''Lucas Moura is a nobody'' is certainly a well-thought post and adds significant substance to the discussion.

Mario Goetze possible destinations after Dortmund are: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, PSG.

Clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern aren't option because they can't pay the price just like they couldn't pay for Hazard or they will not be able to pay for Neymar in the future.

Clubs like Inter, Tottanham, Atletico Madrid, Valencia aren't option for player like Goetze because they can't pay and aren't atractive enough for briliant talents like Goetze, Neymar or Muller.

Lucas is on the edge, he is talented but not atractive enough to be superstar.

For the few still interested in Lucas rumors.

Sao Paolo's sporting director says that the negotiations with United have ended without reaching a conclusion. So It would appear ManU are no longer in the running (probably too busy with RVP). Gazzetta claims this makes us front runners once again. Sao Paolo are now interested in getting Lucas to sign an extension.

My take,

Sao Paolo felt they had a chance to hike the price with multiple clubs interested plus a great olympics showing. Unfortunately for them Lucas didn't feature in the olympics and ManU backed off. So now they have to try to convince a player who seems to have been excited by the prospect of playing in Europe to stay, which means they have to strike a new deal to keep him. Inter will probably try to work with the players' agent and father so they can help force the deal.

Yeah, but it sucks since now our management will see this through, possibly till the end of the mercato. And possibly they will pay something ridiculous like 25m€. Other option would be to buy a cheaper option and spread the money to other reinforcements. In a faster pace so that we could have those new players at Strama's disposal sooner than later.

I'd rather give 30m € for Lucas, then 3x10 m for 30-year old average rotation players (read Mudingayi, Palacio (even though he looks pretty good so far))..

Lucas has a chance to be a world class star and the others don't..

I don't think we would have finished the Mercato at this point even if Lucas had not been a target.

Negotiations take time, it likely will be well into August before some real transfer movements start going, unless you are Chelsea and money is no object then you use the time to negotiate the best deal possible. Look at Poli, his agent said he was sick of waiting and since then he has, well, been waiting. RVP's situation is still not resolved and he announced he wasn't renewing a while back. Juve have needed a striker since last season and they still don't have one.

Basically there is still time in the Mercato, I would recommend not getting the hopes up for daily conclusions in the transfer market. It will be another 2 weeks of rumors and speculations it seems.

Yes, I totally know that. But I think (fear) that we will see this Lucas case through and it will take a lot of time, till the end of mercato before it is resolved, one way or another. If we can't still get him, we will make a panic move at the last day of the mercato or close to it.

If it is not Lucas we will lineup someone like Gomez. You typically have discussions and terms ready just in case one deal falls through that you can finalize another in good time.

I don't think we will pull something as stupid as the Forlan signing (IMHO dumbest mercato move in recent memory).

Alejandro or Mario? I will assume you mean Alejandro Gomez. Honestly, I really wonder about Inter's sincerity re: the Lucas deal. Seems like something to get the fans excited, more than a realistic attempt to sign a top youth prospect.

i don't even bother if this was ironic. Lucas Moura in ascpect of european football IS nobody. Gaston Ramierez, Alejandro Gomez and Mario Goetze are somebodies ;) :pazzini:

In my opinion, I consider any "keeping the fans excited" to be conspiracy theorists talk. All club managers care about is trying to build a team. You gain no advantage from getting fans' hopes up for a month and then leaving them disappointed for a full season. Club officials who have been here this long cannot value short term fan optimism all that much. If we are going to be linked with someone to raise hopes, why not neymar. No, Lucas is a Strama target, this is the concensus of nearly all the reporters who have invistigated this, whether it is Sky, Gazzetta or Tuttosport, they all say that Lucas is a real target.

I fully believe we are serious about Lucas, but are trying to get a reasonable deal.

If I had any confirmation that Inter has a 30m tessoretto I would be questioning what are they waiting moving on and finding someone else.

I think its just more hatchet job by the press.

agree. they could invest this money in šahin + some defender....if they intend to splash 30 million euros, splash it on players we really need.

Who we "need" is a very subjective matter. If Strama feels we really really need a quick right winger more than we do a defender or midfielder then Lucas becomes a player we really need. If management agree with the coaches assessment they will target Lucas, the opinion of some fans on the internet doesn't factor in to their decision sadly.

Just out of interest, and i'm asking rather than being sarcastic.

The Lucas hype has been building for a year or so now, Ganso was also billed as the next big thing. Oscar has had a slowly growing rep without the hype which now seems to have put him above Ganso and Lucas in the pecking order.

Is it a case of Santos and Sao Paulo over hyping them or was it Internacional under valuing Oscar?

Also, in all of this, where does Coutinho compare because when we signed him, although I had heard of Oscar, all of the others were nowhere to be seen.......... Perhaps Douglas Costa or Willian (more massively hyped youngsters) would be a more sensible purchase than Lucas as the hype has died down and we've seen what they can do in europe??

It's easy, Santos and Sao Paulo are over hyping their players. It has always been like that.

And also, I agree, i'd get europe proven players, cheaper ones, rather than Lucas.

I am one of Lucas's biggest fans but I agree that splashing 25-30 million for him is madness.

I understand that Moratti probably sees another Ronaldo in Lucas. As I think Snake mentioned before, most of FIF users became Inter fans because of Ronaldo. Hell, probably most of Inter fans became Inter fans because of Ronaldo. If Lucas turns to be who he is supposed to be that could put Inter back on the map. Just think about the jersey sales and how it could help our finances.

Yes, it's a gamble but how big of a gamble is it? Would Lucas live up to the expectations? Would he be the next Ronaldo? or would he fail and be another Denilson?

TBH, I've had my doubts about Lucas. Sometimes I think he could be a superstar at Inter but then I think about what would happen if he fails?! I think that it is too risky of a deal. Probably a risk not worth taking.

I'm happy that for once the management are actually listening to the needs of our coach. That for me is a good sign.

I love watching Lucas and I can't wait to see him in our jersey. But as I said earlier I'm undecided. So, I think best is to just wait and see what happens.

I expect our management to act fast. That's the most important point IMO. If they want Lucas they should get him now. If they don't want Lucas they should go look for other options.

I'm tired of Inter signing 30 year old mediocre players just to watch them flop and get their contracts terminated after a year. Quality over Quantity!

Lucas or no Lucas, I want quality players. And no panic buys on the last day of mercato!

What I hope is that Inter manage to get Lucas for a good price. It should be easier negotiating with Sao Paulo now that Lucas is not doing much in the Olympics.
But that's just wishful thinking..
