If Morata was coming on a free transfer, I would understand. But €20 M, for a 31 year old striker Morata.

I would rather take Martial if that’s how low the standard is.

not morata please..especially not at that price and cost… would rather sign mariano diaz who would offer same thing at lower salary as free signing

why aren’t we taking chance on free signing like mariano?

our other target is either too expensive or not impressive/clinical striker either..

If Atletico decided to sell for 15m, Morata will come one hundred percent.

Balogun price never be acceptable for Inter budget. We never spend more than 40 million, its only can be spend when Zhang had fetish about Lukaku.

Morata's wages are almost triple Balogun's. Their annual cost is almost the same.

I read that Roma offer 4.5mln to Morata, and when Milan were linked to him, the rumour was 5 mln. Which means he will cost around 9-10mln gross. For Balogun, I saw 3.5mln + GDC, it will be about 5mlm gross. So, it's double, not triple but Balogun's contract sould be longer, so the annual cost could be lower than Morata's.

Morata to me only makes sense as a 4th option. He would be a great Correa replacement, however he’s probably too expensive for that wage wise. As a 3rd option with Correa still in the squad it’s a tough pill to swallow when you were counting on Lukaku. A lot of pressure on Lautaro to score the goals because Thuram is still a question mark in this system.

Morata is an upgrade on the Inter version of Dzeko but certainly not Lukaku.

I do wonder if we are to get Morata in place of Lukaku if that changes money invested in other positions?

It seems that our idea was to sell Onana, and use that money for Lukaku + 2 goalkeepers (this operation might have been slightly more than Onana's sale). This would have meant the other 3 positions (wing-back, centreback, midfielder) would have been free transfers or loan+option deals. If Cuadrado comes, that means there are two positions left to fill.

Morata would most likely cost half the transfer fee of Lukaku and less in wages? I wonder if that means we'll look to invest a transfer fee into one of the other two positions (Centre back + midfielder). Knowing us, most likely not but we'll see.

Lol Mariano's number of goals in the last 5 years are less than Morata last season.
I'm fine with Morata if price <= 15 mil. He's not as bad as people say, he can offer more than what Dzeko did in the last 2 seasons.

Balogun is a very risky deal. Just checked his stats last season, 21 goals but 6 from penalty. Which means he scored 15 non-penalty goals from 21 npxG, that's a horrible number.

I totally understand we cannot rely Lautaro and Thuram all season long, but I am surprised we can spend 40 M for a backup striker. Is it the sign our financial situation has improved?

And please no Morata ffs. The most glaring weakness of our frontline is their inability to convert chances. Comments here suggest Thuram is not a lethal finisher while Lautaro and Morata would have a race for the most misses in a season. Combine it with his age and fees involved, our mercato team should stay away as far as possible.

Morata doesn't make sense just fking put up with Wanda and welcome Icardi back. He is a much cheaper option? also scores more...... I know he is a shit head but so are half these guys
I read that Wanda was diagnosed with blood cancer, so Icardi won't think much about football on the field.

Underperforming your xG by 6 is not just horrible, it's horrible horrible. Imagine an average finisher, he would need 7-8 open goal misses, Lukaku vs Fiorentina kind of misses, to come up with a -6. Also for reference, the worst Lautaro has underperformed his xG was -1.9.

But if you choose to look on the bright side, 21npxG is really good, on par with Openda on per 90' basis. So if we believe that he had a really unlucky season and his goals will eventually converge to his xG then he can be a good pick up.

If after Cuadrado we also sign Morata as a starter I won’t see a single match of Inter upcoming season. I’m done. Loosing Handa, Skriniar, Brozo and Lukaku and replace them with (Gobbo) trash as Morata and Cuadrado. It’s too much
We replace Bellanova & Dzeko with Morata & Cuadrado

It wouldn't be horrible if it was for 25m euros, not 60.

21 npxG means he was expected to score 21 non penalty goals from the chances he had. He played 37 games in L1.
