Zhang family is a better owner in the football world. He only has one unforgivable sin: changing Inter logo to the current one, everything else is good.
Another arguable point is about our finance. We despise the fact that we have been selling our players for the recent seasons to sustain ourselves, but perhaps it was because Zhang spent a lot before Covid hit.
However, their management decisions are mostly on point. We are currently the best run club in Italy and perhaps one of the best in Europe. The appointment of Marotta and Zhang's willingness to not intervene his decision are one of the best thing ever happens for Inter.
I am not impressed with the decision of signing Antonello a permanent contract after the Crypto scam though.

I’ll also say they make some really bad decision making at times that is borderline naive. The best was hiring people that could control the sporting side, but financially it’s been mixed where some has been dubious.

I d add 2 other things which could be better. Firstly the stadium: The main thing we re financely behind is that we dont own a modern stadium.
The other thing are the sponsors. We earn far less than other clubs from Nike and our main sponsor beside being more successfull and have a big name.

Iirc cafe made a point that with Nike we get profit share on sales so it actually ends up being comparable with more upside? Esp in a season we won the league

Yes, as mentioned in Inter financial situation thread, our Nike deal is okay. We get 21.25m base fee. Plus bonuses (assume trophies, maybe CL success). Then we get the merchandise profits. LAST season we got 10m net profits (something around 13.5m revenues, 3.5m costs). THIS season the projection is 24m revenue (so profits maybe 18m?) which I honestly quite don't believe until someone tells me that was the case.

Anyway, last season we got over that 30m mark with the kit revenues already. Someone like Milan is hard capped at 30-31m with Puma.

Eh? I actually think our current logo looks better than the old ones. It's not like they changed our logo significantly or remove its identity, it's just modernized.

Which one? The one in your avatar or the circular one? The new logo is far easier to market than anything Inter has had in the past.
fr. doubt some teenies or people in their early 20s would buy merch with our old logo from inter store, maybe only sell to some old fans.

It's modernized crap.

It looks nothing like our historic logo
well still rounded and look similar to our prev logo at least, unlike other clubs like juve changed their logo significantly

Nah come on guys-- the original inter crest was beautiful. And we've made some good modern versions since, but the classic design is near universally admired for its aesthetics.

I don't think our new crest is horrendous by modern standards but also I don't think we should have strayed so far from our heritage to appear "hip and modern."

Yesterday, Inter President Steven Zhang participated in an interview on Douyin (China Tiktok) with a commentator who is also a dedicated Nerazzurri. During the interview, they discussed various topics. I am translating summary of the key points they covered:

Regarding Inzaghi and the difficult period last season:

If you ask the club or the players, I have also discussed this matter with them. I believe that at each stage of the club's operation, different people and different circumstances are needed, different players, different expenses to achieve our goals at that time. The first goal is definitely to get into the Champions League, because once we're in the Champions League, our morale, our push for the highest honor, including the entire club's finances and revenue, will change. So, I say that our cycle laid a foundation for growth at that time, and I want to thank all the players and colleagues who were at the club at that time.

I think with the coaches I've worked with, you'll find they are all champion coaches. I think overall, for me, Inzaghi now is a coach who can give me a lot of confidence. Because I know that in every game, or before and after every game no matter what happens, everyone can make more stable decisions or thoughts, or continue to move the club forward. For example, it was quite difficult in March last year. But I think at that time, the coach set a very good example, and we slowly came back together in a game against Lazio. Yeah, I remember Gosens scored that very important goal, and then his whole arm dislocated.

In such a situation, a coach can stabilize the team and the entire situation, and continue to win. We eventually reached the Champions League final, which is a very difficult quality. Because normally, some coaches or some staff, or some players, their mentality might collapse. Actually, think about it, facing so many people, so many media, living in Italy every day, living in Europe, so many people talking about these things in your ears, it's really hard, we may not understand, but you're really tired in that work environment, in that situation.

Moratti's significance to him:

For me, there's a very special relationship between Moratti and me. In my current position, I can feel some of his past feelings, and perhaps only he can feel some of my current feelings. So, after winning the scudetto, I hope I can call him and tell him that Inter Milan still remembers him. Actually, when he bought the club, I wasn't prepared to manage this club. It was many of Moratti's own remarks at the time that pushed me into this situation. I remember the first time I went to his house to meet him, I was just there to communicate about work. But some of his subsequent remarks, some of his thoughts, pulled me into this blue-black world, changing the trajectory of my entire life. Because when I was in school, I never would have thought I would manage a football club, and I didn't even know what that represented. It was only later, after going to Italy and seeing the fans, that I truly understood the differences in cultural nuances through the eyes of the fans and the atmosphere of the stadium in each country.

Inter's Management

In terms of the current work situation, my management team already understands or knows what I want when I don't speak, because I've been with this club for 8 years now. Basically, the people around me have been working with me for at least 5 to 6 years, so they probably know my responses or what I want. Therefore, our communication is relatively smooth, and I hope they can give me a truthful answer.

I believe that's how management in a company should operate, so that everyone can move forward. If I pressure them or let them deceive me, that's possible too. However, I don't want it to be like that for the long-term work or the office culture.Piero Ausilio is our sporting director, and he has done a lot of excellent transfer operations. If I remember correctly, the first transfer he made without a fee was De Vrij, who is now a very important player. And there's Lautaro too, About half a year before that, during Christmas, Marotta told me about him, a very good forward, and said he needed my support. He said if I didn't sign him, if I didn't support signing this player, then I wouldn't be a good president.

That was the first time he had been so sure with me. So, gradually, I began to trust him. When he said that, I felt that if he was so sure about a player, then he must be a great player. So, I told him I trusted him.

Then he flew to South America, and I said, no matter what, at whatever price, if it's a good player, let's sign him. You can negotiate the price later. During the negotiation days, he would call me every day after talking and tell me roughly what the situation was. After all, South America is quite far away. Eventually, I just told him to sign the player. Since he was so sure, just sign him. You don't need to tell me too many details. And now, all of this has become history. It turns out that this player has become our captain. Yes, but I remember distinctly.

if you don't let me sign this player, then you won't be a good president. Haha, others might get angry hearing that, but I felt quite certain at the time. My sporting director was confidently telling me that, so I decided to do it.

Marotta's arrival was definitely a very important moment for the entire Inter Milan. His arrival further stabilized my mental state and accumulated experience. Because before this, I had never had such an experience. Someone with such rich experience and having won so many trophies, his coming here is to provide me with more stability and confidence when making decisions or handling affairs. However, as a CEO, his responsibilities are not limited to selecting players or negotiating details. In addition to focusing on Ausilio's work, he may also need to pay attention to operational matters, including managing the details of the team, even from the grass on the field to player transfers and contracts, as well as contracts and recruitment work for everyone in the youth training project. These are all areas I would inquire about with him. But I wouldn't ask Ausilio about these things because Ausilio is my sports director, responsible for selecting players.

Behind the CEO, it starts from ticket sales, from preparing the pitch, from negotiating with sponsors, including daily operations. After all, on the Inter Milan side, we have hundreds of employees, which is quite large in Italy, and then there are contract relationships with thousands of players. So, another CEO, Antonello, is responsible for managing more people, mainly focusing on some of the daily operational details. So, it may seem like our main focus is on transfers and such, but in reality, a lot of work goes into the daily operations. It's just that during transfer periods, there may be more actions regarding company moves for me, such as personnel changes, adjustments in organizational structure, which I handle during the summer transfer window.

About the gift after lifting scudetto:

To be honest, they usually make requests to me, and I generally fulfill them. This is also a weakness of mine, haha. I know other clubs might not do this. Every year after winning the championship, we have a tradition where I discuss with the management. Part of it is specified in the contracts, which everyone has, but they also make requests outside of the contract, either explicitly or implicitly. Depending on the situation, I will gift everyone, including staff members. It could be a gift or another form, because I believe that despite the club's losses, as a sports club, especially Inter Milan, we must prioritize sporting success. So, I must instill in everyone the confidence to strive for success, starting from the beginning of the season. That's our direction.

2018 Lazio Match

In 2018, facing Lazio in that match, to be honest, when I watched my own video later, I felt I cried miserably. I think if I were to experience the same thing again, I might control myself a bit, because I really cried miserably that day, and the players who saw me also felt I cried miserably.

This is the most turbulent moment for me, facing Lazio in 2018. Because I haven't told many people, but that season, the 2017-18 season, was when I was solely responsible for the club. All decisions and signings were made by me, and I executed everything according to my own ideas. I felt a lot of pressure that season because I wasn't sure if I was doing things right, and the company also put pressure on me. Ultimately, it's still a business, so when we started losing games after the winter, I began to doubt if I was doing things right. The last game was against Lazio, marking a historic turning point for Inter Milan's revival. At that time, Spalletti was also a very successful coach.

Regarding the experience of the Champions League final

To be honest, I never thought about that that just because previously I watched the Champions League final live probably three times - once with Conte, once by myself, and the first year we entered the Champions League, usually watching it on TV. Once, when I went to watch the Champions League final with Ausilio I stood there watching them receive the trophy, I thought to myself when I could lead the team to the Champions League final. We hadn’t even made it to the Champions League at that time. It really felt distant then because it seemed like everything was so far away at that time, but everything changed in these few years.

Last season's Champions League final against Manchester City

Actually, I was quite happy after watching the first half. Why were we so regretful? Because we really played quite well.
