4th spot would bring us the CL. We were in huge downfall for pretty much all second part of that season.

Lol Mancini had a huge fight with several first teamers against Lazio.

That would have been fitting if that happened in our final game decider for CL.

Let's not forget Mancini moulded the squad as he saw fit. When the winter mercato came, he asked for Éder and management delivered. They appeased most, if not all of his wishes.

Spalletti fell for the "Inter is coming BS" and had to settle for a team with basically no bench, even though he was promised significant reinforcements. He and his grandmother asked for a defender in the winter, and they got him Lisandro López. He achieved the same 4th spot, but with less resources.

This is if someone blindly sees 4th spot as the result. Mancini ended 4th place with 67 points. 5 points less than Spalletti. 13 points behind 3rd place, 3 points ahead 5th. And that season, Milan and Lazio were nowhere to be seen.

Ranking 4th with 3 spots is a lot harder than 4th with 4 spots.

- In case 1 if teams see the first 3 positions were settled, they give zero care about upcoming matches (or even try to avoid 4th-5th, not to waste energy in Europa League).

- In case 2 teams are motivated as fuck to grab the final 4th spot.

So I disagree that Mancini achieved the same. His 4th spot back then was as hard as the 5th in current season.

Spalletti has done his bit. Now its up to Don Ausilio and Suning. If they invest big and well as is required, I am sure Spalletti can take Inter into the next level.

PS: Good to see no one at FIF screaming about sacking the coach this summer. It will be a first in a long, long time. We need more of these.
