CB is such a hard role to break in to as well, especially at a big club. You can afford to fuck up as a striker, you can afford to be mediocre as a midfielder, but you cant afford it as a CB. It's a role where, to have a good game, you have to be perfect the whole match. To have a good game as a striker you can have 89 shit minutes and score the winner.
That's why a lot of CBs breakthrough at smaller clubs. Really impressed with Bastoni - obviously he played a decent amount of first team football last season, but it's a different level entirely.
