The biggest problem is that Sima doesn’t change him even he is already dead. Now in other games, except the derby, it’s time to use our young players such as Frattesi, Aslani, Tajon. Why the coach doesn’t want to prepare them for the next season is a big question for me.
Because non of the mentioned guys can fill in Miki's spot as a starter. Frattesi is a super sub great attacking option for the last 25-30 minutes, but lacks the overall awareness, especially creating space and defensive work. Asllani is Hakan's sub and Buchanan is a wingback. Maybe Zielinski can solve the problem, but I still see Miki starting at least 50 percent of the games. And he is not dead, he will outrun circles to any player out there. Show me a 35 years old guy in the league who started more than him and runs more than him.

Honestly I don’t think he is, Roma is only interesting if you care about the two historical periods where it mainly shone, but besides that it’s a dreadful city. I take several other Italian cities over it any day of the week. It’s also completely overrun by American tourists, Firenze would be nicer if not for the fact it feels like visiting the Vatican in rush hour.

Basically capital cities in Europe is generally best avoided, overrun by tourists and generally not the prettiest, nicest of the respective countries the cities are located in, although there few exceptions.
You are probably right.

For anyone who wants to visit Spain. Kindly visit Sevilla, Granada, Asturias, or Bilbao much rather than Barcelona or Madrid.

Small towns such as Cordoba and Ronda are also nice choices in Andalusia.

I like Segovia and Toledo from places you can visit from Madrid. Didn't go to Santiago de Compostela yet but I hear it's also very nice.
But Madrid is a great city. Barcelona looks nicer but isn't.

Valencia is also pretty good. I think Spain is probably the best place to live and/or visit in Europe so I could ramble on.

But I stand by saying that in order to appreciate a big city as a visitor, you need to get your shit together and have normal expectations. Unfortunately most people cannot afford that, either mentally or financially, so everyone just complains about how bad something is when in fact it's them who are all backwards most of the time because they assume that everything has to fit in their world rather than understand they're in a new environment that has different foundations to their own.

Like someone told me how shitty Paris is, because he stayed in a hostel near St Denis, which was practically a ghetto and 90% of their experience was within that area.

Morale of the story. Do tourist shit because that's why you're there, but don't be a (cheap) tourist.

Also notice this with football match thread reactions, but that's for another time even if it's the most appropriate thread

Agree I far prefer those, add Cordoba and some of the white villages to that list… Andalucía is a lovely region in fact my preference when travelling in Spain due to its influences from so many different cultures. That make it one of the cultural most interesting part of Europe.

Barcelona is not my cup of tea, overhyped and although it got some interesting architecture, I still found it rather unappealing.

Paris is actually fine if you know where to stay and go, unfortunately it went largely down the drain in recent years. But you still find far nicer cities in France than the capital. I must admit I chuckled a bit over the St. Denis part, I also heard people say paris is bad and they stayed in 10Arr rofl. Also many complaints over 18, 19, 20 Arr. so there many cases where it simply down to not knowing the city. Although I personally have no issue with Montmartre and Pigalle area many find it dodgy.

In Italy Roma and Milano are just places I largely want to avoid.

Croatia is a place I also frequent and I just avoid Dubrovnik and Zagreb of much the same reason. There I love Dalmacija and Istra regions.

You're American, your budget is normal for someone crossing the continent, you don't come across the same difficulties.

Most European based travelers are on an extremely low budget and have expectations that every freaking neighborhood and restaurant should be worth it, no matter how dodgy or indecent those establishments look.
And then they complain that "x city was not nice", because they flock at the tourist spots like ants and then they go back to the freaky neighborhood they picked to stay at, with inconvenient means of transportation, and instead of experiencing a touristy vibe they spend their weekend/week like someone who's working for minimum salary and commutes an hour to get to work.

Number 1 rule of traveling is to expect to spend on a 5 day trip as much as it costs an average person to live well in a month in said city. So check the cost of living in the city you wanna visit and if your budget per day isn't at least close to 25% of that amount, probably check for alternatives where you'll have more fun.

If you're going to London for a week and you're not willing to spend $5,000, I'm sorry but you're not ready for that city and you cannot appreciate it. And you're going to complain that the food sucks, because if you don't spend over £80 a head, it probably will be disappointing. And if it costs £200 or more, you'll still be hungry, so don't be so pretentious and find something in the middle

I know this will scream snobish, but it is what it is.

This is also why all these people are excited when they go to Southeast Asia, half of the Americas or parts of Africa. Everything seems dirt cheap so they enjoy the luxury life. Only in a handful of areas will you see people staying in hostels over there and saying how amazing it is. That's how people who can afford a proper Paris or Rome vacation feel almost anywhere they go.

ha I'm not saying that one cannot survive with cheap food or anything, but you cannot go to Rome, eat crap that not even the guy selling it would eat and then go back home and say "the food in Italy was shit".

Lol

Rome isn’t nice compared to other places, it’s touristy as hell, you go there because of the historical sites mainly not really because it’s a Nice city. I known several locals from that City that moved because they found it overrun and touristy, because no privacy left, prices hiking because of over tourism that forced many locals out of the city. There so many much nicer cities in Italy that don’t feel like the vatican in rush hour and like one big tourist town… but unfortunately that what Roma is today.

you can easily find affordable accommodation all over the city, you just have to book well in advance, your just writing pure nonsense, the only reason people end up booking in shitty neighbourhoods is because they think they can book a few weeks before high season and still get a decent place.

I can guarantee you find local restaurants that charge fractions of what most tourists frequent and is multitude better… I even ate at Michelin for less than what some tourists pay at tourist spots.

Also I come from a much richer country per capita than Italy … I don’t really think cost is really much of an issue, here we can afford exactly the same as an American in fact more because we have cheap flights there.

Restaurants here are far more expensive, so is hotels people only stay here 1-2 nights because they can’t afford more and end up paying more than a week in Italy. So here people end in some more remote areas and take public transportation that is also expensive, but we generally have fine public transportation so it’s not as big of a deal here, bad neighbourhood also hardly even exists.

Mkhitaryan was very good today, but I agree that he needs to get more rotational role next season.
We know it's not Frattesi. Your bet is on Zielinski, but let's see.

we were talking about London, the last time I was there I don't think I went to a restaurant because the street food (korean, mexican, serbian) was just too good and a lot cheaper

on the other hand, yeah, 6 years ago I was in Milano and I was eating like a king, but still I wouldn't say you need 5k euros for a week of London/wherever. Even eating kobe beef was about 100 euros. I couldn't eat like that for a whole year, but for one week? Easily.

Eating in Italy is noticeable more affordable than north and Western Europe, I found it not much different to that Croatia. I go both places regularly and is just not comparable in prices, a Michelin restaurant cost no more than many mid level restaurants in North and Western Europe.

So you can still eat like a king for modest spending, eating well in north and west easily set you back €100-300 excluding drinks pr. person.

Ha you misunderstood.

In Milano of course that figure drops to half of that of London.

First of all, half the budget typically would go to accommodation and those are really spicy. Obviously a lot of people in Europe have friends who already live in such big cities so that alone is alleviated, but location-wise it may not be great, so you'll still need to burn money or time in rides or commuting.

You can definitely go somewhere and enjoy it on a budget. Heck, I've been to Greek islands and stayed with friends and once I paid just 100 euros over 4 days, 40 of which was the cost of the ferry and 20 was just something I decided to buy as a gift. Still managed to see the entire island and have lunch and dinner at a couple of great local places.

The thing is, the majority aren't capable of finding the balance between balance, enjoyment and experience, unless they are the type that goes to picnics or camp at concert venues out in the field.

And I'm always talking about a tourist, which automatically means a first-timer with no attachment or acquaintances in the area.

If you go to London as a first timer and you want to see as much of the the city as possible, you need to select a location to stay where it's safe and convenient to move around. Which typically would mean Marylebone/Fitzrovia, Paddington, King's Cross or Liverpool Street for the most affordable central locations, otherwise you can check Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Kensington and Belgravia. I mean, you can definitely stay in Shoreditch, Notting Hill, London Bridge or somewhere in Zone 2, but you're just be getting the vibe of a rather unique area rather than experiencing the city when you do that. No one says you cannot survive eating on Camden street food and staying in Shoreditch for a week. It'll be cheaper, but you're essentially becoming a uni student somewhere rather than a tourist.

For actual tourism, where rest matters (I wouldn't know about this rest thing, but I can value it  ), location matters, speed and efficiency matters, quality matters and having points of interest within walking distance matters, well, you gotta spend big. Otherwise you're going to complain that you didn't like it.

A lot of people when traveling take their habits with them, in a completely alien environment, and then whine that it's not a good place to do whatever they want to do. There are probably more people sharing their habits in that city than they'd imagine, but they've adjusted them to the city. They cannot get to do that.

Traveling as a concept has always been a more niche thing that's subconsciously paired with relaxation and nice fancy experiences that you cannot do at home, and now that everyone can hop on a plane, train or bus and get to another country for a weekend, we're still having that expectation, but most people cannot really "up their game" in a city that's x5 more expensive. And then they realize that the Instagram blog they saw and liked is not even worth it in real life, they blame the city rather than themselves.

I'm pretty sure you @wera can get around anywhere, it wasn't personal :D But I think you can concede that the majority is incapable of accepting the harsh reality of how travel and tourism actually works. There are significant cultural differences.

Nevertheless, we are an inch away of mathematically securing the title, so no big complaints from me. Maybe we needed this as a fan base given how majority of us were already in hibernation mode.
This was very much needed. Pure energy bomb in the end.

Same. There is no way I'm spending in 5 days what some are spending in a month. I'm not travelling for food and fancy shit anyway.

Venezia is scenic.
Torino is nice.
Bologna is cool.
Ravenna, also cool.
Verona is cute.
Siena beautiful.
Lucca maybe even more beautiful.
Some other places in Toscana area are very nice.
Cinque Terra region is scenic, not just the five main spots.
Praiano is scenic.
Tropea is scenic.
Puglia even has some very interesting spots.

The Lago di Como and Lago di Garda surrounding is amazing. Also check Lago d'Orta and Lago Maggiore

And Sardinia, especially the northern part, is possibly the most beautiful part of Italy.

And many more. Napoli actually isn't that bad either. Has its charm.

Add

Matera one of the least Italian looking cities, very scenic as well and its culinary scenery is in rapid growth.

Yep North Sardegna, Siena & Lucca are very nice in their beauty

Venezia has turned into a bit of a tourist trap, very scenic but so overrun that it’s not particularly pleasant being there and everything is overcharged to an absurd degree. The other smaller villages in the area is far less crowded and also have their scenery.

Actually, whole Italy is beautifull. But, the best in Italy, are people. I never had any problem. We Serbian, like them very much. Espresso, nice dress, good parfume, not to much work and lots of talk. Life is good.
