So Marotta is basically getting rid of the core group who are either under-performers (Perisic) or just aren't up to Inter standards (Vecino). I see no reason why I shouldn't be happy and optimistic.

Well, if that's his plan, he sure has gloriously fucked up both missions. Now we have an under-performer and a sub-par midfielder who don't want to be here.

Add to that the fact he broadcast these situations to the whole world taking away any leverage we'd have had in the summer when selling these players.

"Optimistic" and "happy" are surely not the words to describe how interistas should feel after Marotta's first mercato with us.

Our season is over anyway. A 3rd place and another embarrassing UEFA league exit by some Eastern European club is the best we can get at this point. We're still getting the 4th place with or without Perisic and Vecino. Them being unhappy won't make them any worse than they already are.

The core group of this team must be changed. Only a handful of the core players must not be sold at any cost. The names are only Icardi, Skriniar, Handanovic, Brozovic and De Vrij. These are the only key players who consistently deliver quality all year long with a few bad games scarred around. The rest can leave at the right price (guys like Candreva and Vecino can leave for free for all I care).

Spalletti has been an obnoxious twat with his tactics alright, but no manager in the world can go far with players who have more bad games than good ones. Perisic and Gagliardini play like 3 great games every 6 months (Vecino 20 great minutes per season).

I'd be really disappointed if Marotta has confirmed any faith in such players for next season.

If there is any man I want in charge of Inter during a mass clearout in the summer and big SA-free investment, its Marotta.

The way I see it, Ausilio-Spalletti have achieved their objectives. This is as far as they can take us, most of us knew that from the beginning. Now its upto Marotta-XXX to take Inter to the next level.

Listen i am all for this supposed clearance sale [ sure there is a seller but i doubt there will be buyers for most of em :D] but that has to happen in the summer. The timing of this is so off.You cant destabilise an already weak mentality team like this in such a crucial stage of the season.Top 4 is not guaranteed yet.Marotta should have been this strict in the summer and not just yet.But maybe the media is blowing this way out of proportion and Marotta was right in showing Perisic who the boss was and perhaps it will be a warning to other players too.The mgmt should definitely be strict but it shouldnt be at the cost of qualifying for the UCL.Do all this once the season is over and not now imo.

I don't disagree with anything you've said here.

My criticism of Marotta wasn't whether he has faith in the shitty players or not, but rather how he went about trying to get rid of these players.

Marotta-Cambiasso sounds good.

All kidding aside, I wouldn't mind having Conte regardless of his Rube status.

Inter CEO Marotta: “Spalletti Said Wise Things, Happy To See Perisic & Nainggolan On The Pitch”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta stopped by Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia moments before kick-off between the Nerazzurri and Bologna at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Marotta began by talking about the turbulence around the club recently defending Luciano Spalletti completely and wholeheartedly.

“The media world has changed, there is so much gossip now. News without any basis. Spalletti said wise things and in a direct manner and I don’t understand how you can criticize him. He is third in the league and he lost in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia on penalties.”

“We look forward with optimism. I am happy to see Perisic and Nainggolan on the pitch, the coach thinks they are at their peak. One of them wants to leave, maybe the days of the one-club man no longer exists, they are now professionals and we have to adapt to this approach. If Spalletti has deployed them it means that they are up to the task.”

“We talked about it because there’s nothing to hide, just listen to the players opinions. Without genuine offers no transfer can take place. We have to get used to and confront these players and make them aware of our decisions. The players return to being great players, after the transfer market has closed and Ivan will demonstrate his best at Inter and as the World Cup finalist he is.”

All he's gotta do is to stay calm and sober, then objectively analyze the situation with the staff in Sara's office and ultimately say the right things in media.

Then the coach is dumb as a rock.

This is a true test of his resolve. We will see what he's made of, and if he is truly here to guide the sunk ship.

As far as I'm concerned, Beppe and ol' Andrea (Agnelli) are having a great laugh right now, toasting the missions success over a fine whiskey.

I am beginning to doubt if Marrota deserves to be kept at Inter if he deosn't take immediate steps and hire a capable coach to take Inter a front CL seat. But so far all he offered are just empty words that worth nothing.

Partially true that they will be pleased with scandals surrounding Inter, but Juve is facing revenue cap right now, they need stronger opponents so that TV revenues can increase, cause nobody will bother to buy TV rights for one-team league. Even they, being our arch-rivals, still aren't interested in weak Inter.
