Salary bumps affect to others as well. Other players will ask more too when it's their time.

It's gonna be either Calhanoglu or Brozovic who gets sold.

Salary bump is the only expectation clubs and players must have. There's no way around it, you need to reward good performances with money. Can't afford to pay more means can't afford good performances.

The same shit will happen I fear. Why the potential next team doesn't pay Hakan e.g. 10m signing bonus instead of paying 40m to Inter?

Either we have to sell him for peanuts (not enough for a decent replacement) OR enjoy his final year of service while hoping nobody else will offer more. In the unfortunate case, well, you know, Skriniar-bis.

This scenario will continue as long as we are poor. Look at Milan; they lost Donna Hakan and Kessie for free but still, they dunno how to handle Leao's contract. Neither do we for Hakan's. Both managements are not that stupid to commit the same mistake thrice or quarce; but the real problem lies at the owner when applying a salary cap.
He's turned 29 today so he'll be 30 if we let him enter free agency

Not sure many clubs would pay him that much as they're allergic to giving big contracts to anyone that age

IMO we should just sell him for good profit. He's been great but we just cannot afford these players.

If we can get around the same money for selling Brozovic, then maybe sell him and renew Calhanoglu (but not at 6m, only with bonuses). We can't have our two starting midfielders earning 6m net (without tax reduction). AFAIK Barella's contract is the one where the salary goes up gradually so he might be at that level soon also.

Cost cutting is the way we gonna go from here so we need to be ready this time and not let this shit go like with Skriniar.

cost cutting is more useful for Inter if only the club cut lukaku, cut his big salaries and cut any unworthy players forever from this club.

Disagree unless we wanna completely give up being a challenging club even in serie A. Hakan at 6 mio is a total cost of 12 mio find me a player near his quality for that price? Like how many more times can we find a free agent without loosing quality?
Also i m not sure hakan is gonna have huge demands plus i dont see him having to many suitors, yes he s been great but somehow few seem to have noticed just how good he has been for us. Dont think we ll have a skriniar situation where a big team offers him a lot more than we possibly could.

That being said if a big offer comes in 40mio plus we might as well sell him.

I doubt he has any transfer value. He's a 30 year old player on high wages with an expiring contract. 10M at most.

Doesn't seem to hold much of an international reputation either. Not exactly a "hot name".

And thats my point even with 5 mio saved in salary it s gonna be hard to replace him adequatly without increasing costs to the club....
And that 10 mio profit wont help too much either way

Bournemouth just bought traore for 30m. I could definitely see some stupid mid table epl team coming in with a big offer for him. And he's literally just turned 29 today, not 30 yet.

But then you have to consider whether Calhanoglu would want to join such a club. He's 29 years old, playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world ( :yao: ), playing in the Champions League every year and competing for titles, at least on paper.

We will find a buyer if we don't want to extend. Calhanoglu is easily 25m player. Just sell if he doesn't accept a modest raise, gtfo with these 20% raises.

@Adriano@10 the thing is, dowhngrading the quality is not an issue for Zhang. Cost cutting is the priority.

Oh yes absolutely, I was just saying stupid English teams have stupid money. Could definitely see almost any of England's top 6 going for him.

6m net is already too high for Hakan. Would he want more, he could find elsewhere; but goodluck finding a club paying that much for a nearly 30yo player.

With no big reputation. Iirc at the time Hakan was younger and released by Milan no one showed real interest except us.

Maybe Arab or America. But they pay to his pocket, not to Inter so I don't care. I do care if his new salary is disrupting the harmony of the dressing room though. Btw 15m (?!?) annual cost means 30-40m over the entire contract, should be enough to find a decent replacement,

This arguments have been used for do many years but I've yet to see us selling players to a mid table epl team for good money. Unless you consider Chelsea a mid table team

Thank you. People have been talking abouy mythically selling our players to "rich, mid-table EPL clubs" since 2014. Alvarez is the only instance it happened.

Better resign him with a modest increase. Have to keep a competent midfield so they can help defend because Inter "appears" to be downgrading there, as well as be creative in attack to assist those "dynamos" Lukaku and Correa.
