Juve close in on Romero?
By Football Italia staff
Juventus are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Genoa defender Cristian Romero for a fee in the region of €30m.
According to Goal.com’s Romeo Agresti, an agreement is ‘now at the finish line’ after Romero managed to ‘fully convince’ Juve, who ‘firmly believe in his potential’.
The transfer expert writes the deal will be finalised in the next few weeks and pocket Genoa ‘around €30m’ with bonuses included.
The 20-year-old only joined the Grifone from Belgrano last summer but has already made 14 Serie A appearances, scoring one goal.
An Argentina Under-20 international, he would go straight into the Old Lady’s squad next season as opposed to return on loan to the Rossoblu.
He can also play at right-back and is described by Agresti as ‘a warrior with a strong personality and ample room for improvement.’
We are moaning here, but imagine to be a Genoa supporter. Your club find 3 fucking rough diamonds: Piatek, Kouame and this Romero.
In less than a year their president will sell them for over 100m and I bet he paid maybe less than 10%. And surely he will not invest all the money back in the squad. At least Cagliari, Sampdoria, Fiorentina keep them for more than a season.
Hopefully we take Kouame back. I can believe he was ours and they throw him away like a broken tooth.
