He has all the character traits and talent to become a world class player, mentally he also seems very stable. When was the last time the first captain of Inter was an Italian? Maybe Bergomi?

Inter legend Beppe Bergomi discussed with Italian journalist Giammarco Menga on Instagram, with the interview being reported in its entirety on Italian media outlet FcInterNews. Bergomi also spoke about breakout Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni.

“Bastoni is the typical modern defender. He’s left-footed, has personality and knows how to play football, I’ve known him since he played for Atalanta’s youth team and since the national team U17’s. Like all things, being young, he still has to grow on certain aspects, such as defending on the open field since Inter want to keep a high centre of gravity in their game.

“He has to improve and grow, so far, he has made some mistakes, it’s true, but at the end of the day who doesn’t make mistakes? If you make mistakes, you grow up. He’s this kind of player. He’s 20-years-old, he’s improving a lot and he has to keep it that way.” :datass:

When anyone asks what went wrong this year, this sums it up. Between our weak as shit bench with absolutely no game changers, to Contes lack of a plan b.

Incredible performance from the kid. He's surely a guaranteed starter. He adds so much more going forward than other defenders (bar De Vrij).

Inter are to reward Alessandro Bastoni with a new and improved contract according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The Italian youth national team defender has had a first team breakthrough at Inter this season and Inter are ready to give him a new deal.Bastoni is currently under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season and earns €300,000 a year.

As per the report, he will be given a one year contract extension and his salary will be raised to €1.2 million as part of the new deal. The 21-year-old centre back is widely regarded as one of the best young Italian defenders out there at the moment and looks set to be the future of Inter’s defence. This season Bastoni has made 21 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 1600 minutes, he has scored two goals.

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni discussed the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 comeback against Parma earlier tonight in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV immediately after the game.

“Very important goal. I’m very happy because we revealed ourselves to be a good team, we pushed until the end. I played here last year and I know them very well. We know that with this style of play we can concede something, but it’s a philosophy that we have chosen and we must continue like this.”

The 21-year-old Italian centre back then discussed how important it was to beat the Emilian club and how happy he is to play for Inter.
“Let’s look at the league table relatively, it was important to win today after the rather strange draw against Sassuolo. Why I kissed the shirt after my goal? I’ve always said that I’m an Inter fan and it’s a dream come true for me to be here.”

What a gem. He charges forward well and rarely does so recklessly

Bastoni-Barella-Esposito, the future core

The potential is there for Espo but he’s still very, very raw. Definitely needs a few years away on loan before we can judge him. Barella and Bastoni are definitely core players going forward though.

Love this kid. No one imagined he would make a starting role his own in his first season, and yet here he is. And fully deserved. I hope he continues to grow as a player, that is key. Please don't pull a Santon on us, kiddo.

This is the right blueprint for youngsters. You want to start, prove it on the pitch.

Have high hopes for this guy, I’m just a bit worried he’d be too used to the 3 men defense. However, his passing abilities is so impressive. I’d dare to say he is top 5 best passer in this team, especially long balls.

Just a few thoughts on Bastoni. I have to say that it is great that he has established himself as a starter on our eleven. At the beginning of the season, many of us thought that Godin would be ahead of him in the pecking order. But the reality is that Bastoni's rise has pushed Godin to the bench and possibly out of the club. Bastoni's confident displays in our defence are special. He plays with the confidence and knowledge that the starting position is his and that if the likes of Godin or anyone else wishes to take that position, it is not going to happen without a fight. That is exactly the kind of determination we need in our starting eleven and perhaps the best part is that a Godin has been sidelined and made to look second best when he thought that his starting in the eleven would be a given.

Yeah and you can ask whatever you want. Truth is Esposito is not playing while Bastoni has basically become a starting player in this team. That would equal Esposito playing consistently (even from the bench) and scoring goals.

It's clearly Conte behind this sentence.

I remember when Bonucci coached by Conte from teenager until become one of the best CB in the world.

And Ranocchia get Mazzarri instead. Now look what happen ..

I don't know how Conte can make Italian CB so good...

His system seems easier for Italian CB. Kudos to Bastoni :eek:blivious:
