Circumcision

What is your opinion on routine male infant/early teens circumcision ?

  • There are no medical reasons to do it, but it's ok to cultivate it due to religion.

It`s participated in some places here in Egypt, but it`s heavily attacked by the community. it`s just the few ignorants among the society who continue to do it. it`s something they got from old stupid traditions.. some actually argue that it is religious, but the fact is it has nothing to do with it, and never been mentioned in the religious book.

Some people just do it cause everyone they know did. stupid.

Circumcised men have more difficulties reaching orgasm, and their female partners experience more vaginal pains and an inferior sex life, a new study shows (based on 5552 participants)

@felix, I think men in the study actually spoke for themselves.

There are studies showing that circumcised men have more erectile dysfunction problems, one study from England shows 4,5 times as much reported problems among circ'd men. I am NOT saying this numbers are definite cos there are other factors to it like smoking and bad eating but this kind of result doesnt come out of nothing also would be absurd to assume that only cut men eat junk and smoke, and uncut ones live heathly, I'd say its same for both percentage-wise.

When you think about it, its not that strange, due to circumcision men loose big chunk of their erogenous tissue (foreskin IS NOT just some regular skin), it's part of the mechanism that is responsible for getting and of course sustaining an erection. When you're young it doesnt matter but when older that loss starts to play a role. It's all in the brain and the brain doesnt get all the info about what is goin on down there, because many nerve endings were removed. Maybe its a coincident maybe not but Americans consume 45% of world's Viagra production, when they only make 4,7% of world's male population, Israel was for many years #1 Viagra importer outside US. Maybe its nothing, but maybe circcumcised populations really have more erectile problems.

I think the guys here are discussing male circumcision. It's so widely practiced here in Egypt that I'm 100% sure you got circumcised :)

And difficulty reaching orgasm?! That can't be a representative sample. Even a couple of pages in the adult thread can get you there :D

Let me check..

Oh yes you are right.

Weird, even when I got so wasted or dead drunk, I dont remember doing males.

TBH an uncircumcized dick is so characterless, just like Inter`s midfield.

I prefer the term intact

great another opinion :) that's a personal preference what you're talking about, really personal :) do you think that every man should have the right decide for himself about the looks of his cock, or is it ok to make that decidion for him? Im sorry I dont know at what age this is practiced in Egypt.

Circumcision and HIV

It's a fact that since the introduction of this practive in the US in late 1800s there were variety of reasons told to the public to convince people that circumcision is good for health and what not. What were the reasons? Well among others hemnia, limiting masturbation, insomnia, epilepsy, bedwetting. It's no surprise that all these were disproven.

With time new reasons came out like balanitis, phimosis, and penile cancer. Now it's known upenile cancer is extremaly rare to even mention it, and balanitis happens to anywhere from 1 to 12% of males, and in most cases is caused by poor hygiene, overextensive hygiene, extensive use of regular soap, and forced foreskin retraction by parents. Terrible mistake by parents of uncut boys, in many cases they are adviced to do so by the doctors(!), retracting foreskin before its natural retraction is asking for trouble, an invitation for infections, hence all the scare about it as many parents do it and then report... yes, infections of their uncut sons. In an intact infant, the proper care is to do nothing. It can be cured with antibiotics, anti-yeast and steroid creams, circumcision is an extreme way of dealing with the issue (not to mention prevention). Phimosis is one of the most often misdiagnosed conditions, simply because the foreskin can retract itself when the baby is 1 year old up to puberty. When it doesnt happen in first years parents are scared its actually phimosis [1]. The phimosis itself when actually happens can be treated in variety of ways like simple streaching during hot shower, again steroid creams [2] and preputioplasty [3], with circumcision again being only last resort. British medical reaseraches suggest that the diagnosis is made far too often. Study conducted in Liverpool shows that 0,6% boys by their 15th birthday are affected with pathological phimosis that requires circumcision as a treatment [4]. There are also scary UTI's but the appropriate treatment for those, in males as well as females, is antibiotics, not prophylactic excision of the foreskin. According to the AAP, “Urinary tract infections are usually not life threatening and are easily treated in most cases.”

Nowadays it's all about HIV.

Even though we have already reached the peak of the HIV infections and deaths from AIDS [5] - still a great opportunity to push this unnecesary surgery. Many believe it's the last chance for circumcision fethishists to preserve this practice. What is weird when you hear someone saying that it prevents HIV you're most likely to hear: "some study in Africa... this and that". Question is why would anyone even consider such research valid to circ boys in the US and anywhere where people do it? Think about it, no offense but its likely that sex education, hygiene standards, condom usage and overall safe sex practice in sub-Saharan Africa may not be up to western world standards. What I want to say is we shouldn't look at some African studies and especially believe it's prevention rate as it does not apply to developed coutries because it's completely different environment.
Why does US have one if not the highest HIV rates among western countries if they practice circumcision so widely? Isn't it at the very least confusing that every country in central and western Europe, also Canada, Australia and Japan have up to 6 times lower [6][7][8][9] HIV rates than US and at the same time do not practice routine infant circumcision?
The best way to avoid getting infected with HIV is getting educated, practicing safe sex, using condoms if you're not in a committed relationship, avoiding anal and oral sex with strangers. Also treating existing cases with availaible means lowering all risks. Forget circumcision - really.
Many people don't really know that it is really hard to get HIV through sex. If you're having an unprotected vaginal intercourse with infected partner chance to get infected is 1/2000 for man and 1/1000 for woman [10] now add condom to that. Remember - no backdoor fun with strangers :). You're more likely to commit suicide than die from HIV/AIDS [11]. Is it really okay to suggest circimcision as HIV prevention instead of focusing on sexual education? Do circumcised men still use condoms when engaging in casual sex? Would any man or woman decide NOT TO use condoms because of the circumcison status. There were attempts to make this kind of research in the US and other developed countries not Africa, and results were highly inconclusive if any.

Where is the logic and common sense?

I mean, they better get that vaccine ready fast, wonder what the next big reason to cut will be .

wrote this for my friends blog, shortened it a bit to make it readable

Poll added thanks to Stefan, though 1st answer in full is:

"- It should never be performed without immidiate medical necessity and it violates human rights otherwise."

you can vote if you want, but im not expecting too many votes :eek:blivious:

I think the biggest issue is people believe in this small percentages of prevention against different conditions and use extreme measure of dealing with it as prevention forgetting that those can be cured without surgery :chan:

Infant male circumcision is genital mutilation

Men should have the right to choose circumcision, not have the choice forced upon them. Infant circumcision without consent or immediate medical justification is an unjustified violation of basic human rights, that shares more in common with ancient coming-of-age rituals than responsible medical practice

...

Infant circumcision without medical justification should be called what it is – genital mutilation. Deliberately inflicting injury on a baby in order to enforce their conformity with a religion, or to satisfy their parents' views on what a penis should look like, is a sick act. It has no place in a modern society. Infant circumcision - regardless of gender - should be stopped.
