Today we may see a different Portugal because it seems Deco may not play, so we may see Figo and C. Ronaldo in the center as "supporting strikers". Meira is good, but I miss Jorge Andrade, he and Ricardo Carvalho are the best Portuguese defenders, no doubt.

As DM most probably will play Costinha, the only question is: can he last 90 minutes?

Sure Frisko, I hope Ziyad reads this.

About the game, I really thought Iran could pull this one, but it was too much. Although he was overdribbling at times, Karimi's loss was a huge blow, and Kia seemed lost.

I am impressed by Kaebi:star: He looks young, but was the best defender in the game. His thinking is really good as well, can Ashkan or Mehdi tell us more about him?

That was some great stuff by the Maestro. :)

Figo is still Portugal's best player by a landslide. Cristiano Ronaldo seems too excited on the ball and when greeted with some agression, I do not like his floppy attitude or his short temper.

Man, Figo was awesome tonight. If it wasn't for him, Portugal wud've been in deep trouble. It seemed he's the only portugese with brains on the field, created a lot for the team. Ronaldo was crap as usual, jumping around like a clown.

Angola is a sympathic team, they fought hard and may cause an upset vs Mexico.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Great way to describe him! Seriously, if this guy doesn't get his act together, he will find himself doing the step over in circuses around the world.

Beautiful defending feom the africans, but they seriously lacked passing. As for Iran, they were disappointing. I was supproting bith teams, so I wanted a draw, but Im not sad mexico won.

hamoudi..do you know now what I mean about Daei??

Karimi off, that useless shit Madanchi in, daei remains. Seriously..

As for Kaebi...Kaebi is ok going forward, but he is simply stupid. He lacks a bit of intelligence, as you could see today.
Rezaei did ok except for the goal, but that was wooow!!!

Seriously..we could have won or at least get a draw, if Daei wouldn't have been on the field and with him gone, all the mafia BS that is surrounding it.
Kia had noone in midfield to pass him the ball to and because of Kaebi, he had to help out in defense in the end.

Aaaah..I'm really pissed at Daei. Clearly..this was a message from God to our whole corrupt federation. It was Omar who conquered Iran, and it was today again Omar, who scored twice against Iran.

What does this tell you?? Play the best goalkeeper, the best defenders and the best playmaker you got(Mobali) you farkers!!!!

Damn..I'm still pissed.

Angola actually played well, but they couldnt get any of their attacks anywhere, and lol at cristiano ronaldo, the guy is VERY VERY overrated,he cant do anything.

Portugal got what they wanted out of the game, they won and they rested deco,i hope they continue to do well, for the next match i think they should play with costinha-maniche-deco and figo and simao on the wings, cause tiago, ronaldo and petit(altho an excellent player) all sucked big time.

Am I the only one who heard a rumor that either RVN and/or the rest of the Dutch team are unhappy with Robben because he didn't pass enough?

I had to read this sentence twice to get it. But when I got it, it seemed the most intelligent wordplay of the year! Mehdi, Shakespeare would have been jealous!

I get what you mean about Daei though, he was a pedestrian. And Kia had to alot by himself, but the guy showed class. Man, the Asian FA should resign for not naming him Asian Player of the Year!

I understand your frustation man. It's so hearbreaking when things can be better, but because of stupid mentality, they are screwed up. And others won't understand, they think most countries are run professionally.

There is still hope, and Iran can build from the first-half display. Now they should go all attack agaisnt Portugal, no point of caution.

BTW, what is the update on Karimi?

LOOOL! Thanks man! ;)

See...Kia is the man. he put his heart outthere. In the last 30-40 minutes, he was defending all the time. he was right, left, everywhere...he just had no one to send him, no one to play decent football with etc.
Kia is hands down the greatest player we ever had.
karimi..I don't know...if he was injured, why did he play?? But he didn't look THAT injured to me. It's said that karimi can neither get along with Daei nor the coach.

Portugal will be criticised after today's game and go more motivated in the next. It doesn't look good to me.

Really, we have a great team with great talents. we could have had a run for the money against Portugal and Mexico, but because of personal interests of some people, our team is messed.

Let's wait and see in the next game..but you know better with the Saudi FA how things are. With Iran it's similar, just with other culprits.

You saw the goalkeeper?? he is now our goalkeeper for 4 years and he has been doing the same mistakes for the past 4 years and not improved a bit in kicking the ball out.
But still he plays every game, because he is a buddy of Daei. Likewise with no. 4, who was responsible for 1.5 of 3 goals(and who scored our only goal, but who got lucky on 2 occasions) and a couple of other guys.

Ali Daei…Fifa's all time top scorer….

Daei1.jpg

Ali Daei (Age: 37)
109 goals (147 Caps) Rank: 1st

vs

hossam-hassan220.jpg

Hossam Hassan (Age: 39)
69 goals (170 Caps) Rank: 6th

Man, Jassem Al-Howaidi shouldn’t have retired; he had 63 goals in 74 caps! Stupid KFA! (He was only 29!!! And a year before that he one Fifa’s top scorer award) Oh well, I’ve been quite impressed with Nekounam (6) he seemed like an excellent defensive midfielder…Anyone found it interesting that Figo started in a central position? ;)

Daei is a joke, why he continues to start baffles me.

Iran were simply outclassed by a better technichal team, simple as that.

I was really disappointed by the Portugal/Angola match today. After the brilliant aggressive play and goal by Portugal, it seemed as if they completely let off the pedal. What could have been a great Colonial Power vs. Former Colony game turned into a falling down match in which both sides tumbled for triumph. Passes were often wayward on both sides and even when Angola had possesion in the final third, the finish was miserably off target. C.Ronaldo was unlucky when his header rattled the crossbar, but even still, Portugal needs to improve its game.

Match of the day was by far Mexico - Iran. It was a box to box battle with little midfield play, and that kept the horde of Mexican fans excited. I stayed awake during this one, but 42 total fouls made this game a rough one. With the play shown by both sides today (barring the lapse in concentration by Iran that resulted in the second and third goals), I think Mexico could win the group and Iran finish runners up. However, I am almost certain Big Phil will straighten out the group and Portugal will be runners up.

A great first half which in fact made me proud and a pathetic sec half. I wonder what our coach said to our players. Keep it tight at the back? I mean you can not start playing so defensively right from the start of the sec half! Especially when you are on top of your game in the 1st half.
Mexico’s defence was/is vulnerable and if we had continued playing our attacking game we could have won the game.
Sec half was a collective failure and the goal was bound to happen – started with a miss kick from our keeper and then a BAD touch from Rezaei.

As for that old tall fart – I better don’t say anything!! I think he touched the ball 3-4 times in the entire game!!
Would have been nice to see all our key players feature in such a key game. It is now extremely difficult to advance.

No more words.. hmm the picture says it all.

From World CUp website:

“Figo’s vision of football is great,” said FIFA Technical Study Group member Kalusha Bwalya. “He looks in a very good physical condition and the armband makes him a symbol of Portuguese football. He enjoyed himself tonight and capitalised on a loose ball in the only goal of the match – he ran past one opponent and assisted Pauleta.

“Overall, it was a wonderful performance by the Portuguese captain for more than one hour. After Cristiano Ronaldo came off, Figo helped a lot in defence which was essential in the final minutes.”

I am glad we have this player.
