Players are paid millions to obey the coach, not to be coddled.

That is the main point. It's better for the club that way. PSG for instance has too many players that do whatever they want.

Perhaps Lautaro not playing well is not the whole story behind why he got subbed out. Conte probably didn't like that he mentioned that part beforehand:
"I like Antonio Conte, but even if he leaves I’m an Inter player ....,” the striker told Libero (via FcInterNews.it) in an interview today.

According to the Gazzetta, Lautaro has apologised to the coach and team-mates. To make up for it, he's going to host an Asado for everybody after training.

Old habits die hard :D

Personally, I think a good "Fenomeno del cazzo" shouted at Lautaro is never a bad thing.

He's always quick to let his own ego inflate anyway.

His ego ? You know there is a man in the squad who self-proclamed as Top 5 in the world, right?

Exactly like I expected. Lautaro got the message and that's the end of this drama.

And Conte screams at him too -

"Rom, sei stanco?" "No" "Allora muoviti cazzo"

"Rom, se ti nascondi ancora ti tiro fuori"

Lukaku has also said that Conte publicly berated him in front of everyone during a CL half time. No-one has immunity from being dressed down, especially when they don't come in with the right attitude and/or play like shit

Lukaku does have walking immunity on the pitch which is clear from the amount of time he has been left to play 90 minutes despite being as useful as a lamp post but at this point is just rambling.

Also your coach saying you've been rubbish at half time in the secret of the locker room isn't even half as humiliating.

Ok let's just end this conversation. To me it's clear Lukaku and Lautaro don't have the same tasks when on the pitch. You can read that however you want.

As of now, I'm on Conte side. What Lukaku does has nothing to do with what Lautaro does.

One can walk all over the pitch when he wants the other one can't. I got you the first time you said it.

Your second statement is not true as well because as a Striker partnership, the work of one is important for the performance of the other.

Double standards is all that people want to get rid of.

Lukaku got his share of humiliation when he was subbed off at Dortmund for a 17 year old kid for example. But that was it. It's not like he didn't have worse days than that.

Lautaro is always the first one out. He barely played 30 minutes and was subbed off.

Was Conte yelling at him during the game? Didn't really see that.

Can`t believe how easily some FIF`ers would sell Lautaro :chan: it has been a long time since we`ve had such a talented forward and world class prospect in our forward department! Martínez is already rated above Dybala, while being 4 years younger!!!
He is showing constant signs of development and has great determination to continue. Should be among the last players to sell TBH.

Well kicking the bottle like that after being subbed, without even thinking you could open someones head of on the bench definitely screams diva a little bit. :D

#SangreCaliente! He`s latino man, easily triggered :D Not comparable with Icardi <THE diva> who faked an injury and has inflated ego.

Conte is clever enough to push the right buttons and use that grinta to get 120% out of him, just like Black Knight mentioned.

His agent Martin Camaño also confirmed that the Beneamata ‘remains the priority’, so extension will happen unless Zhang fucks up big time.

So is being subbed off in general humiliation these days? Lautaro busts himself nearly ever game, I've never seen him come off angry until last night.
Thanks for reminding everyone lukaku was also dragged off embaressing and got a dressing down from conte in front of the team. And also got scream at A LOT in his first few months for not being good enough with his back to goal.
Why are people making this about lukaku anyway? What the fuck is the issue people have with lukaku, jesus Christ.

Anyway, not sure if conte was yelling at lautaro, but right before he got taken off lautaro fucked off hakimi for not finding him with a cross. His best mate hakimi. Lautaros head was away last night. He needed to come off.

Anyway, lautaro has got over it and has apologised. If lautaro has got over it, some of you posters can get over it

Brozović had similar reaction few years ago and now he is valuable member of first 11. Not a big deal this Lautaro situation...

It's not about Lukaku, it's about Conte's attitude towards his two main strikers. It doesn't feel right. Just like the Eriksen treatment didn't feel right.

Being subbed off in a big CL home game as the alleged star of the team for a teen who's never played in the competition despite still early in the game, was a humiliation for Lukaku. Especially given his atrocious performance in the first game and what preceded the game in question. I'm just saying that this sort of happened to Lukaku then. But that was it. The Slavia game is a non-factor. You only know it because Lukaku said it. There's tons of shit that's being said that no one says outside. Lukaku probably got told off by Conte for saying that in public.

Whereas with Lautaro it was a really bad gesture by Conte. It's annoying having to compete against the teacher's pet, so I get Lautaro's frustration. His performance wasn't completely terrible, he just wasn't in good form. He still tried and run a lot, I honestly was very surprised and couldn't have thought that it was possible to see him out. Perisic on the other hand, sure.

What is his attitude? You've just pointed out that lukaku was also humiliated?

Can't speak for everyone, but my concern was, given our past drama (Icardi), this was an unnecessary action given the context. If this was a UCL game, well played Conte, but this was pretty much a friendly which we were winning. Toro doesn't have a history of these sorts of performances. He's been giving 100% all season long. Conte coulda got his point across with a stern talking to in the locker room after the game like he did with Kaku. Keep it behind closed doors. That would've had the desired effect. No one likes to be shamed so publicly.

FYI I completely agree with Conte's hard line approach but the reality is players are extra sensitive these days. They need to be coddled and treated with kid gloves. Unfortunately.

Nope. Hard disagree on this. The message was meant to be that every single match is important. Once you start allowing the mentality that some matches are less important, you start losing discipline. And as I said before, I love that that's the message.

Sure, some players are like that, but not players that Conte likes (Lukaku the glaring exception imo). Coaches like Conte likes fighters, guys who put their heads down and work hard. That's why Škriniar played himself into Conte's undisputed first 11. Cause when he was benched last season, he put his head down, created no fuss and got to it. I'd argue the same happened with Eriksen, at least in Conte's eyes.

I'd probably say that what Conte did yesterday was to lay down the gauntlet for Lautaro. Like, how are you going to react to this? Judging by the reported apology from Lautaro, I'd say it worked.
