Thinking of going inter railing for 3 weeks around europe with my girlfriend this summer. Any of you guys every went and got any tips? Also don't know if I like the idea of staying in hostels in mixed dorms with my gf either but everything else is expensive!

Any advice will be greeted with the very sought after thanks

You heard of Air BnB? Usually cheaper than hotels but not as grimey as hostels. Basically you stay in a spare room of someone who lives in the town/city you're visiting, which is great because you usually get someone who is personable and gives some advice for things to do nearby, transport and stuff. I used it in the states last year, and am using it again when I go to Berlin and Amsterdam next week (recommendations on those two appreciated btw!).
Have a look anyway: https://www.airbnb.com/

Never went to Europe but my bro and his wife went on a 10 days trip to Milan, Paris and Amsterdam. According to him Amsterdam was the best of them all and he'll definitely visit it again as soon as possible. Milan would be a good destination but without Inter games it's kinda useless. Paris though you shouldnt even think of going.

If you go to Milan and are looking to see Da Vinci's Last Supper painting in person, make sure you pre-book tickets and don't just turn up on the day to see it. Learned that the hard way.

Awwww, I liked Paris but never think about going there without a reservation it's a really bad idea.

And Barcelona (I haven't been there) but I really want to, everybody says it's amazing.

cheer man ill make sure to do so!

I went up to barcelona last year but only for a day. Amazing city. Was an incredible day but can't say too much considering I didnt even stay over night, was staying in Salou. some of the buildings there are amazing, and obvioulsy have to go to the camp nou. Reasonable though, only 35 euro. I remember checking my girlfriends camera after we left the stadium (knows nothing about soccer) instead of getting a photo of the subs benches, she had taken pictures of the 4th officials seat

Paris is rather expensive in basically everything according to my brother, he didnt enjoy his time in Paris but that's maybe because of tje incident that happened to him, he was robbed in the middle of the street, while he tying his son's shoes, a plastic bag of some toys he bought that was put on the stroller was gone within less than a minute, thank God it wasnt some important things like phone, wallet etc. Not sure if this happens often there but it happened there too to two of the people I know. In short, if you are well prepared financially you should be enjoying it there, but also be a careful.

Also another nice destination would be Turkey.

Ive heard its expensive but that can happen anywhere,

I was robbed in the store at San Siro before my first ever inter game!! buying a jersey, then next thing bang, wallet and about 140 euros gone. I now have to admit since this I wear fanny packs with absolutely no shame

An alternative to Airbnb is http://www.housetrip.com
I've used it when i needed a place in Paris and Budapest.
About Paris, me and my wife, we stayed at a little apartment at the periferie, when we where like the only two white people there, and we had no problems at all. The metro is awesome, it takes you anywhere you want. But please, don't buy iPhones on the streets :D

Budapest is also an amazing city, so beautiful. Also, i recommend to you Wien, Praga.

If you want to visit the see, i can recommend Anzio or Santa Marinella near Rome, or somewhere on the beaches of Sardinia.

Lisbon is my top destination. Barcelona is meh in comparison.

In Italy I've been to Rome and Milan. Rome is awesome, history everywhere; Milan is meh, if there are no games or youre not into shopping fancy expensive shit.

BERLIN. This is my favourite city by far. It has everything; a lot of modern art and at the same time all its crazy history.

- Olympiastadion
- Reichtags building
- Gedächniskirche, a bombed church that hasn't been renovated. Take a walk on the nearby shopping street (Kurfurstendam) while visiting the chuch.
- Tiergarten. While there go past the Siegessaule (Victory tower) and walk up to the Brandenburger tor. Behind it is the amazing monument raised for honouring the jews.
- The Sachsenhausen concentration camp is located north of Berlin.
- A former Stasi prison (Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial) is now a museum and a visit worth.
- Alexanderplatz and the TV tower. Generally spend a short time in the former East Berlin and see how fucking sad the architecture is. It may show you the difference the two governments had when it comes to personal freedom.
- Museuminsel, a museum with a great amount of art.
- Kreuzberg, a district in the centrum with a lot of old beautiful buildings and an interesting community because of its amount of immigrants. Take a walk along the channel, Landwerhkanal, and see its beautiful nature.

I have for sure forgot a thing or two to see but check out websites about Berlin.

Edit. Aaaah I forgot Union Berlin. It is one of the cult clubs in Germany. I have sadly never visited their stadium but I will for sure do that the next time I'm in Berlin.

Then of course see the remaining pieces of the Berlin Wall; Checkpoint Charlie is btw overrated IMO and a waste of time. Explore the old Stasi prison and take a trip out to the TV tower in East Berlin and the areas surrounding it just to get a feeling of how the traditional East German architecture was. The Sachsenhausen concentration camp is located north of the city and is a visit worth. Then finally I will mention Museumsinsel (Museum Island) for its art, Kreuzberg for its combination of old beautiful buildings combined with its immigrant community and finally take a walk along the Landwerhkanal (Landwerh channel) while you are in Kreuzberg.

I have for sure forgot a thing or two to see but check out websites about Berlin.

sounds like you'd need a week to see all of berlin. lol thanks man, had heard very good things of berlin!!

I´m biased but I like Porto much better, and everything is much cheaper, food and accommodations, we have low cost on our airport so it´s all relatively cheap.

If you both decide to stop by send me a PM, I´ll see if I can come to you to show you the city.

We should have a travelling thread btw, it´s one of my favourite things to do. I´m going to Wales and Scotland 10 days in July and maybe to India or Croatia in September it´s a great way to avoid the daily routine, meet new places, culture and clear the head for a few days.

Never been to Porto but I'd gladly visit Portugal again I'd even live there.

Croatia or India, wtf man :-D it's not like they're even remotely the same.

I'm going to Copenhagen this December and in Bologna next February to travel to Venice and Florence. Both super short and low cost of course, 4 says.

Btw, is there something like a feud between lisbon and porto. Cause some guy in lison, when asked about Porto wasn't too happy to discuss it. Ahah, i guess it's a football thing it's root.

Yeah, I know, I was planning online to go to Croatia on my own.

Then an opportunity appeared to go with some people from my photography course to India, it´s just a possibility at this point since we need a minimum of 7 people to make it happen and it´s not that easy with all the different schedules, work and all.
So it´s between the 2 places for me atm.
