ANDREA PIRLO...we developed them all,

So, blame the fucking idiots who sell our great youths just before they turn out great. Nothing wrong with our coaching!
:palm: so embarrassing...

Since when do 19 year olds not count as young players who can be coached? :serious:

He not a product of Inter's youth system. He came to Inter as a 1st team player.

Is Castaignos a product of Inter's Youth now?

Pirlo never played for our youth team. If that's not what you mean by youth sector, then not sure why you bothered posting a list of primavera trophies. We signed him after he had already been a professional for 2 years and he spent his time here either out on loan or on the bench. We hardly developed him. Brescia and Reggina developed him far more than we did.

And Pandev never played a minute here. Our biggest contribution to his development was selling him. Same with Pirlo really.

edit: correction, Pandev did play 1 season with our youth squad before being loaned out, so you could argue we 'developed' him

While my focus was on youth team, I did also mean young players in general. I mean, with Pirlo, we had a chance to take a raw product started by someone else and trasform it into the best midfielder in Serie A. Instead, as usual, we didn't show faith in the talented young stars and sold him on just before he became great. We train them up, don't give them any playing time, they find said playing time elsewhere and show the potential they always had, and we look like idiots. Even if our young players stick around long enough to start making first team appearances, there usually aren't many of them, and then get sold on. I mean, would anyone argue that Castaignos wasn't a young player we were trying to develop? He was not club trained but I don't think anyone would count him as a non-young non-developmental player. We wasted him by not giving him many opportunities and selling him after a single season. Doesn't mean he didn't learn much from our coaching team, just that Ranieri and Gasp were fools...

This. People should stop complaining about Castaignos really.

We're just trying to help his development by selling him, and preventing to hinder his development any further than we already have. We're doing this for the good of Castaignos, and for us as well, so that we don't have to pay his wage any longer just for him to sit on the bench.

As for Pirlo, we got a pretty large fee if I remember correctly. Plus we brought in Emre that summer who was younger and very highly rated. In retrospect we obviously should have held onto Pirlo, but there's no guarantees he would have developed into half the player he is now under Cuper instead of Ancelotti.

Not sure how you can draw such a line between youth development and youth integration. So we trained, educated and developed Castaignos just fine, but just didn't give him the chances? Or maybe he was shit awful in training and wasn't developing at all and that's why he got no chances? Or we tried to send him on loan when it became clear he wasn't going to get the time he needed and he refused? Can't blame Gasp or Ranieri for not playing him (or other youth players) either. Why would they want to throw some teenage nobodies out there when they're trying to win and keep their jobs from week to week? In theory, we're supposed to be building a long term project under Strama, which should allow for more 'risks' to be taken for the sake of youth development, but I'll believe it when I see it.

And really, no matter what, the vast majority of promising youth players are going to be sold. Some will turn out to be good, like the several ones you listed. But, then for every one that turns out decent, there's half a dozen that are never heard from again.

edit: and to keep this on topic, fuck Lucas.

We tried to aid his development by loaning him out, but he spat out his dummy and refused. He thought he knew better than Inter.

Guy is an idiot and has wasted an opportunity.

I don't even know why we have separate threads anymore. You can read a full page and not have a clue what the thread topic is.

If Gotze was geattable he wouldn't be "alternative" to Lucas. At least he shouldn't be.

Thats just another hatchet job by the press.

Realistically, if we were trying to sign Lucas, we wouldn't have given Coutinho the 7 shirt. it makes no sense to hinder his development further by spending millions on Lucas because 1 of them with have to be a sub unless the whole system is change or Wes is sold?

I think this is just a red herring. We'd be better off spending the same money on Damiao.

There is a very good financial reason why Pandev Never played a single senior game for Inter until he returned after his time at Lazio.

Lucas Moura is a nobody. Mario Goetze is a beast. Just go for Gaston Ramirez, he is proven in serie a, better than alejandro gomez, cheaper than lucas. it would be a fair deal
