No I think he means the German teams offered him 50% higher wages and he turned them down.

MILAN – Yuto Nagatomo is held in high regard by everyone at Inter. The Japanese defender has just finished his sixth season at the club and can now look forward to a long future in Milan, having signed a contract extension until 2019 midway through the season.

"He’s a great team-mate. He always gives his all for the team and holds nothing back," was how captain Mauro Icardi described him.

"He loves the club, always works hard in training and is a wonderful professional," said coach Roberto Mancini.

"He’s really humble and professional and became part of the family right away," added club vice president Javier Zanetti.

His first start of the season came away at Palermo in Week 8, a match he followed up with a masterful performance in Inter’s 1-0 win over Roma in Week 10, during which Nagatomo kept the dangerous Mohamed Salah impressively quiet.

The Japanese’s other standout performance was in the 1-0 defeat of Chievo in Week 23, when he created a number of chances for his team-mates while helping to keep things tight at the back.

Wow. Never seen us doing the same to any of our players. Its like he is about to leave or something. Its funny that they mention how good he was agianst Roma, and how they mention keeping Salah quiet, because that's his only good performance this season. Also note that all the praises he got are personal, not footballing-wise. It seems like he is indeed in love with Inter, because this is simply the biggest club he ever played for and he knows no bigger club will come and knock the door for him. And I dont care about that as long as he keeps working hard and shows determination for the club. That being said hopefully he stays away from the starting eleven next season because he has been dreadful this season.

This is nothing new. We value players who been here a long time above actual good players. As long as his contract is still low wages he isn't a bad back up. Just def not good enough to be a starter for us.

Him as a sub and starting Copa Italia and Europa league not bad. Tho I would have preferred to give a shot to the Italian LB that we have on loan. Forget his name

Apparently Utd did come knocking if reports were true.

A club that renews the contract of some Asian player like Nagatomo (let alone signing him in the first place) is not an ambitious club and has no future. Our brightest future with this kind of management is 3rd or 4th place in the league in addition to some mediocre European competition early exit by some Ukranian or Belgian team.

It's sad for me to state this realistic opinion about my club.

I think it's his suckiness and not his Asianness that most of us dislike

we should get rid of this guy tbh, before the season starts. by any means necessary.

im serious, we have been shit the whole time he has been here. anyone noticed that? our management sacks mancini for questionable results but they extend this cunt and they did so for ranocchia as well. how is this possible? everyone knew this was a stupid move and they did it anyway. the incompetence is still here it doesnt matter who is the president tbh

--

i know mancini resigned because he wanted to have a say in transfer dealings. everyone knew this so in the end they basically pushed him out when they demoted him to coach. we will see how this turns out.

Probably he is the most diligent player in the team like JZ used to be. That's why coaches after coaches and still no one drops him out.

He'll be 30 next month and his contract expires summer 2019. He'll see out his contract and maybe sign a one/two year extension before retiring with us. There's no point on transfer listing him, because no one will buy. Mazzarri perhaps, since Yuto's stats were best under him, but I don't see him ever dealing with Inter.

He was actually sought by other clubs and turned them down last season, so in theory we could offload him.

But if we were to sell him, we would have to do it now, in one year or two he'll be less fast and thus will attract even less interest from other clubs.
