Congratulations Interistas!!! A much needed 3 points!
Without overreacting, we did play Cagliari at home......credit to them for the organized defense in the 1st half.
Having said that, we did come out with a few things besides the win.....
What we have learned from today's match:
1-El Capitano is our 1st choice at left back.
2-Coach believes that Zarate is a player for one half.
3-Zarate always seems to have more than 2 players tracking him, 3 and sometimes 4.......he could work wonders with a 3 man attack.
4-Our youth system and scouting can produce.
5-Offensively, Jonathan needs a player on his side to help him. Stankovic wasn't offering him much in the 1st half, he got better in the 2nd with Alvarez in front of him.
6-Coutinho needs to be more aggressive and take his chances, he looked like it after the change in formation and the 1st goal.....good link up with Alvarez for the 2nd.
7-Cambiasso should be deployed more as a box-to-box player.
8-We still lack height and strength up front.
9-Ranieri can read the game.
Best performers:
Cambiasso was extremely fundamental
Zanetti...need i say more
Ranocchia
Coutinho
Alvarez
Zarate in the 1st half
Man of the Match: Ranieri
From the match:
-Had it not been for Wesley's injury, we wouldn't have seen the interplay between Alvarez and Coutinho for the 2nd goal.
-Pazzini's set up for his chance off the bar in the 1st half is exactly what he needs to do more often.......one touch to control and set up, then strike.
-Going back to wesley's injury during warm up and going through the 3 subs during the game, we have seen Ranieri use 2 academy players and 2 young guns...in addition to starting Jonathan.
-After Motta's 1st goal eased the pressure, it was clear that the "kids" were now going to show what they are capable of.
-As much as I would have wanted to see Coutinho play for the rest of the game, I think the coach was thinking of sparing him for the next match given wesley's knock. No worries, he played a good game from the start and finished it off with a good attacking play.
-I enjoyed seeing Alvarez getting worked up after not getting a call he wanted from the ref.......not that it should be a trait of his but unlike some other players, it seems like he does want to do something for the team.
Until next match,
Forza Inter!!!
