I thought the only decent contribution Alvarez made was the two corners and the pass to Coutinho. But other than that, when he got the ball, he tried to dribble too much and ended up losing the ball more than half the time. Maybe calling him shit was a bit harsh on him, but I'm still puzzled how anyone can say he should MotM. For me, Cambiasso or Capitano, or even Coutinho, deserves the MotM more than Alvarez.

He had about 3 creative passes for Pazzini, some dribbles to make space for others, some good tackles and always tried to put pressure on their midfielders.
You need to watch this game again carefully tbh.

Congratulations Interistas!!! A much needed 3 points!
Without overreacting, we did play Cagliari at home......credit to them for the organized defense in the 1st half.
Having said that, we did come out with a few things besides the win.....

What we have learned from today's match:
1-El Capitano is our 1st choice at left back.
2-Coach believes that Zarate is a player for one half.
3-Zarate always seems to have more than 2 players tracking him, 3 and sometimes 4.......he could work wonders with a 3 man attack.
4-Our youth system and scouting can produce.
5-Offensively, Jonathan needs a player on his side to help him. Stankovic wasn't offering him much in the 1st half, he got better in the 2nd with Alvarez in front of him.
6-Coutinho needs to be more aggressive and take his chances, he looked like it after the change in formation and the 1st goal.....good link up with Alvarez for the 2nd.
7-Cambiasso should be deployed more as a box-to-box player.
8-We still lack height and strength up front.
9-Ranieri can read the game.

Best performers:
Cambiasso was extremely fundamental
Zanetti...need i say more
Ranocchia
Coutinho
Alvarez
Zarate in the 1st half
Man of the Match: Ranieri

From the match:
-Had it not been for Wesley's injury, we wouldn't have seen the interplay between Alvarez and Coutinho for the 2nd goal.
-Pazzini's set up for his chance off the bar in the 1st half is exactly what he needs to do more often.......one touch to control and set up, then strike.
-Going back to wesley's injury during warm up and going through the 3 subs during the game, we have seen Ranieri use 2 academy players and 2 young guns...in addition to starting Jonathan.
-After Motta's 1st goal eased the pressure, it was clear that the "kids" were now going to show what they are capable of.
-As much as I would have wanted to see Coutinho play for the rest of the game, I think the coach was thinking of sparing him for the next match given wesley's knock. No worries, he played a good game from the start and finished it off with a good attacking play.
-I enjoyed seeing Alvarez getting worked up after not getting a call he wanted from the ref.......not that it should be a trait of his but unlike some other players, it seems like he does want to do something for the team.

Until next match,
Forza Inter!!!

LOL why the negativity around Ricky, give him a break, he did good today. I want to see Coutinho-Sneijder-Alvarez in a 4-2-3-1, just to see how it works out. To bad D.Faraoni had more of a negative cameo...A.Ranocchia was more convincing that usually(im fan of him but lately i have been seriously thinking he might not have what it takes, good that he proved me wrong today) Obi did his job and Jonathan had a positive game.

Zarate and Sneijder tend to slow our attacks. Zarate with his selffish attitude and Sneijder cause he loves to be always the playmaker that everyone needs to worship. Wesley´s first touch is often towards JC not to opponents goal.

When Ranieri took of Zarate on half time there was no player that slows the attacks by keeping the ball too long and our attacking play was pretty fast and good to watch. Inter had been used to be Zarate and Sneijder depended on the attacks and now the whole team could take part in the creative play better.

In conlusion I would say that Zarate and Sneijder are valuable players but Ranieri needs to control and use them visely.

it was a long time since I've last seen we apply pressure in the midfield like the 2nd half...

I was glad to see Coutinho and Alvarez, just could see some time for Poli instead of Deki on the 2nd half

regardless, a reasonable win and the three points are very important for the season

I haven't read such nonsense in a long time.

This win is thanks to 4-2-3-1-formation. Finally Ranieri took his head out off his ass and realised what all interistis have wanted sinces day one.

So a big thumps up for il Mister. Hopefully he continues with this formation and lineup -Deki +Wes.

It was a 4-3-2-1.

Good game today guys, I thought Zarate was playing good, if he didn't pass was that he didn't have someone to pass but he was very important for the attack. For me the problem was that Cou was not doing much in the first half, he was decent but Sneijder could had done a lot more. When Ranieri subbed Zarate I couldn't believe it, but with Ricky we controlled better the midfield and his partnership with Cou was great. Ricky had a great match but he needs to improve still, needs to pass the ball quicker and get physically stronger. He showed great technique and covered the ball well though.

Unfortunately Pazzini will complain if not given service. Zarate will argue back when someone berates him. And then of course we have furious Sneijder. I hope our forward pack can get their shit together.

Pazzini was anonymous, Zarate was frustrating, Jonathan was given a lot of the ball but did nothing with it. Alvarez had a positive match but lost the ball too often. So many times he had the ball in a great position but his ridiculous lack of pace allowed him to be easily robbed of the ball. Obi was disappointing and lost the ball way too often. Zanetti was great, Motta was good. Coutinho was actually pretty bad until from 10 minutes before his goal when he started to find some space thanks to Cagliari attacking a bit more.

And finally, I can't fucking believe Stankovic was on the pitch for 90 minutes. :chan:

Second. He scored against Fiorentina last season.

Who's fault was it for the goal we conceded? The quality of the tape I saw is too blurry.
