It wasn't even his worst performance and other players have played worse than this, in some critical games in the season without ever getting this treatment. In the team he is one of the players who get the stick more than the carrot despite being one of those who work the hardest.

This was totally undeserved.
I agree and Lautaro is probably pissed because he has been really a hard worker throughout the season. He really gave more than 100% in terms of effort. Not sure undeserved because he was playing too friendly.

He lost the ball so many times that it wasn't wrong to sub him. He should do better.

I can bet my house this would never have happened with Lukaku. There were plenty of games where Lukaku was stinking up the place, yet played 90 minutes, somehow this is right? I hate double standards.

Eriksen was treated worse than this (remember how he was given like 3' each match for several matches?). But he was calm, worked hard, grew up like a man. Lautaro, on the other hand, is like a child taken off his favorite toy.

If he plays like shit, he deserves to be subbed off. Nothing wrong with that.

This is wrong too. Lukaku was even insulted in front of everyone after Slavia match. Not like Conte is harsh only with Lautaro.

I may not like Conte and I also think Conte plays favourite with Lukaku in many many occasions but Conte better bench him next game to keep him in check. No excuse to act out like a little kid like that.

I agree, nothing wrong with that. As long as everybody is treated the same way which is not the case in Conte's Inter. Not at all.
When was Lukaku insulted by Conte? I might have missed that.
What I didn't miss is the several occasion where Lukaku played way worse than Lautaro today and stayed on for the whole game.

Nah, next game we need our best XI. The public humiliation tonight was enough punishment for Lautaro's laziness, and I am sure young LM10 also got a talking after. Lautaro now needs to score in the next game to make it up.

Inter forward Romelu Lukaku has revealed Antonio Conte labelled him 'rubbish' in front of all his team mates in the aftermath of a Champions League fixture earlier in the season.

What happened? Didn't see it.

Lautaro kicked a bottle of water on the sidelines while he was on his way to the bench and Conte reacted immediately.

Have respect! Who are you angry with? Never react like this again,” the coach told Lautaro according to Sky Sport Italia.

Conte didn’t release a post-match interview to avoid questions about the financial situation of the club. Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini explained what happened after the game:

“This is something that also happened to me 14 years ago when Conte was my coach and I was still a player. He substituted me after 20 minutes,” Stellini told Sky Sport Italia.

This is an example of the mentality we want to see. Even if the result is already secure, we expect all the players to give the maximum effort.

“At that moment, Lautaro was not playing up to the right standard and we want players who are always fully focused.

“Some things remain on the pitch, it’s all in the past now and we will look forward to the next match.”

> Conte mind games :notbad:

Prediction: Il Toro is tamed, scores against juBentus and contract is extended. Fuck La Liga and their clubs!

Thanks I never saw that one. But again how is this even remotely comparable to what happened tonight?

Imo, it was very unnecessary and very harsh especially with the amount of sweat Lautaro gave him this year. So many players played very bad in some moments this year and he never did that to them, why now? With the scudetto in the bag? With all the shit that's going on out of the pitch. So unnecessary.

Antonio Conte & Lautaro Martinez Involved In Fiery Spat During Inter’s Win Over Roma, Italian Media Report

Antonio Conte was involved in a heated exchange with Lautaro Martinez during Inter’s 3-1 win over Roma, as per a report in the Italian media.

Lautaro was taken off with 13 minutes left at San Siro and reacted angrily to his substitution, kicking a water bottle over his teammates in frustration.

Eurosport Italia said Conte had some very stern words for Lautaro, having watched the striker walk past him with an irritable expression.

Conte shouted at El Toro: “You need to shut up, have you understood?

“Don’t try and be a f***ing superstar.”

Conte and Lautaro’s argument is unlikely to go any further than that, with both caught up in the heat of the match, but it shows Conte has no intention of letting anyone step out of line until the end of the season.

Inter’s assistant boss Cristian Stellini said Conte wanted to teach the 23-year-old a lesson, because he will not tolerate anyone slacking off even when the Nerazzurri are winning.

Andrea Pinamonti replaced Lautaro for the closing stages and nearly scored his second goal in two games, only to clip the ball over the bar from inside the box.

Inter secured all three points anyway thanks to goals from Marcelo Brozovic, Matias Vecino and Romelu Lukaku.

I think no matter the contribution and hard work of Martinez have been this season, he was shit in this game and therefore he was subbed of. As simple as that. He still have the chances in the coming games anyway, but he acted like diva and ruined his chances.

At least he still acted in good way with Pinamonti when he was subbed of. At least he still put respect to his teammate.

Imagine being the only attacker who has to press like a striker AND defend like a center mid for a whole season, only for people to call you a diva. Smh.

A player is only as good as their last game. It doesn't matter what he has done during the season. It only matters what he did against Roma which is why he was dragged.
