Can anyone name a player that stepped up against Atletico away in a CL knockout game that's not named Cristiano Ronaldo?

Half of you were jerking off to Liverpool in 2020 with likes 25 wins in a row and these guys tossed them out while having an even worse season in Spain than now...

What the fuck did you expect would happen coming here with just a goal advantage?
Ffs open your damn eyes and minds. What a shitfest of a thread....
They were making fun of Atletico imagine that lol

Too many extreme views posted in the heat of the moment here.

To keep it as short as possible, we are on the level as this Atletico. When a lottery decides the winner I'm sorry but it is what it is. We made them look better than us due to our defensive strategy where their attackers got to shine with their flair and speed. Great disappointment because it could've just as well been us to go forward. If you count mistakes, they made as many as we did. Certain players failed to show up.
I do have a bit of beef with Simone for not going all-out because this calculated siege stuff isn't our forte as certain defensive stats would lead one to believe. Subs and penalty takers are low-hanging fruit in this case.

I'd say last season was us overachieving, this season we are underachieving even if at smaller margin.

It won't come off as a suprise if we drop points in the next few games in the league after this because I imagine everyone is heavily demoralized.

Well said, and we shouldn't discount what an achievement it is for Inter in 2024 to be at the level of Atletico Madrid, a probably top 10 team in the world over the last 5-10 years. We were losing to Beer Sheva not too long ago ffs

Hakan and Henrikh...that's all. I've been saying for years that we need an extra creative mf. We got Buchanan instead.

Have a good day folks !

FIF Melts.....

Is there never an objective middle ground?

We went in as deserved favorites. We played our worst game for the season so far. Shit happens we move on. This includes the starting lineup, subs, and even coaching performance. It's no time to panic, whinge, and throw the baby out with the bath water.

If there is a reflection on why it performed poorly, I would be curious about what comes out of that...

- Core players not rested enough?
- Depth / Injuries, bringing them into the fold too early (Thuram) or not having them available (Arnautovic)?
- Game style, play on what you know and only change if the game is not going your way. Inzaghi changed tactics why?
- Character, who were the shit cunts who didnt get in? and cannot handle pressure in games? And fuck them off.

Its never as good as it seems, and its never as bad it seems. I mark it a shit day and move on.

Isn’t it so poetically Inter that Pavard, the player we bought to solve our defensive problems ends up fucking us with a bad error in such a crucial game.

For me it feels like the season is over. Don’t know if I’ll bother watching any more Inter games this season. Scudetto is in the bag. I dont think even we could fuck up a 16 point lead.
Exactly!
We can mock Mikhi, Thuram and so on!
But Pavard is suppose to be the reliable player for these games. He is in his prime, was not overused this year and had a ton of experience. And it is not only the mistake on the goal, but his entire performance. Too passive on build-up, no aggression, slow. I could have forget the mistake at the goal (it happens) but the lack of "grinta" was disappointed. Bisseck, who is nobody in Europe, in his few minutes was more incisive than Pavard.

I just cannot shit on Lautaro. Because our midfield and defense were so passive, he was always cover form 2 or 3 Atletico players. Still he provided 2 great potential assist. Would have been one of them made, we would celebrate now.

You are right, but your example is not good. Liverpool had the game in the bag, but Adrian made 2 horrible brainfarts and gave them the game. There were 2 goals from nowhere.

Barella
This one is going to last for sure. It feels even worse today than last night.

I want to say and shit on SDV, Barella, Mkhy etc. but all in all we were bad all around, and I can't get my head around it... How were we so shaky in the back, so soft, lethargic I really hoped that at some point we'll snap out of it and start playing, but as the time went on I had that feeling we're not winning this tie...

We should probably focus on how wasteful we were in both games upfront, Thuram, Dumfries, Arnautović and so on... Should have been 2 or 3 goals advantage coming into last night...

Give it a rest. If we had won the penalty shootout this entire forum would be screaming we're going to the finals. Now we're there levels behind Europe's elite.

It's remarkable how unlucky Inter is with the away goals rule. After all the times it fucked us over when it was in effect, yesterday we would have beaten Atletico in normal time with it; in fact, we would have been first in our group and wouldn't have faced them to begin with.

The game would have gone in different situation if the away goal rule existed.

yeah, but c'est la vie. It doesnt. The away goal rule - as it was previously implemented - was fucking unfair anyway, one team gets 90m to score an away goal, the other gets 120m (as eliminated us once)

Without that rule one team has support from fans for 90' and the other has 120'. Those 30' extra is when all players get exhausted and need extra boost the most.

Plus mental back for the penalty shoot out, which eliminated us just yesterday.
