I think there's a difference between what we formally say, and what the expectation is as such.

This is what I ment with PR trick, you explained it way better :p

Its disgusting though. How can 12m be paid without any expectations? We could bring Spalletti back for a top 4 expectation and not 12m. I still appreciate him and wonder if this is just a PR trick.
Had Conte expected a relegation survival and still deliver a Scudetto afterward I really don't care. Maybe that's just his mind game to relieve the pressure off his players (indeed have been playing better when there's no burden on shoulder).

Without knowing what Juve, Milan, Roma, etc will do in the mercato, if Inter don't invest at all in this mercato, I wouldn't expect another Scudetto. I would hope we win again, but thats different. To not invest in a squad for 2 years in a row and EXPECT trophies is unrealistic. A few unlucky injuries at wrong times, and a season could be lost very easily. There is only so long you can patch up the cracks, sooner or later they will begin to show.

We need a clever mercato. Marotta needs to pull some magic from under his hat, even if it means we have to sacrifice a star. We need an Atalanta style mercato, one of their successful ones.

We invested on Hakimi and Vidal last season, also Eriksen for 27m€ (fee + commission) 6 months before. That's not not investing.

But yeah if Conte sees it's tough without any additions and we are only reducing the squad size, the expectations should not be to win. Expectation in this context means that the management is disappointed if there's no Scudetto or CL quarters and does not want to renew with the coach. All kind of shit can happen anyway during the season, so I wouldn't put too much pressure on coach and the team. They already delivered a Scudetto which is a MASSIVE thing.

Starting a cycle does not mean we should expect 9 Scudetti in a row now. Build on what we have. If it starts to go to shit, then reconsider.

We have too many players that give us nothing and can't be relied upon. We've known this for a while. We need to get rid of them as we have needed to the last few years.

its likely Milan will invest to stay static, or maginal upgrades at best, but bear in mind Donna and Calhanoglu makes it risky for them. Roma are likely to cut. Atalanta probably not, their cost basis is pretty low. Juve will cut but I dont know if they'll have the money to replace. Napoli I'm not sure - I can see them being mostly static with a Koluilabiliy (spelling) sale but an okay-ish replacement.

So, I dont know where the investment pressure is? We'll need to invest to go further in the CL, but one of the big things from Conte is development of players, not a Mourinho-style-just-replace-them-all.

Regarding coaches, I think that things are changing in this market and will be harder for them to find a job, just like it'll be more difficult for anyone in the industry to move on.

Chelsea gave an 18-months contract to Tuchel - apparently with a clause that says he can trigger and renew for I don't know how long, if he makes top 4 this and next season. Before you laugh this off as the minimum for such a club, bear in mind that Chelsea were 9th when Lampard was sacked. And, tbh, 18 months long contract for a coach like Tuchel, in a club like Chelsea, doesn't sound like the norm to begin with.

My point is, Conte won't have a hell of a lot choices this summer. He might be putting pressure on the club lately, but in the end, he must have offers to gain some real leverage. I don't see him shaking the club as hard as last summer.

You never know, at the end of the day.

Yeah I think we can handle the Serie A with the current squad. But then add CL to the mix and it's not so easy anymore. We've gone with ~same starting XI for several months now. Same guys play all the time. That won't and cannot be the case next season. They will be wear down. Our playing style is so demanding that we simply cannot go on with the same players year after year. We need bigger rotation. So there comes the pressure to have adequate rotation options. Because if we want to do well in both comps, we need rotation.

R16 is only two more matches than we played this yera, and tbf, we'll have a less compressed season too.

Yeah but that affects like AT LEAST 4 games in the league. Directly league matches before and after the midweek CL match and then maybe even further, knowing Conte he's so detailed that he plans everything top notch.

It's not like we start from fresh next season. There will be a lot of players taking part in major tournaments this summer.

Also I remember Conte or/and players talking how getting knocked out of the CL really bind everyone together, because there was nothing else than Serie A left. If you have CL also, it's not only physical, it's also mental. Not just one option left for success but two. You have only one and you give everything you ever had. You have two and you maybe are not giving 100% in every play (unconsciously) because you have two things to worry about (I need to be ready for that CL match few weeks from here etc.)

Small things but might be relevant in tight championship race which I expect to be there next season.

Romano - Hakan Çalhanoglu has received a contract proposal from Al Duhail (Qatar) until June 2024 offering €32m net in three years as salary... but he wants to stay in Europe

Çalhanoglu has received many approaches - still in talks with AC Milan to extend his contract.

Romano - Mike Maignan is set to join AC Milan on a permanent deal from Lille, confirmed. The agreement has been reached and the French goalkeeper has just landed in Milano in order to sign his contract.

So, is Donnarumma leaving?

Assume so. I can’t see Milan buying a new goalkeeper and offering Donnarumma a crazy contract on top of that.

Everyone is assuming Juve, but I think both United and PSG could make a play for Donnarumma.

Dont think it would be United, as they will have trouble selling De Gea. And i dont think they want to get rid of Henderson. I think it will be Juventus

Dollaruma as good as gone. Calhanoglu probably next. They don't own Tomori or Diaz (or even Tonali for that matter). They did well to qualify for CL because they're going to need that money and then some just to maintain their squad at the same level it was.

Chelsea would be frothing for Donnarumma if it weren't for Raiola being his agent
