First, the USA didn't win it :D
Second, it changed after WC 2002. Thus Brazil had to play in quals for 2006. Only host nation goes through automatically and that's how it should be. Like the Euro, if you are good enough to defend your title, do it just like everyone else ;)

You sound like a doctor compared to Gtrain Yuko;)

Thanks for the info. We will get that fifth star, regardless of having to qualify or not.

Don't let Cyprus get you in such a crap mood. ;)

Ahh crap England appoint Capello. I was really hoping, they would go with O'Neill or whatever that guy's name is, and then get dumped out of the Qualifying.
With Capello I don't think they can get dumped out of Qualifying, also considering the comparatively easy group that they have.
Player on Player I think Ukraine and Croatia might be slightly better than England, but Capello is a much better coach than Billic, and who ever Ukraine might be able to afford.

Still I am pretty sure, England under Capello wont win anything. They jsut dont have the players for it. At the end of the day, Capello is not a magician.

I sincerely wish Capello all the bad luck in his English adventure, and hope that he gets sacked after England fail to qulaify for WC 2010.

In a way I am glad Capello went there. Capello is one of my most hated coaches ever, but that guy is a winner, and has a reputation of winner, lets just leave it to the english's to tarnish that. I really do hope they do an "Ericksson" on Capello.

Okay, didnt know where to put this, its an article on Guardian about Capello and England. For some reason, Euro 2008, didn't seem the appropriate thread for this. And I dont think neither Capello nor England are important enough to have their own separate threads, I am just gonna post it in the WC qualifying thread. Qualifying is the key word, as I feel, that when in 2 years, we will be opening a WC 2010 thread, it would again be inappropriate to discuss about England and Capello over there.

Anyways, here are the main points from the article which I found. I dont know if they are true, made up or exaggerated, but I found them pretty funny.

During Milan's money-spinning tour of China at the end of the 1996 season he deployed a three-striker formation in a friendly against a China XI, but then pulled Paolo Di Canio for a midfielder at half-time to protect a 1-0 lead. When Di Canio asked why he cared so much about the result of a friendly, Capello shot back with a barrage of expletives and added: "Your face looks like a pen*is." Di Canio never played for Milan again.

:D

"In my house there are no pictures of me with trophies or cups," Capello has said. "Those sorts of things are closed away inside boxes.

Sick of perceived laziness from Ronaldo at Real Madrid he resorted to asking him "Aren't you ashamed of being so fat ?" in front of his team-mates as he left the showers. The striker was sold to Milan the next month.

 loooool

"People say I'm impatient when it comes to football and they're right," said a man who has made abusive gestures at fans more than once, most recently in Real Madrid's 1-0 win over Real Zaragoza in January. " Why should I waste my time listening to people who are clearly less intelligent than me?"

ROLF. I think Mancini should say this to the people on this fourm, who criticize his every decision, if we loose a game once in a blue moon.

"I never watch matches I played in or coached," he has claimed. " I only look ahead."
This is kind of stupid, as one is supposed to learn from his mistakes, but funny none the less.

The whole article.

Great stuff, Shahz. Let's see how Capello handles Rooney. He's probably England's most talented player and he certainly does not have the longest fuse.

Ok lets switch it up to Asian Qualifiers..

Two Suprises

Bahrain 1-0 Japan :D (I predicted it btw)
Uzbekistan 3-0 Saudi Arabia :wth:

Other interesting results was Kuwait 2-2 Iran. The Iranians had two goals scored inside 3 minutes.Must be the quickest two goals in the history of football. The first was a beauty by the player the second was all Kuwaits goalie's fault.

Kuwait can still avoid losing? nice.

I'm surprised that there are still some football players left.

They actually played well after conceding.Lost lots of chances.Their weakest link is the goalie. That was clearly seen last night, but its not only this keeper as i have seen others make mistakes for Kuwait that are unforgivable.

Their attack and buildup was really good but the strikers are abit either selfish or arrogant and got frustrated quickly.

Iran didnt show anything .Besides the first minute double kicks, there was one clear cut chance that they missed but they have disappointed those who think of them as an Asian powerhouse. Last night all the Big Asian cats disappointed.

Italy and Cyprus together :)

And Greece has the easiest group ever! :shades:(and we must thank Croatia for this ;))

It's because they have won EURO 2004. It will be the last time they had an easy group :)

I am :p

Jose is already talking to Leo:

"Do you have any brother I can buy? Because right now I can't buy you" :p

It worked with Drogba, so hell. Maybe it will work with Leo too ;)

Not a very good game to watch, defense defense a little more defense, Batista and Messi the only ones creating some danger.

Yeah pretty much and even game. Both sides didn't want to loose this one, so there was a lot of fight in the middle park, and a lot of quick switching posession.

I was good to see Adriano though.
