I get it that we've been shit for years, now that some of us even consider "playing or not playing in EL" an option.
To me, we should aim big; if we can't get thru CL group stage and end up as 3rd placer, then we'll fight in EL no matter the outcome will be.

Some of us think that we have prio in scudetto race than getting more exposure in Europe, that's not wrong tho.
But we are Inter, no realistic shit is realistic enough for us.

We got this!

Must win game? Both of our summer midfield reinforcements are out?
Who am I to call on? Lucien Agoume from Sochaux?

Lets just hope the pitch is muddy as fuck , as it appeared to work in our advantage against Torino

Our CL run was over after Dortmund scored the 1:2 in the previous game.

It is going to be REALLY tough getting 3 points tomorrow. Barca are not playing well atm, but even when we're at our A-game, you simply never know when your opponents are messi, griezi and doctor lecter.

What are our chances of progressing if we can bag 4 points from the remaing games?

4 points will be enough only if Dortmund get just one point in the remaining matches. Dortmund are in a bad shape but i am afraid they will probably beat Slavia at Westfalen. We need a miracle to qualify to the next round.

Slavia would be top 4 in Serie A

Nah, they'd barely be 15th. The mentality is what changes in Europe and the fact that they are playing to win a championship every year. Teams like Sampdoria, Genoa and Fiorentina do not have that element in them, but their individual quality, player by player, is greater than these teams.
This is why I'm heavily in favor of loaning players to these kind of teams in Czechia, Greece, Holland, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey etc depending on age and expectations. They need championship experience, not just to play around. And the pressure to win in these countries can be immense.

It's also why some random Serie B club comes and is playing extremely well without any serious reinforcements since promotion (ie SPAL recently, or Sassuolo and Chievo when they got promoted), whilst others are just wimps in the first couple of games (ie Lecce this year). Most teams that get promoted are like "okay, now let's save our spot here", but a few of them have the mentality to just keep going. That pays off usually. But they may get an occasional thrashing (ie 7-0 loss) every now and then until they cement their place in the league.

Give this Slavia team a perennial Serie A tenure and they may get relegated after 2-3 seasons. But give them a game vs a top team and they're very likely to fuck you over.

That moment you realize we’ve played 18 games in total this season and Sensi has missed 8 of them already :palm:

As some sources said, he must’ve been rushed back and re aggravated his injury. No other explanation as to this bullshit. Going on 2 months now without him. Fucking ridiculous.

Also I don’t like the idea of benching Lazaro (again) after strong recent performances. I heard he took a knock on international duty so I assumed he was being rested against Torino. I’m not against starting D’Ambrosio again on one of the flanks but only if Lazaro is the opposite wide man. Playing Candreva & D’Ambrosio or D’Ambrosio & Biraghi sounds fucking idiotic to me.

Lautaro save us. Because god knows that midfield isn't going to.

I really hope Sensi is fit for Roma. We should be able to beat SPAL without him but the Giallorossi will be a different story.

That midfield :palm: And the only midfielder on the bench is fucking Borja

Oh well, hopefully a moment or two of individual brilliance will save the day. As it stands, that predicted team is no better than last years one by no means (individually at least).

We would need Dortmund to not win agains Slavia at home (always taking into consideration they don't get points today vs Barca).
Tbh my prefered scenario would be us winning away vs Slavia and Dortmund winning at Barca.

I would love to see Barca playing in milan with the threat of not qualifying for the 1st time after so many years. I truly believe it would be easier to beat them in San Siro if both of us are pressured to get a result rather then giving messi and co the pleasure of playing for fun...

You want Barca on max gear in the Meazza? You have a death wish mate?

If we get full strength by then with Barella, Sensi and Brozo in midfield I might provoke the idea, but looking at it we'll most likely go with the worst possible midfield line-up vs Barca. I don't want an utter humiliation on our turf that might break the spirit of the boys for the rest of the season.

Let's just get it done today and even avoid EL if possible, that's the most realistic safe scenario atm to try and be mentally and what's left of physically prepared for our domestic battles.

Yep. Best case scenario is that Barca trash Dortmund today and secure 1st place in the group, then field a "weaker" team against us in the last match of the group stage.

Also, Barella had his surgery.

Much as I hate Barcelona, making common cause here and them winning is probably for the best. But if there's a winner-take-all (kinda...) against them at the San Siro? Sign me up for that too.

Basically, win today and make MD6 matter.

Dev, now having read your post, I'll just say I get a different vibe about getting knocked out by Barcelona as compared to PSV last year. We had no excuses for that happening. That it had a knock on effect is no surprise. Barcelona? They're just a bit better than PSV were. There's no shame if you don't beat them in a high stakes game (for both sides; if we don't win when they have nothing at stake, different story).

To me, if Barça drop points today, so be it. I'll take that high stakes meeting in two weeks with our fans in our stadium. That's the foundation for famous nights.

Our youth team is getting hammered 4-1 by their youth team atm. It means we will win tonight BECAUSE whenever our youth win we lose and vice versa.

If Barcelona wins tonight, then Slavia also needs two wins to qualify to the next round...
