A much needed victory; staying within three points of the lead is rather important and we can't (or at least oughtn't) lose to Torino, another great away victory for us.

I watched the game and listened to Scarpini, and I enjoyed watching:

Milito's goal (early, powerful, one of the few Milito chances, just beautiful)
Handanovic (couple great saves, filling Julione's shoes impressively so far)
Ranocchia (amazing game for him, there were a couple moments where it was doubtful whether or not he would make the right decision, but tonight he always did)
Nagatomo (always running, he was everywhere, gave a few good crosses and always gave his due, running back for defense, even getting some important headers in)

I was not pleased with some of the long balls we attempted when Torino wouldn't press Handa or the defense; I feel we should keep those and try for low-risk attacks. Losing the ball after a long launch led to a couple of chances for Torino that had me worried. Except for the assist, I was not so happy with Alvarez (also didn't realize that his jersey says Ricky this season); that said, he definitely redeemed himself with that assist.

Ok, just raed the thread. Happy with the result but if it was a chaos like in Pascara (happily not defensively, but still) then I am super happy with the result, but extremely worried about the future. For ppl who wonder why we play better away, that's because when we play away we don't have to try to control the game, so given by that when our opponents makes mistakes we can easily catch them with thier pants off. In san siro it's diff, 50k ppl are paying to see you so you must atleast try to give a show, that's why we sucked so bad defensively cause when we play with too many old attackers and not so great midfield, our defender's life would be much harder.

I am happy to see that Juan and Frog did well today (Juan was a beast in an EL game aswell so it's not just one match). that proves that serie a experience is not required for every player, sometimes it's worth doing a gamble with younger, inexperienced players and u don't must loan them all.

and when credit where it's due, KUDOS to strama, he made one shaky defender from last seasons like Rano boss, and made freaking Juan who sucked against u-21 teams play great aswell. I don't remember a time when I read so much good stuff about our defense. Maybe last time was in the treble year. So that's actually the first thing i am impressed off strama since he joined us, so let's wait and see, he makes the fans have much more faith in him that way.

btw i can't believe "fans" writing milito off not even an hour after he scores a stunner out of nothing.... LOL.. I can understand how low u can get - a few weeks, a few friendly matches..... but in the fucking same match he scores? I really hope I missed the sarcasm in some posts here or else you ppl most be stoned. Milito can be as invisible as he wants to be as long as he scores goals. Simple as that. He's a striker, not a fucking midfielder or defender. We want nothing but goals from him, we got it, and you want him subbed? LOL
inb4 posts saying how shit and tired he was, by that logic we should've not even started him..... LOLFANS

*I would understand if it was when we were leadin 2-0, but 1-0 in an away is NOTHING, and u always need your best player playing, espc when he's a striker.

Agree with most of the post-match comments. Milito had 15% of a chance and he managed to create a spectacular finish. I am also very unhappy with the way the midfield is creating chances, most of the time they try to lob the ball totally bypassing the midfield, such is the problem we have. Having possession, midfielders are taking poor passes and simply not moving the ball around enough to create chances, without possession there is no cover for the defence except for Cuchu who ends up playing as an extra CB thus allowing loads of space in the last quarter of the pitch. Cambiasso was doing a quality job today, players in his role have their best games when they are not constantly part of the play but are rather administering the back-end of the team, his efforts are duly noted thought!

I'd love to see the team play more as Strama's primavera, they used to rarely play long balls and simply moved to ball around...pass-and-move, although our midfielders are on the slow side so it's a bit difficult to implement. Really waiting for Couty to join the fray, we need his pace desperately!

Also saying that Torino is a Serie B side, etc etc etc, please remember that in the last two years we always had problems with the small teams who play pacey, physical football, so I'm happy with any win at this point, as long as this helps to create a constant improvement in the side! :) Also, I do believe that Toro had as yet not conceded any goals this season, thus showing how compact their defence was!

Another thing Cuchu deserves credit for is the fact that he told Milito to leave the ball for Cassano in our second goal, Cuchu's looking better and better he's a leader in our team tactically and him dropping deep meant it was harder for us to get caught out.

Which has absolutely no relevance to his post, as he described tactical movements.

But those tactical movements were hardly noteworthy for the fact that.. they only took place for the final ten minutes.

Dull and unspectacular game, but still an important win. Maybe Torino is not the hardest badass we will meet this season, but geez… it’s good to see no more embarrassing matches like those against Novara last season, turning Inter into Serie A’s LFC. :palm:

1) Trio Handanovic-Ranocchia-JJ was fantastic today! Nice to see that our defence is developing and not only prosperous on the paper. Even if Samir has not much to do today… still :datass:

2) We have to buy a class winger this winter... ok, not class... any winger! Nagatomo and Jonathan were awful... definitely the worst Inter's players today. Guarin and Alvaro - mediocre today, so chaotic...

3) Nice to see Cambiasso doing his job well, and not only by boosting the others' confidence as a veteran.

4) Strama's Inter is still chaotic, but less like against Pescara (didn't see the Roma game though). Guy has a vision and seems to be great tactician, so I hope that if we give him more time, he could really repair the team. Ok, today's match was extremely cautious and not entertaining, but, geez, we are going to have really tough upcoming weeks so only the win matters.
(Despite the fact that we play extremely cautious from a very long time as if we have a CL final each week :troll: )

Not really understanding a few of these negative comments.

Understandably, we need to create more chances. But does this mean we played bad? Hardly. We actually played a very smart football game.

I also don't agree with the statement that we constantly put our CBs under pressure. I think the opposite actually. I think Strama this year is putting importance towards that. Normally the back two have to stave off multiple through balls because of a non-existent midfield. I think we did extremely well in assisting the two CBs today.

It is also really difficult to create chances with the one-striker system we play.

At home against the smaller teams, I clearly don't want to see the same. Due to the nature of the game being different, we will need to take the game to the opposition. For this, I want Palacio, Milito, Sneijder and Cassano/Coutinho on at once.

1st we must divide this match from our usual tactic. They have nothing in common so we can't generalize in no aspect after this match. Saying that we use long balls , no creativity etc has nothing to do with our base tactic that plays in a completely different way.

That said we must accept that this was a poor match in my opinion. As i said in the Strama thread , i don't understand why Inter must adapt it's game to Torino with almost 0 injuries.

Unlike the previous poster i wouldn't call this a smart football match. Or better , it is indeed a smart tactical approach but it would be evaluated as such if we weren't Inter or if we were facing Barca & co. Since we were facing Torino it is unacceptable in my opinion to bench Palacio , Cassano , Alvarez & Cou in order to start a more balanced team. (I don't dare to think what we will do to face Juve)

We won thx to a goal that came from nowhere and to a PERFECT performance of the central duo. Some may say that they are expected to deliver performances but in all honesty it was completely normal that one of them could have lost an anticipation tonight since they were constantly in 1vs1 duels. The same could be said about that high line offside position .

Anyway i'm happy with the win of course (since it gave me some money too :D ) but huge improvements are needed. We are not even close to a consolidated team play. On the positive note : We have a great GK who transmits calmness to the team , we won 2 CB , Gargano demonstrated even in 10 min what he can give to this team and Cassano is a very important player whether for 90 min or 30 min.

You said we won thanks to a goal that came from nowhere. A goal? Now I'm confused because we scored two goals. Not sure which one you referred to be the winning goal.. is it

A goal at such speed to the corner of the goal like a thunderbolt. It did not come from nowhere. It wasn't a fluke. It was a powerful precise strike. A world class striker can only strike like that.

OR..

A goal with a smart low cross from the left, a dummy move by a striker to fake the defender, followed by superb first touch and a good timing curve ended with a precise strike. It did not come from nowhere. It wasn't a fluke. It was a good teamwork. Very high standard of individual technical abilities.

It was so great seeing Milito helping in defence, especially at the end of the game. Guarin, Alvarez and Pereira need to work on their passing game (don't know what's with Guaro, but I can understand other two still need better fitness and more confidence in their play....but Guaro?)

Lovely seeing Rano and JESUSFUCKINGJUAN bossing around. More of this, please.

I'm sure you have the capabilities to understand what i meant.

We are among inter fans here and we can be honest , so we can leave the smart asses for juve and milan fans conversations.
The goal (and of course that i mean 1st) came out of nowhere because it was by no mean the product of an organized attack. Milito did a great goal but was a result of a ball rebounding in 3 torino defenders and then a long shot that isn't even part of Milito's goal scoring history.

We were lucky and i take that ,but as i said huge improvements are needed.

WTF?? Were we wearing our old away kits??? Why was that??

I loved seeing them again in the highlights though... Refreshing after that red bullshit... I guess the players and club themselves also got tired of that red shit! Fuck Nike!

ON THE ROAD, IT’S FANTAINTER

Milito and then Cassano: Torino K.O. Inter are four out of four away from home.
The Nerazzurri are perfect away from the San Siro in the league and Europa League: 10 goals scored, zero conceded.

Turin – Inter are unstoppable and playing away from Milan would be enough. The Nerazzurri have had four victories in the four away games in the league and cup competition with 10 goals scored and zero conceded. These numbers are really amazing but now they have to conquer the Giuseppe Meazza and the match on Thursday against Rubin Kazan in the group stage of the Europa would be a start. But meanwhile at the Olimpico in Turin, the decided factor was the class that the team has in Milito and Cassano but Inter also impressed in other departments: security, determination, and for constantly applying themselves. Just look at Ranocchia: the cure called Stramaccioni seems to have regenerated the young Italian defender. Elegant, bold, never give up the ball: dear Prandelli, these are the conditions that worth the national team. Another player that shined in Turin was Juan Jesus, born in 1991: a hard as rock stopper but yet agile and responsive. If he can improve his feet, he can be very close to the player that Thiago Silva is because Juan has the same physicality and explosiveness.

Movement It was a game that is not very spectacular but it was always intense and interesting for the moves made by the two coaches. The team of Strama was covered by the two duos on the wings in Jonathan and Zanetti on the right while Nagatomo was with Alvaro Pereira on the left. Evidently, the young coach of Inter was quite concerned with the outside pushing of Torino and studied the opposite move to slow them down. Stramaccioni also ordered Cambiasso back in the middle of the two central defenders everything the team started the action. Inter were able to control the game without worrying much and there was also the prowess of Principe Milito. Meanwhile Ventura was looking for something to give Inter a big blow with the double substitution in the second half with Meggiorini and Cerci. It was not a tactical change but rather, a bigger push with more dynamism that created more continuous occasions.

Sneijder and Cassano The Inter coach did not hesitate to sacrifice Sneijder (seemed rather annoyed after the substitution) for Antonio Cassano and before that it was Ricardo Alvarez. It was the Argentinian which provided the low cross for Milito who fooled the defenders and let the ball end up at Cassano’s feet who had no difficulty in putting it back of the net. This was just a classic win (9 straight wins in Turin against Torino) that conveys confidence. Inter were not brilliant but they showed strength, conviction and the desire to improve. For Torino, they left the stadium with the applause of the local fans who appreciated the efforts and understood the anger of Bianchi whose finish hit the shin of Inter goalkeeper.

You can say 'We won thanks to A goal' only if we scored that goal as the only goal. The fact is 'We won thanks to TWO goals' and they did not come from nowhere.

A great team is not only scoring goals from build-up play but also taking opportunity from opposition defence weakness or fault. That is what we did. The defender made a mistake and Diego Milito punished them. That requires a world striker to take that opportunity.

If you said something like Cassano's goal vs Roma as a lucky goal, then I'd agree.

By your logic, our last win in Milan derby was lucky because Abate made a mistake allowing Milito to score.

Haters keep hating.
