Man, his distribution was excellent today. Best I've seen in a while.

I’ve got to say, his passing from the back has come a LONG way. Honestly it’s underrated part of his game, he’s better with his feet then a lot of people give him credit for and he does it under immense pressure at times. Respect

Spalletti deserves a lot of credit for that tbh.

I remember when Spalletti came and introduced his "play from the back" style. I thought it was completely incompatible with the team we had at the time, Handanovic in particular.

Up until that point, Handanovic had shown zero indication that he was capable of playing in such a manner. He seemed to lack the technique / ball skills, the composure and the sense of mind to play in that "modern" sweeper keeper fashion. He was always a top shot stopper, but using his feet? I wasn't sure he could reliably act as an outlet for recycling possession and be involved in our build up.

Massive, massive credit where it's due though. At 34 years old, the improvement in this regard was nothing short of remarkable. His ball skills, use of his feet, passing under pressure, first touch, composure etc. have all increased drastically. He's still no Ter Stegen of course, but you have to respect such impressive growth at such a late stage in Handanovic's career. And yes, shout out to Spalletti and whoever our GK coach is (or was at the time) for their involvement in his development.

Adriano Bonaiuti. The guy has coached Handanovic since his time in Udinese.

Just noticed he turned 36. Damn, all those years of suffering, and he was there at the back quietly doing his work.

So many players and coaches (and then owners) came and went, but he was the one constant, just like Zanetti. Might not mention it often, but he's definitely done a great job of filling in Pupi's shoes.

Fabio Capello spoke about Antonio Conte’s decision to stick with the same players over the last few matches.

“He understood that the team is now balanced, that they know how to attack and defend. But above all, there is one player who, in my opinion, is allowing the team to play well and that is the goalkeeper. When Handanovic has the ball between his feet, it’s like he is a midfielder and that helps to lure the opposition to come forward and then he can play a long ball or move the ball out of the defense that way.”

I truly hope Handa finally gets this much-deserved trophy :proud: and this is just the beginning!

Actually in the last matches Handanovic has became crucial in our ball possession. He is playing very well with his feets, it would be great for him to win his first trophy!

i've to be honest. Often in these years i didn't like a lot Handanovic performace... Too much times i saw him totally static and absolutely not agile when our opponents scored... And also i didn't like when handanovic shown such a stomachache when inter didn't play well in serie A...

But anyway, i think that after 8 years defencing our team now it's the moment for him to get a trophy! He deserves it!

Random question. Officially speaking do we still have a vice captain? (Like Cordoba to Zanetti)

Would that be Double D or Rano?

Found disappointing that he threw is hands up like fucking Brozo after Lukaku's own goal. You know, instead of acting like a captain and motivating him to try and score in the remaining 10 minutes.

You are not wrong but I understand Handa’s frustration. He has been waiting for so longgggg to lift some deserve trophy, for his constant world class performance throughout years of suffering. And such things happened in the final, 3 goals, none of them was really his fault and he didnt have chance to save anything in that match either. (one center shot pushed at the 46th minute only, iirc)

Time is running out for him. 36yo already.
