Beautiful header again. It was quite similar in term of execution like he scored in Coppa last season (not sure if I'm correct, can't remember our opponent back then).

Hopefully our defence will learn from mistakes in first half. Much better communication and a stronger determination is necessary in these match conditions. This is not on Acerbi but for entire defence line.

Should hopefully be alright after a full rest against Salernitana.

Well actually, Lukaku's clearance wasn't bad, but it's just that Acerbi was perfect in timing and position.

it went backwards man...

a clearance either slows the pace and goes upwards or it goes out, or you know, it's cleared from the box

The best clearance is when it goes wide outside the box but if you watch it closely, it's more of Acerbi's perfection rather than Lukaku's poor clearance. I mean, could have been a better clearance, but Acerbi felt that ball and was there in perfect position and timing. In such intense corner kicks, it's the most important to avoid a header goal and then clear the ball sideways.

I said, it's not bad, but Acerbi's instict makes it look like an assist. I'm sure most of other players would've straight at the goal and look for the ball there, but instead Acerbi gets off opponent and makes himself ready for any eventual opportunity.

I mean, this is why football is beautiful. It's all about timing and positioning. But Lukaku's clearance wasn't bad by any means. It wasn't the best, but for sure not bad as well.

But it was hardly a "clearance". Intervention, sure. But not a clearance. A clearance is that, a clearance. It clears the ball. From danger. And he headed it to the 2nd post where an attacking player was lurking. So if that was a clearance, it was a bad one. His header definitely prevented the first attackers from reaching it, but if it ended up being an assist to another guy just outside the small penalty box, it's not really a clearance is it?

Game of the day: How many times was the word clearance used?

Ffs mate, this is a bigger fault on player whom was marking Acerbi rather than Lukaku's poor clearance. Whatever you name it, clearance or intervention, it was still not bad because first of all, he's not a defender to intercept these things or have a proper vision in where threat is coming from or how does a proper defending works.

If that guy marking Acerbi would have a better approach, this goal likely wouldn't happen. Only way to score such goal was to lob goalkeeper on the other side, while a proper header in a 1vs1 aerial duel wouldn't make this happen.

We can sit here and debate all day, but bigger fault comes from that guy whom looks completely lost in that moment. I even said, Lukaku's clearance or intervention wasn't the best, but still it was better than nothing. The other guy was just sleeping though.

There was nobody around Lukaku yet he used the back of his head instead of the side of his head to clear the ball 🤣🤣. What an idiot through and through.

Lol, who said anything about faults? Who even cares?

You called it a "not bad clearance". You can call it a "bad clearance" because it failed to become a.. clearance! Enough with the nitpicking already.

His only mission was to head the ball away from goal and the attackers. He failed. There was a threat where he directed the ball and they conceded from it. No one cares about the rest of it. That's where his contribution starts and ends.
