Fun fact:

Nagatomo has played more games for Inter than Vieri, Ronaldo, Adriano, Brehme, Crespo, Cruz, Djorkaeff, Eto'o, Ibrahimovic, Klinsmann, Mathaeus, Milito, Rummenigge, Simeone, Sneijder, and Zamorano.

Now he's close to beat Maicon, Pagliuca, Samuel, Jair, Recoba and Toldo.

The mystery of all mysteries. How did this even happen?

If there is ever a player that personifies our troubles the last 7 years, this is him. That fact is depressing

Jersey sales is such a lame excuse on keeping him. Depressing to think he has and will play more games than many club legends.

If Nagatomo makes more appearance than Zanetti, I'll jump off from the top of Tower of Pisa.

You will still be alive and see Nagatomo playing for us, just in a wheel chair...

Zanetti started when he was 20 to play with us, Nagatomo started at 24 if I'm not mistaken, and Nagatomo has been benched for most of the past 2/3 years, so he would need to play for us until he's 45 at least

The reason this guy is still here is because back then some genius decided to extend his contract with a pay raise. My dog would make for a better sporting director cause I'm sure he wouldn't have done that.

If he stays this season I think I'll buy a shirt with his name on it and his Yogatomo cd since I'll consider him as a legend.

I've come across Nagatomo's official instagram account. The Japanese comments are all supportive (of course), while almost every other global English/Italian comment are all about telling him to get the fuck out of Inter, and many are also cursing and insulting him. That's really rude and I didn't expect him to be hated that much among non-Japanese fans.

Almost every Albanian football facebook page makes fun of Inter through Nagatomo. I'm sure it's the same for almost every other non-Japanese page/site.

No reason to hate on the man personally...his performances blow and he isn't good enough for the team. Management is to be blamed for keeping him around this long.

I'm generally against attacking a player in such a strong manner, but with nagatomo, I almost think he deserves it. not being able to learn the ropes of the language (not even English... he always communicates in Japanese) in 7 years is bad, but let's put that aside.

you would think that at least in such a long period he would learn how to defend. i mean, sometimes in football 30 y.o. mediocre players are preferred to the talented but young ones because you know they will get the job done, even though they won't shine.

but it's not the case with nagatomo. he only plays well against salah, who has gone to England. :yao:

seriously speaking, the question arises: is he merely even less talented than the average mediocre defender or did he never bother to learn the job? and i'm inclined to think it is the latter.

He speaks Italian fluently.

How can you make a totally false statement with such certainty?

Look up any recent interview.

this is what i'm doing these minutes. he barely reached in 7 years the level you're supposed to reach in 6 months. you might want to review your idea of "fluent".

also, this is his twitter: https://twitter.com/YutoNagatomo5

I went through the latest months and couldn't find anything that wasn't in Japanese, except a "we are leaving for brunico".

I'll admit I exaggerated a bit, but the guy is closed in his own world of communication

Wait, so you expect from anyone from a foreign continent to speak better Italian after 7 years?

Fluent in the context of him being a foreigner. He's isn't going to speak it like a native, it's stupid to expect that.

I don't know if you're being serious or just joking regarding his twitter page. He's Japanese ffs. Of course he'll write in Japanese. Doesn't mean he doesn't know Italian or English.

I don't know what point you're trying to prove here

to be honest, i don't understand what point YOU are trying to prove. my point is very simple actually: people sometimes defend him claiming that he's at least a good guy and shit, but he's not.

he's not stupid (he has a Bachelors in economics), but when it comes to his actual job as a footballer, he just doesn't try hard enough. and it shows in everything, from the communication to (above all) the pitch.
