I don't think we can afford to sell him at a capital loss, which is why I don't believe reports we'll sell him in January. I imagine a summer sale of around 10 million is realistic, perhaps in a swap deal like we did for Nainggolan where Candreva serves as the Santon.
Maybe we can offer Fiorentina 60m for Chiesa, and give them a ready replacement in Candreva for 20m. That would be a sweet deal.
If not, we may have to wait till Conte finds a new job to make a profit on Candreva...
We signed him for €22m in 2016 on a 4 year contract. After two years we renewed him on October 2018 for a further year until 2021. By January he'll have been here for 2.5 years but I can't remember whether the renewal means his original fee is divided among the new contract length or whether his remaining amortised value is divided among the remaining years including the added year extension. In the first case his book value would be like €11m. In the case of the former, around €8m or so.
The calculation would be that after two years with annual amortisation cost of 5.5m per year, his book value would have become 11m. Now since Inter now extended his contract by a year, the amortisation cost per year will now reduce to 11m/3 years = 3.67m.
So after 2.5 years (Jan 2019), his book value = 11 - 3.67/2 = 9.17m
After 3 years (July 2019) his book value = 11 - 3.67 = 7.33m
