Zhang statement was a cry of desperation because he is running out of time. It reminded me a similar statement from Yonghong Li on the eve of Elliott takeover.

Yeah imo there’s no need to put out a statement like that unless the reality of losing the club is imminent. I believe it’s on the brink of happening.

Yeah, I guess Zhang has realized that he has already lost it. I hope Inter will be in better hands.

I think Zhang's were lucky that club was run by competent directors during their regime, especially post-pandemic era.

I don't think we would be as competitive as we are these days, hadn't Marotta and Ausilio been around. I'm also not too worried regarding new head management as long as these two mentioned are gonna remain here in the near future, unless the club does under a drastical change which can take a complete different direction, otherwise there is NO need to panic, at all.

Lucky???

Only Inter fans could look at a series of deliberate retentions and appointments and call it luck!

No, what is your point? Because calling it luck, when you're appointing one of the best directors in Italian football, seems unfair? He made a very deliberate set of appointments, and unsurprisingly that's been good for the club

Luck was supposed to mean for Marotta and Ausilio taking care of almost everything. Zhang was nowhere to be seen even during a difficult period while team was struggling. Then again, Steven has zero experience, also lacks authority and looks very incompetent as a club president. I even think there's other people involved in Marotta's appointment as director. Pretty sure JZ, Ausilio and others had their impact in this matter.

Suning deserves credit for making Inter competitive again, but I'd give more credit to our directors rather than Steven for example.

But that's exactly by design...

Zhang I suspect gave up having a lot of influence on Inter after the first couple of years and seeing how it went wrong. He appointed strong managers, and gave them room to run the club how they wanted. The man deserves huge credit for knowing to keep his hands off the toy - its not 'luck', its actually a great sense of self-awareness and knowledge of ones own limitations. He deserves a huge amount of credit for that, it'd have been asy for him to be an arrogant, involved micromanager that really fucked things up

and, yeah, our directors deserve a huge amount of credit too. They've done phenomenal jobs in challenging circumstances.

Let's be real.

They kept some core football people around but everyone else they hired simply left them because they were meddling with everything.

Sabatini for example. He brought us Baccin who stuck around, but he fell out with Suning and simply left. They didn't replace him and then Marotta fell out with Agnelli and they pounced. That was 19 months later or something.

You can say that them not meddling was deliberate but they kept disrupting the operation flow during covid. And they pretty much abandoned the club then and threw baby Zhang as some management genius. The people from Suning who were running the show pretty much stopped working on Inter since the spring of 2020.

It's not like they made Marotta's life any easier and the only thing that happened was that they found people there that were committed to the club and followed (shitty) orders. They could have very well clashed. It's not like these guys were fond of the working conditions laid out.

[EDIT] and I'll add that the reasons they didn't clash was that they managed to create a nice team and they also knew that clock was ticking for a new owner to arrive.

Praising them for going autopilot is not something I'd subscribe to.

Everybody at the club know that Marotta is the one that does everything at the club, Zhang Jr. is just an quasi-owner.

Fuck Zhang Jr. I'm sure players don't give a shit about him and they'll be happy he is gone.

I'm pretty confident players don't care as much as the rest of the staff who'd be relieved. But given the uncertainty, they're probably withholding the parties as a fund taking over may risk their jobs.

It's surprisingly low-attendance in the thread though, I guess most have come to terms with the inevitable change and uncertainty.

Don't have one.
Oaktree will come and nothing major will change, imo. Maybe one or two people from oaktree will enter the club board and that's it. They will not dismantle something that works fine, and they want to sell. We will be under their ownership for a few months, maybe even a year, before they decide to sell.

Doubt our mercato will be affected as well coz on that front we won all the trophies despite zhang not because of him. Yes, he brought and kept competent people, but those people had to work under severe restrictions because of his loans.

Imo that's why there isn't much excitement or worries, especially shorterm hence everybody from inter mngmt even in the last night celebrations looking pretty calm even in their statements. I think they know, despite the love they are showing to zhang, it's time to say goodbye.

Long term could be tricky, i m hoping for some sugar daddies or saudis, that's the easiest and maybe only way inter can be competent on the highest level from a country like italy and the league like seria a. The other way is for the future owners to find another miracle worker like marotta, but those people are rare as fuck.

I would say before they managed to sell.
