I like Mario. but if our system isn't suited for him and/or he can't perform in the right position for us, what is the point? He isn't good enough where you design a system around him. I think if we can't find the right place for him this year, then why let his value decline even more? lets swap him for a player that is of equal or greater quality and fits into a hole in the team.

Again, I'd like to keep Mario - but we have to find a position for him where he can consistently contribute - otherwise what's the point?

I also don't get why many people want him as a RW. He's too slow to play there. The guy's turtle-like pace was easily caught up twice on clear counter attacks. Eder, Perisic or Candreva would've easily burried that.

It's worrying when you think that most, if not all, of his good performances this season (under Spalletti) have come as a sub. More worrying when you see players like Candreva, Naga etc are getting extremely better and he's getting worse. Might just be an off-form thing whether it's due to confidence, or fitness issues. Honestly, and I hope I'm wrong, I feel like he's just not finding his place in this team akin to Kondogbia when clearly both players are of good quality (I personally rate Kondo a lot higher than most people here) and could contribute heavily to our cause of CL football.

I wasn't as high on him like others when he first joined. He doesn't seem to excel in one particular thing and both his mind and body seem to function slowly a lot of the time, as opposite to players whose bodies can't keep up with whatever their brain wants them to do. However, after watching him with us I can't deny that the man does possess some quality and we could see a lot more of it if he turns things around.

It's not over for him and with our glaring hole for forward creativity in the middle of the park he should have plenty of time, and opportunities, to sort his shit out. Unless Brozovic has something to say about that.
