Any if you follow nima tavalley on twitter? He tweets all the time so I can't be bothered, but when we were struggling before Christmas he was tweeting non stop conte out, I told everyone this would happen, I knew conte would fail here, the world is ending for inter. Was pathetic, I unfollowed him. I'm too lazy to go back scrolling for minutes and minutes, but just wanted to shout out what a fool he was.
Patience is the key.

I don't really blame him (minus the bragging about how "right" he was). I wanted Conte fired after the UCL exit coincided with a horrible run of form in October.

Do you think it would be impossible for us to win without Conte? Milan/Juventus are in shambles. Juventus is a Europa League team + Ronaldo, and Milan is not far off.

Fact of the matter is we have the deepest squad in Italy right now and Serie A is just bad at the top right now.

We would not have won the Scudetto this season with Spalletti as our manager. We needed someone of Conte's quality to get us over the hump.

Why... Spalletti had a much weaker squad than Conte. He's the guy that broke that 6-7 CL year dry spell.

whilst spalletti does get credit for getting us to where he did, I dont think we'd be scudetto contendors with him. Look at the mentality in this team now. The work rate. The determination. The development of the players. Those are all things that I don't believe for a second Spalletti would have delivered.

Under Conte, broadly, we're conceding about the same rate, but scoring so many more than Spalletti. We're showing much more control in midfield than ever before (of course this is to do with the players as well, e.g. Barella, Sensi, Eriksen).

I dont believe for a second Spalletti would have managed to have pulled this off, even with the same squad.

That's fine, but as you point out it was the "how right he was". He painted himself as some omniscient genius. Was so very annoying to read him pat himself on the back time and time again.

Fap, we absolutely do not have the deepest squad. Juve still do. We've got quite lucky this season that our key players avoided injuries. De vrij or skriniar injured we are down to rano, Hakimi injured we are down to darmian or dambro (darmian playing well but you would be laughing if he started for any other top 4 or 5 team.
Brozo or barella injured and we have gagliardini in the team. Lukaku injured and we have no like for like replacement at all.

How so? They have a midfield of Ramsey, Rabiot and whoever else. That's good enough for like 8th place. That team is spending like a 1/3rd of their salary budget on 1 player.

Eriksen/Barella are head and shoulders above what they have.

That's just pure speculation. If Spalletti managed 4th place two years in a row with a team that had the letter "L" in their forehead for half a decade, there is no reason why he couldn't challenge for the title with this team.

Would he play Conte's brand of football? Obviously not. But there's more than 1 way to win.

Yes, but like I said, the development we've seen of a number of our players didnt happen under Spalletti. You could make a fair argument Skriniar regressed under him, Brozovic was more inconsistent than ever, Lautaro failed to show even 25% of the potential he's delivering against now at Inter.

You can probably argue the only player who was better under Spalletti than now is Perisic?

That's utterly irerelevant though, isnt it. Conte has developed our players, to be much better than they ever were under Spalletti.

One credit you have to give Conte is on the point of having a winner mentality in the squad. It takes time to build it. And sometimes, you need players who have it to come in and seep it to the rest of the squad. We have seen this time and again with clubs like Tottenham, Arsenal, Napoli, etc. You need a leader, you need need that mentality. Conte brought it up last season. Today, Conte is that leader for this team. We can only hope that some of our players like Skriniar, Barella, become that for the future.

What development... Wasn't Skriniar looking like a Top 3 CB in the world under Spalletti? As soon as we switched to back 3 he struggled.

As for Lautaro, I think I mentioned this years back with Icardi, but Year 1 is adjustment year. If they score ~7-8 goals, they have breakout the next. You don't go from Argentinian League to Serie A scoring 15 goals out of the gate.

Skriniar looked great under Spalletti season 1, not quite as good season 2. He's grown massively in the back 3, so he's probably a far more rounded player than he ever was under spalletti.

Like I said, you'd be hard pressed to name more than maybe 1 or 2 players who aren't better under Conte than under Spalletti.

We might be an OK team under Spalletti, probably top 4, maybe even competing for the scudetto, but this team is a damn lot better than, arguably, ANYTHING Spalletti has ever put together, bearing in mind he's never won an Italian league (aside from Serie B).

I do agree that this team is far better... But attributing it to Conte is stupid. It's dinero amigo $$$.

I do give Conte credit. At the same time, saying he's the only one that can get us to Scudetto is a fallacy. There's more than 1 way to succeed. 90% of a team's success is down to the quality of the squad.
