We can blame the refereeing all we want, fact is that we had our chances and didn't take them, and Conte once again waited until a tiebreaking goal happened - in either direction - before making changes. We can import and export all the talent we want during the next transfer window, but the biggest change in order to progress forward is going to have to come from the manager in terms of his game reading and substitutions, but that's also the department where there's the lowest likelihood of any improvement to be made because Conte's been at this for a long time and is very likely set in his ways, to a certain extent.

Wait until 75 minutes and a deficit before you bring on someone like Eriksen. Wait until 75 minutes to bring on Alexis for Lautaro when Lautaro hadn't done shit all night except for one sequence which ended with him flopping like a fish. That's on him. And if we can't expect much improvement in that regard - his substitutions and game reading - then there's only so much improvement on the whole we can expect for next season, domestically or continentally.

In Serie A and the CL group stages, we threw away 28 points total from games we held the lead in at one point or another. We were the worst in Serie A when it came to blowing 2nd half leads, in particular. I suppose its only fitting that this long season ends with us losing a game where we held the lead at one point.

Lol. 1997, 1998, 2003, 2015, 2017. Five straight finals, five straight times coming home without the trophy. In Champions League lore, you definitely are #1 at something - losing finals.

I love reading peaces of shit like you. Moderators, please ban this Rube user, I think he got lost. This is the forum of teams that don't get eliminated by the 7th of France (when having Cristiano Ronaldo in your squad). Have a good night.

Don't even, let's poke some fun at him first.

Your club has bankrupt themselves to bring in Ronaldo to win the champions league only to lose to ajax and then lyon

Sorry, I wasn't trying to get a dig in against Greece. I was just thinking back to the last time that a team won a tournament that I had no clue as to how they managed to achieve it. Obviously they scored more goals which won the games, but I just don't understand it.

The difference is that Sevilla is the first decent team we faced, their squad level is clearly below ours but it's not a huge distance like the other teams.

But our coach is super shit so he can only win against shit teams, any decent opposition and he crumbles. Also his fucking system doesn't work in Europe and he refuses to accept it.

Whatever anyone's feelings on Conte are, either in general or after today in particular, nobody is going to be able to take you seriously when you somehow feel the need to work in "Conte is shit" to every single g-ddamned post you make. After a certain point, the mantra loses all of its meaning. Even Brehme doesn't work in a "gobbo di merda" to every single Conte post he makes, even if his tongue has bled out by now from the number times where he wanted to and restrained himself.

Well, Chelsea 2012?

They did have Drogba and Torres in their team though, but yeah it was unexpected I suppose. I was just thinking off the top of my head more so than anything, wasn't analysing every final, Euro 2004 just came to mind. Just tyring to make sense of tonight and put it into some context.

Well, we lost to an inferior team. Sevilla did not really win some tactical battle or set up in a way to annihiliate us. We were dismal and let them have the ball when we should have taken initiative.

That was some of the worst, god-awful football I've ever seen Inter play; it was positively painful to watch at times. I can't believe we saved such a shite performance for the biggest game of the season. I'm really pissed off about it all, and especially with Conte. I don't even think I could have enjoyed the victory after watching that dreadful display. We deserved nothing, and rightfully got nothing.

Diego Carlos with luckiest player in the EL award, gets away with a red against Wolves, gets away with 2 reds this game and then scores from a deflection. Scene Done.

Maybe, I dunno. We could hold onto the ball, or you know win the ball in midfield? How about not fouling in dangerous areas? No? We can’t do that either? Then we have serious issues, issues that were present all season.

Exactly they are inferior, to us and to Man Utd, yet still lifted the trophy. Makes no sense. In one off games an inferior team can win but an inferior team stringing results together and winning a trophy is something that I will never understand, just like Euro 2004. It doesn't make sense to me how an inferior team can win so many games in a row and the superior teams seem powerless to stop it when form the outside it seems blatantly obvious what needs to be done.

I am not disagreeing there we actually had more possession this game than we normally have, and ur right in a lot of ur points but i was talking about a specific player not Inter's tactics nor faults that u mentioned.

They tactically outclassed Man Utd, it was ridiculous to watch even. They did lose a couple of big chances, but that's football. Sevilla was always looking as they could control the tempo during the game.

Against us, we just seemed happy to let them have the ball, they didn't outplay us. We just had a dysfunctional midfield where our 3 center backs had better ball control than the five of them. And all we did was go for long balls which weren't really good.

we went for long balls because our midfield could do nothing. sevilla were happy to let our back three have the ball and suffocated out midfield 5 as well as leaving no space infront of lautaro and lukaku. they shut our attack down.

Because we left Eriksen on the bench, didn't use Sanchez or even freaking Candreva until the score was already 3-2 and there were less than 20 minutes left...

Eriksen should have been subbed in at half time. Having the better team doesn't help when you're not utilizing it properly.

Conte was so confident that just because we won our last games with the same lineup it was bound to happen again.

The way it looked before the own goal, it looked to me that Conte was happy with it going to extra time, and was saving the subs until then. The goal lit a fire under his ass, which should have been lit 35 minutes into the game.

Do you guys understand how bad they fucked us?

De Jong was the tip of their spear, their full backs (Navas and Reguilon ) were pushed high up the field. Even worse ( Ocampso and Suso ) were high and wide as well, it essentially froze Young in place, who only could ever venture forward in rare situations, and to a lesser extent D'Ambrosio. Young and D'ambrosio over the game were faced with a 2 on 1 every time. They doubled on the flanks, it was so bad Gags had to go over and attempt to help Bastoni. That's how wide and deep they got in our territory, with full backs and players going wide. There were only 3 people in defense when they had the ball. Which left Banega and Jordan to just run wild.

Carlos was on Lukaku, Fernando on Lautaro who had to come abit deep, and Kounde as the third free man.

We got raped. Our chances came when they began to inevitably tire after the coverage and pressing they had to do, and it simply was not capitalised on. Instead our master tactician watched it happen.
