My take on the situation is that was a clear penalty, Benatia was lucky to not get booked/sent off. Unsure as to why Buffon was sent off, but whatever, the tie was over at that point; Buffon sucks at penalties, and you don't deny Ronaldo moments like that.

Was reading about it before I seen it, all the shit Buffon was saying I was expecting it to be an outrageous decision. After watching the highlights there now and for me it was a stone wall penalty. Jumped into him and pushed him, I understand Buffon was upset with it all but he was wrong and the ref got it right.

Watching the highlights, it seemed that Juve just stopped attacking after their 3rd goal. Once they were level, they became so defensive as if they won the game. This mentality is Juve's undoing.

Buffon had his chest slightly pushing the ref and his left hand right on the ref's face. If Sneijder got a red card for clapping from 10 meters away, surely Buffon should get a red card there.

I thought it should be a second yellow for Benatia as well though.

Missed the game as I though it was over anyways. Checked highlights, not sure what the fuss is all about. It looked clear penalty to me. Didn't watch multiple replays and angles but from the first one it looked penalty.

Anyways great come back by Juventus. Good to see the gap between Madrid/Barca and other clubs is reducing.

Edit: Watched videos on reddit, looks like very close call. You can make argument both sides. For me it was penalty.

I'd probably give it myself if I were the ref but if I had to consult VAR, I'd recall.

Vazquez was already falling down before Benatia reached him, a hand or two on a player in the area is quite common, otherwise we'd have 15 penalties a game and with the videos I see that Benatia hit Vazquez's arm (or chest?) which is new information for me, but I still don't think that's a pk. It's not like Benatia shoves him, Vazquez just feels the arm onto him and dives even harder.
Watching it over and over I still don't get it. Too tough to call imo. It's even tougher when it's the last situation of a game.

The penalty was called at 2:30 injury time. The initial injury time was 3 minutes. Then the brawl took about 5 minutes. The ref added 1 minute.

Exactly this. Juve engaged in so much gamesmanship it was unreal. Even when they finally made the sub, Sczenzny took an age to get into position.

Look, there was contact but yes the Madrid player went down easily, but no more easily than Higuain did against Benevento. The referee was put in a position where he had to make a decision. That benefitted Juve on Saturday and cost them yesterday. That scum needs to shut the fuck up and get on with it.

Whaaat?! Vazquez wasn't falling down, he moved his body in order to hit the ball with his head. And Benatia broke Vazquez's balance thus preventing him from shooting the ball.
