I really don't get what this obsession with ball-playing goalkeepers is... Sure, it gives you a bit more resiliency against high-pressing teams but there aren't that many in Serie A. Torino were one last season, and the others are the "big teams". In Europe, maybe that's an edge, an extra. That said we really don't need extras right now, we need the fundamentals - good defence and focus in front of goal.

Look at Onana at Man United - he's already conceded 4 goals in 3 games... Yeah, he can't be to blame for all of them but I'm pretty sure he's made at least one or two mistakes doing his fancy goalkeeper-sweeper antics. I think he got lobbed like an amateur in preseason.
Napoli, Atalanta, and Fiorentina all play(ed) that high pressing style of football that we struggled with greatly until Conte arrived. It's more prevalent than you think.

Interview with swiss national TV it s in swiss german though....

I tried to keep it as close to the original as possible hope it still makes some sense
Translation:
On san siro and the inter fans: I have to be honest it s an incredible atmosphere at san siro... really it s crayze.
I only had one game in san siro thus far but it s loud (laughs) it s really loud, it s loud it s emotional, theres lots of passion from the stands..
Those are the reasons why we play football those emotions the noise in that stadium.. you just realize that the inter fans living in milano live this club 100% and thats beautiful
On his 2 transfers in 7 months: It s been a wild ride, if one would have asked me 1.5 years ago... I had a very not relaxed but continous career @Borussia many years great situation then in a very short span everything changed, we ve moved twice now as a family experiencing two complet( the complete does also not make sense in swiss german) club worlds. the time at Bayern was very successful for me ofcourse it was also wild we ve experienced a lot we had a lot of changes also a lot of chaos in those 6 months but we still became champions in the end so for me a very successful time.
And now with the change to Milano another big club a slightly different mentality, different culture different country, again moving with the family which comes with a lot of work. Interesting as in i enjoy that very much and am looking forward to the next months with this team with this club and try to get the maximum out of it.
On his first impressions: You enter a new environement of course everything is new different way of doing things new people new squad new city. you need a couple of days to get used to it. Til you know whos responsible for what how the mechanism works also the language is different first time for me that i play in a team where german is not the main language and thats a change but the club made it very easy for me as well as the team welcomed me very fast.
And the city well everybody who knows milano knows how great of a city that is so about the life outside of the club i dont worry at all. But even there you need some time to organize the private life so that everybody feels 100% comfortable.

On criticism after the 1st game( friendly): I take criticism very serious and am open for criticism but not for all of it , it s normal i come new to a club and am here for a few days and then people judge a friendly as if it was a CL game that is of little use to me.... but thats the way it is these days and i can handle it well...
If you come to a new club you need a bit of time all players have that you dont know the team you dont know the club you might not be fully focused cause you still need to organize stuff around your move, thats why i m very happy how we started the campionato it s always important as a team that you start good that you start with positive experience and that you can build on that and we succeded in that

Speaking in an interview with SRF, Sommer first reflected on his time at Bayern Munich and his transfer to Inter last month:
“At Bayern Munich it was a new, but very valuable and successful experience. Now I’m at Inter and I am the number one, that changes a lot. Inter were waiting for me, the feeling is good. People already know me from the World Cup qualifiers.”

The 34-year-old then spoke about his relationship with goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli.
“The relationship is very good. With Spinelli I work mainly on strength, explosiveness and passing.”
Work in progess 🫡

He speaks Italian fluently, if I’m not mistaken.
Sure Sommer is okay with basic Italian. He’s Swiss after all. But it’d probably take Benji 2 months to get a good grasp of Italian. More practical to just use English I guess? Probably easier for Bastoni to learn German tbh…
Why would Bastoni learn German lol?
It`s an italian club and the language spoken in the team is italian. Anyone joininig should adapt, like Yann is:
“I feel great and I want to play football for a long time to come. Milan is a great city and I feel very comfortable at the club, even the people help us. I understand a lot, but I still have some difficulty speaking.” - Sommer

Yep fun fact though there are like 10 different swiss german dialects wihch can be quite different from each other...
Guy doing the interview for example is speaking Basel dialekt while Sommer is speaking Zurich dialect...

Imho it is pretty far away from the Dutch but heard that comparision often enough

A German friend had once told me that when she went to Switzerland for studies she wouldn't understand a thing in Swiss German. It felt like a different language 😀

I've read multiple times that German television stations need to use captions when talking with someone speaking Swiss German.

What are you talking about? He is actually better at the goal line than Onana, Onana is just superb in distribution.
I trust him savings shots
