Ill take it to the De Vrij thread in a second, but I really don’t see this resurgence you’re all talking about. I’m incredibly nervous when SDV is on the pitch.

I’m moderately worried about the CCB position in general. Acerbi is too old to be relied on for another full season.

I think how Inzaghi give both starting time worked out nicely for us, even tho towards the end of the season I've not liked Acerbi in most games. Like you said, he is too old to be relied on. Especially he is too slow with receiving and passing the ball, causing issues for us in the back.

De Vrij was a bit better than Acerbi this season. I'm sure we'll try to do another season with these two being CCB because we don't really have the money to go for another, younger CB.

Gotta love how mature this guy is when Haaland tries to provoke him, he just jokes about it, and Haaland seems pissed about it.

Well I guess that just shows how Acerbi handled Haaland, in total control.

Acerbi was amazing! Puts a leg to Haaland just at the right time. The only time he lost Haaland was at a corner, but nothing came of that.

He got beat for the header Sommer saved in the 19th, but can't complain too much. Defence was our best department this game. Containing City away is a great feat.

Sometimes you just need to be an enough of a nuisance that they can't score. Same as it happened with Mkhitaryan, who couldn't get to a proper shot because of the angle and no space.

Good old fox kept Haaland in his pocket the entire game, which is an incredible feat. Even joked with him after the final whistle when Haaland told him "oh fuck off! 😁"

Was like a slap in the face to the many doubters he has here on FIF. This is just the beginning of the season, let's see how he holds up.

A lot of criticism today will go towards Mkhi and Pavard (and rightfully so). However, it must be said Acerbi looked woefully off the pace today as well. It didn’t help that Milan played two strikers and Abraham was fresh.

This is what happens when you are forced to rely heavily on a 36 year old. He’s started all except one game this season due to De Vrij’s injury. He shouldn’t be playing 90 minutes away against City and then 90 minutes again against Milan in the same week.

We can’t blame Acerbi. This is a management/ownership issue.

Failing to sign a proper CB this summer was malpractice. I'll keep banging the drum: Hermoso would have solved so many problems we have at the back. Instead we wasted a combined 25 million on reserve players who are never going to play.

Overpaying for Hermoso > signing an overpriced reserve keeper and a future CB loanee

Acerbi looked tired but at least his passing was a lot better.

We all know we should've went for a CB this summer. Except for the Oaktree overlords.

Acerbi sustained ‘a strain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh’, as revealed by an MRI scan undergone on Tuesday.

Sky: Acerbi should return for his side’s away trip at Empoli on 30 October or the following match against Venezia at the very latest.

This motherfucker needs to get healthy. I think him and SDV are similar in terms of defensive ability but he keeps the back line in WAY better shape and stability. We never concede like this w Acerbi.
