I don't particularly appreciate when members on here deliberately change the course of debate when their initial argument weakens, but anyway... Conte took charge at Tottenham when the club's season was already fucked up by Santos. Nonetheless, he managed to snatch the 4th CL spot towards the end of the season being neck and neck with Arsenal until the last couple of weeks. This season he won their CL group and still has a chance to advance further in the playoffs. The club is slowly climbing up in the premier league and currently is sitting in 4th place. All that despite an immense number of injuries. I don't get why you are thinking his style of football is diminishing. I would get it if he was at the helm of Mancity, Liverpool, or Chelsea. He is coaching Tottenham who was in crisis mode for the past several seasons. Inzaghi is nearing his second season with Inter too and instead of continuing where Conte left off, he has been dragging us down yet you are blowing his horns. Should I just conclude that you are hating Conte and that objectivity doesn't work for you when judging his work?

We are playing such unpredictable football under Inzaghi that we win Napoli, then draw against Monza or lose to Empoli at home. Inzaghi is such an attacking style manager that he couldn't outscore Conte's Inter, in a much less competitive season. I mean scoring 84 goals is not bad and I agree we are playing attacking football, but Conte's football had been also rich in goals while demanding from the defenders to keep the defense tight.

Perisic has always been like that. He spends his best season when his contract nears its end. Last year he gave his all to get his last fat contract and just relax afterward. I watched around 60% of Tottenham's games and never have I seen him perform as he did last year. He can't dribble past the defense with his usual trick, his crosses are inaccurate most of the time. He loses the ball too often. Just in today's game, he came on at 75' and showed nothing. Tackled the opponent (Coufal I guess) twice in a minute, and both times didn't touch the ball at all while butchering the guy's leg. It's not related to tactics, it's just he is not on par anymore.

Son felt the competition with Richarlison's arrival. I think his poor performance stems from his anger, that he has to now fight for the spot in the starting 11. If you watch Tottenham closely, you will see he is so selfish, always rushing to get his surname on the scoresheet. He has been wasting many chances instead of passing to his teammates who were in better positions to score.

All in all, Conte is doing good with the material he has in hand.
I’ll say one last thing and for that’s it.

If Conte didn’t walk around like he is some 2x CL winner and went about his business in a normal fashion, then maybe the world would appreciate him more.

But Conte is not a 2x CL winner but takes the piss on everyone at every club he has been at.

In other words, Conte is overrated and he overrates himself. Moreover, Conte is not cute or charismatic in the least.

Going back to Inzaghi, this is a man who obviously can’t impose his presence in a room the same way as Conte, but understands that and goes about his business the best way he can and therefore manages situations and tends to maintain a positive atmosphere.

What bothers me the most with in Inzaghi is that i can’t name a player, apart from Dimarco, who’s actually gotten really better the pas 1,5 year.

Hakan has become consistently good, occasionally excellent. He struggled with consistency before joining us.

Lautaro has also improved slightly, though I think I'd give credit to Lautaro himself for that.

And Dzeko has played better for us overall than he had in his last year or so at Roma.

Biggest fuck up for Inzaghi was losing scudetto to beelan. Other than that he did pretty well, advanced both times CL group, won Coppa, two Supercoppa. His first year here was better than Conte's first year. Well, second season Conte got Hakimi,Vidal and kept his best players,Limone lost Perisic, got Acerbi,Mikhi, out of form Lukaku and two cats in a bag(Asslanni,Bellanova). Our major problem is our owner. Next season Skriniar is gone,we need to sell and cant afford buying anyone relevant. Heck,we cant buy anyone.

Do you trust Gagliardini? What exactly does Gagliardini offer? For me, nothing. Did he bring any defensive stability tonight? If anything, he left even more spaces open after his entry. Asllani should definitely be ahead of Gagliardini in the pecking order.
100% agree. In fact there's no one FIF who hates G5 more than me, I'm certain of it. But let's not act like Asllani is some game changer capable winning games for us. Like it or not, G5 is still more of a goal threat as of right now.

We've made a sizable investment in Asllani, with plenty of games left to go, his moment will certainly come.

Gags plays more cause Inzaghi doesn't think Asllani can play in that role, he only sees Asllani as a dlp.

So now with Brozo back, we might see Calha as a first choice, Brozo his backup and Asllani as a third choice which will give him even fewer minutes.

Mkhi starts every game and most of them fully or at least more than 70 minutes. Those minutes left are Gagsy's minutes, while Asllani isn't considered to play there.

INZAGHI INSISTS ‘INTER CAN WIN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE’

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is convinced the Nerazzurri can win the Champions League and praises Lautaro Martinez’s maturity.

The Italian tactician spoke to Amazon Prime Video hours before Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Porto.

“I must consider many things, including the opponent, before choosing the line-up,” said Inzaghi.

“The coach’s duty is to make decisions and I will always do it for Inter’s good.

“Lautaro continues to improve, he has incredible consistency and victories with Argentina gave him even more maturity. This is good for Inter.”

Can Inter aim to win the Champions League?

“A path is needed. Last season we played very well against the two eventual finalists [Liverpool and Real Madrid]. This season we faced Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Can we win the Champions League? Yes.”

Compare it to this response of Mourinho on the eve of the match at Stamford Bridge in 2010 to the question if he can win Champions League with Inter:

The Portuguese recognises, however, that not even a winning mentality will guarantee UEFA Champions League glory.

"It's really about details – lucky or unlucky in the draw, if the ball that hits the post goes in or out, the player that is suspended and cannot play a crucial game, the timing of injuries whereby a team goes into a game missing two or three key players, a refereeing decision that can go for or against you. Of course, only a very good team can win the Champions League, but I can find seven, eight, nine teams who can win the competition. It's so hard to predict."

Difference is mourinho had a lot of expectations on him and his team. Inzaghi probably try to give the players belief. That's how I'd view it anyway.

And when he then said the legendary words: "We know Chelsea well at Stamford Bridge... Mourinho doesn't lose at Stamford Bridge"

What a legend he is

There's nothing wrong with saying we can win. Doesn't make us favorites. Far worse sides have won before.

Also, I feel like this is one of the weakest CL knockouts in a while. Bayern hasn't been its usual self. PSG has an injury crisis and still didn't settle their midfield and defense. Barcelona is out. Real Madrid looks vulnerable. Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea having shit seasons. City is in a transitional period and not its usual dominant self. Leipzig, Dortmund, Frankfurt, Brugge, Porto are all decent but lack the quality. Benfica lost their early season form and a key player in Enzo Fernandez. Milan is Milan. Napoli has been playing the best football and are easily the best team so far, but there are questions about how they'll handle the pressure as they're in uncharted territory.

Doesn't make us favorites, but there is indeed a chance.

If eliminating Porto means Inzaghi keeps his job then I’d rather go out. incredible what a pussy manager this guy is. Wrong lineup, wrong attitude. We got super lucky they went down to 10 men or we could have played for hours and still wouldn’t have scored

For once he changed the game with his subs. Also got lucky with red card. Second leg will be a big test for him

Definitely.

Lucky with the red card. Then again, we forced it with a good play by Hakan. Was surprised he actually subbed CB out, kudos for that.

I'm not convinced our game plan was correct given how inept we were getting out of our half with the ball. Porto managed to press and cover the correct zones and forced us to long balls. We need to find a key to this.

And we need Inzaghi to instill some fucking fighting spirit and determination to the group. We need to up our game to Porto's mindset levels.
