Like I might be biased, but for a player like him it doesn't make too much sense for him to make a mistake like that, the first mistake could be a misunderstanding/miscommunication with setting the offside trap, hence it could be the others that should've stopped with him, again not sure.

Second goal with the situation he actually forced Al Sha into a low xG spot, the far post was covered more or less, and had a narrow angle forcing wide, and it was a fluke shot in slow mo.

Still I have the feeling something was off with his defense yesterday.

I don't think the second goal was really his fault. He was forced into a bad position after we lost the ball in the midfield.

First goal was definitely on him.

Yeah, seen this a lot, and fact is that the 2nd goal came from a 4v3 quick counter. You defend those inside-out, the only difference was that El Shaarawy (very flukishly) scored the goal that Vlahovic squandered with his Lukaku-esque touch last week when they had a similar odd-man counter. Which is why you force it wide to begin with; more passes, more touches, better chance someone makes a mistake, also make the angles a little more difficult. Ultimately, there's not much you can there as a defender once the ball works its way to the unmarked attacker, all you try to do is make it the guy with the toughest chance to make it happen. If there's a culprit on goals like that, it's always either the guy who was responsible for the initial turnover, or the guy who forced the player into committing the turnover (if there was a pass made that was a bad decision, etc.), but the defenders are already put in an impossible situation, it's only a plus mark for them if they're able to snuff it out but not really a negative mark if they can't.

Perhaps his worst performance so far, but it is harsh to totally blame him for both goals. The first goal looked like he lost the player he ought to mark, but it could be a communication issue. For the second goal, there was no way he could block the shot, but his positioning and urgency were questionable during the counter attack phase.

For the rest of the match though, he struggled hard and it seemed like he was not the player who oozed authority against rube. I couldn't understand how he let Roma's winger to bypass him easily to cross, luckily lakaka did his trademark mishead. It was truly a clumsy Skriniar moment when he was torched by a tricky winger.

Because people want to blame somebody. Shit happens, as long as it doesn't influence our players in the long run, I'm okay

Solid again, was willing him to get a goal today. Maybe he'll get one against Athletico!

As many of us expected he was the perfect fit for the RCB role and he's proving it. The incidents which led to his purchase couldn't happen any better.
