Exactly. Atalanta is where they are because they trust their scouts to unearth the proper profiles and develop them into their system. We can't say we don't have money - we've outspent Atalanta tens of times in the last ten years, yet we've only won one Scudetto and some cups.

Look at Napoli. They bought a couple of relatively unknown players in the last couple of years while doing a massive revitalisation of the squad. Didn't spend that crazy money, yet now they have a squad that is probably on par with ours in terms of assets. Kim, Khvicha, Osimhen... that's 300M right there.

Let's face it - nobody cares about Coppas and Supercoppas. Nobody even cares that we were lucky enough to participate in the CL final. We had no chance. Yet, Atalanta is making profits and almost constantly in European spots while selling their best players yearly. Napoli has won as many Scudettos as we did in the last decade...

We are currently locked into thinking we're in the good ol' Moratti days of being a financial powerhouse. We are not and should've moved to a more Napoli/Atalanta-like model a couple of years ago already. Like it or not, the EPL owns European football. No one can compete. Without a stadium, our best bet is to sell and buy players smartly. Yet we are trying to be competitive, getting people with absolutely no resale value, which keeps us somewhat competitive, but it can only continue for so long. This isn't a valuable business model for us.

while I agree we need to reassess our business and operations model, there's no need to stoop to the level of Atalanta or Napoli. (BTW I like how you conveniently only considered their recent successes, for all their profit Atalanta have fuck all to show for it trophy-wise).

No need adopt a loser-like model. We're a top 20 club in terms of results, historical achievements, trophies won, etc., meaning we're ahead of roughly 3000-4000 clubs worldwide. That's 3000-4000 clubs with players available to us either on loan or out right purchase, provided we act fast and decisively and the contractual terms are favorable. At the same time, we should scour the youth academies of PSG, City, R Madrid, Sporting, Ajax, etc. for exceptional talent

P.S. You might not appreciate our coppas and supercoppas, but in sports you're in it to win it, otherwise why bother contesting? And as someone said, coppas are the building blocks to a winning mentality i.e. further trophies down the line. Also trophies attract players, coaches and fans. As did our UCL run last season. Pretty disrespectful of you dismiss our efforts last season. Personally I couldn't be more proud.

We COULD scour youth academies, but that would require effort and planning.

Your point does remain. I refuse to believe that there are less than 10 players in world football that Inter could get to fill what should be a squad role.

This dude has a point, our budget is constantly shifting depending on a striker we are trying to get, almost like we are sabotaging ourselves, which is inexcusable this late in the mercato. It was well over a month ago the whole lukaku fiasco happened, we had more than enough time to figure out what we want, and yet we look like all of that happened just yesterday.

This is the most accurate post here in the past 2 weeks.

Obviously we'll set different limits for different players. But as the guy in the tweet said, we seem to be jumping from player to player with a completely arbitrary budget where the only constant is that it's conveniently under what they're asking for. If we had a budget of 40m for Lukaku, could we not have paid the extra few million to secure Scamacca?

What's equally confusing is that these forwards all fill different squad roles. If we spent 40m on Lukaku as we initially planned, or 50m on Balogun, that would by default, make them the designated starter. This in turn, implies the coach and management feel we lack a current starting quality forward alongside Lautaro. But then we go and look at fucking Arnautovic? Sanchez? These guys are clearly designated backups. So, what. Is Thuram good enough to be the clear starter all of a sudden? Or is fucking Arnautovic deemed good enough to start now?

What is the fucking point of all this? Are we just hoping to luck out and stumble across some idiot club willing to sell their forward to us at "under value?" From what I'm seeing, the only idiot here is us, wasting all this fucking time while we have MASSIVE holes in our squad with 1 week until the season starts.

We maybe be a fucking top 10-20 club in terms of results, historical achievements, trophies and so on. But the actual conditions are different. Serie A is a shadow of what it was, Italy is a declining country, no stadium, tv revenue shit and so on. The history means nothing when likes West Ham and Everton come and take your lunch from the table. The history is full of clubs who once where powerful and now are mediocre.
When I and other talk about Napoli or Atalanta model, you don`t translate everything one to one. Inter have many advantages over Atalanta or Napoli. We are in a city which has a special appeal for people, we are a bigger name in football, more potent financially. It doesn't mean that the results must be the same as Atalanta, Napoli.
If we establish as a club where the young players could develop well than we will have enough appeal to young promising players.
Look at Dortmund? Haaland was bought there specially for Dortmund`s reputation at developing players. After Sancho, Haaland, Bellingham, I am more than sure that Dortmund will be able to get enough talented kids, because they know that is an excellent place to develop.

We need to get rid of this mentality of bigger club (a reminiscence of Moratti`s era) when we cannot compete financially even with the lower tier of EPL. The sooner, the better.

Tbh I think 30-35 mil for Taremi is a fair price. Remember Milito came here when he was 30 for €28M. But I doubt it'll be this low. Tottenham is gonna get lots of cash from Kane transfer and will definitely go for him.

He has a year remaining of his contract. How this is fair price?

so, the price could be anywhere from 5-20M... I still think its up to Arnautovic to lower the price and make them sell him for less than 10M.

Anything more than a free transfer should not be done.

If these are the conditions, I'd rather take this squad as it stands into the season.

guys do you think that when we sell Gosens, we will have money to buy some 35 year old striker? Perhaps Falcao?

Did he extend his contract with Bologna? Because, I think he got 2 years deal, when he went there. I could be wrong though.

Forget young players, onana Hakan and darmian have shown us what is possible. We just need more of the same. We have a winning core and trophies are on the horizon. Would be nonsensical to throw that all away to pursue a mid table club mindset out of frustration that we can't compete financially with spurs or west ham. Esp when just months ago we showed we can compete toe to toe a billion dollar club.

If Gosens is sold the money should go for Augusto, if the latter is not sold to another club by then.

I would’ve called you insane a week ago, but given the disastrous last few days, I wouldn’t say no. We’ll never even consider it though.
