because he is a force, that can be successfully utilised in the middle. and no, I don't think he is a good tackler, but we need bullies like that in our team. I'd say his speed and stamina can also be a plus, he's definately improved there since he started playing for Inter. again, I also agree that criticising him is justified, but I've came to a point where I don't want to bash every player just because he was half-shit, half-good for us the previous season. Altho I don't want to compare players, I'd say he is as important in defence and attack as Pogba/Marchisio role is at Juve (when Pogba isn't playing instead of Pirlo, ofc). Taider is still an unknown factor for me, since I don't know how Mazzarri wants him deployed, while we all know Kovačić is great with the ball, but we want him to not be the 'last midfielder', so to speak.
He is not perfect. Same with Alvarez, and Ricky really looks like a better player now that he is motivated, has some confidence.. and I see both of them having an important role in this season, even if my FM skills would already sold both, probably
okerface: so I don't expect those two to be world beaters. but still
I got really mad how Guarin can fuck off altho he is a good asset in both defence and attack :/ he is showing it now. I bet you he won't lose the ball as much in a months time. Just call it a hunch.
Kova-Taider-Alvarez can probably work good against small teams, I don't know, have nothing to back up this too. But Guarin is crucial for the big games (instead of Alvarez, so we can have a bit more menacing midfield)
the only ones that are left are the broken ones - Obi, Zanetti, Mudingayi, - the soon to be executed by an electric chair - Kuzmanović & Mariga - the old ones - Olsen & Cambiasso. Not really that good of a bench, is it, plus Cambi will play a lot this year, I know some of you won't enjoy that, I certainly won't. But that's how it is, our midfield would still need some new blood plus a few exits.
