I tend to look at forms and whatnot. Somehow class was cancelled but this time I chose not to make the thread. No worries.

im usually optimistic about our results.. but fuck are we winning vs udinese.. if by some miracle we do, then we could get even closer to UCL if other results go our way

not with this weak defence and creative midfield of chuchu-stankovic-...

I know it's tempting, but it's not the best time to be optimistic... not yet, as I shall explain:
Udinese is simply a formidable force at home (11-4-1, that's 37 points in 16 games) in fact at home they're the 2nd best team in serie A, better than Milan/Roma/Lazio the lot, while we suck pretty bad this season when playing away (6-2-7, including those troll 1-0 wins under Ranieri).
My biggest worry is our defence. In Strama's 3 games, not only have we condeded 7 goals, but our 3 main CB's (Lucio, Rano and Samuel) have all committed stupid mistakes as if they were in a who's the most retarded defender competition. Samuel will be suspended so possibly we'll have Lucio & Rano (or Chivu, with Naga at LB) as CBs with Castellazi at goal. I don't know about you but with a defence like this I think Udinese is bound to score 1-2 goals. Hopefully Sneijder will recover in time, and if Strama have balls I want to see a midfield & attacking lineup like this (probably won't happen though, I just don't wanna see the Stanko-Cambi duo playing another 90mins):

---------------Milito--------------
---Alvarez----Sneijder----Zarate--
--------Guarin--------Poli---------

If we can somehow win the match, then 3rd place will definitely become a realistic target, but for now let's just wait and see...

When were the days when Udine means 3 points coming our way? Udinese is always a hard rock to beat for us, never an easy game.

its not fair from your side to underrate udinese so much. You should really give credit to this club, that i have big respect for. They have a god team and guidolin is a genius too.

I feel udinese has just been better in recent years. It was pretty tough the last time we played at Friuli.

I don't understand the reason for saying Udinese was an easy 3 points. They were always a tough matchup. Bit shortsighted in hindsight and a bit arrogant.

Gone are the days when we we ridiculed by most teams in the league.....and could barely reach euro qualification! We were once the laughing stock of serie a, would be the whipping boys of our fiercest rivals, but our great presidente has taken us to heights we couldn't have dreamed off. Yes......for the last couple of seasons we have fallen back abit, but how much of a struggle it was to get there in the first place was absolutely ball breaking! It's funny how some pessimistically look at shit always as being half full.........

Btw udi was never ever an easy 3 points!

If cambiasso and stankovic both play in midfield we will be easily overrun in that department.

This game is in 3 days. I wonder how many of our players would have recovered by then. I think Strama will be dipping into his reserves for this one. A pity really, since it will be his toughest game yet.

I bet Guarin will start. Maybe even Poli. Obi on the bench/injured, and the rest might be Cambi. We will see. Also, i am thinking Strama will deploy Lucio - Chivu defensive duo, with Naga and Zanetti as full backs.

Cesar
Zanetti-Lucio-Chivu-Nagatomo
Guarin-Deki-Cambi
Alvarez-Milito-Zarate

That's my guess.

I would say Poli will play instead of Guarin. So, it might be something like this:

JC
JZ-Lucio-Chivu-Naga
Poli-Deki-Cuchu
Alvarez-Milito-Zarate

It looks to me that Stram is trying to rotate between Guarin, Poli and Obi. Each one of them has made 1 start. So, it's Poli turn for next match.
