Sociedad most likely will beat Benfica at home. Not the best time to rotate/ or balance the team.
I think we need to rotate whenever we play every 3 days and it's the right time for rotation. Our results when we rotate vs. when we don't rotate (taking into account only scenarios where we play every 3/4 days) are much better when rotating.

These are our stats (I am comparing the game in question with the previous game provided it was played 3/4 days prior):

Games we failed to rotate: 1 point out of 6.
Inter Sassuolo 1-2 (2 rotations)
Inter Bologna 2-2 (0 rotations)

Games we did rotate: 13 points out of 15.
Real Sociedad - Inter 1-1 (5 rotations)
Empoli Inter 0-1 (6 rotations)
Salernitana Inter 0-4 (5 rotations)
Inter Benfica 1-0 (4 rotations)
Inter Salzburg 2-1 (5 rotations)

As mentioned, I'm only considering matches where we had previously played a match 3/4 days before. So Torino Inter I did not count as it was after international break although we slightly rotated - we won that game anyway.

Obviously, when we rotate we do lose a lot because Alexis or Frattesi do not offer the same as the player they are coming in for - same goes for De Vrij/Bastoni with Acerbi taking Bastoni's position. However, our results are actually better when we rotate. Even when we don't look as good, it allows us to bring in our starters to affect the match, such as the Salernitana one.

I just don't think this team works well if we play the same 11 every 3 days. We get into a situation where we look ok in one half and absolutely horrible in another - Sassuolo and Bologna games are a good example of that.

Qualification from the group looks reasonably assured. It would take something unthinkable, like 2 points from the last 3 matches, to fail to escape it. Given how tight the Scudetto race is, there's a good argument for rotating here and keeping the starters fresh for Frosinone.

Let's see. Bastoni is fresh, Darmian I guess should start since Pavard is out. Is Cuadrado ready ? If not Dumfries. Could start one of Frattesi/ Klaassen/Asllani trio and Augusto, I guess. Then Sanchez? This match is away and Salzburg is in really a must win situation so it will not be easy.

A bit of rotation here is fine. I’d give Sanchez, Frattesi, and Augusto a chance from the off. Maybe Asllani but I don’t know if I would want to risk it here.

I'm not sure that starting both Asllani and Frattesi at the same time is a good idea.
Yeah, I don't see Inzaghi making two rotations in midfield unless it's due to injury, suspension, or maybe Coppa Italia early rounds.

Almost interchangeable. Not on the same level. Not having the same career. But as for the role and importance to the team, very similar. They can both be frustrating to watch at times, but a lot of times Inter's midfield without Barella or without Guarin looked even worse. They do/did a lot of work that just gets ignored or just isn't noticed.

Alexis instead of Lautaro or Thuram for this game?

The rest is pretty clear.
Darmian - Acerbi - Bastoni trio in defence.
Dumfries - Frattesi - Calha - Mikhi - Carlos in mid.

i always feel so cringe when Inter's facebook page posts goals or any videos from the banter era.
ewww, nobody wants to remember that. makes me puke when i see Guarin, Rocchi, Kuzmanovic...
I was convinced back than that we have a chance for the title.

Corriere reports that the Chilean will be the man to start alongside Inter captain Lautaro Martínez in attack.
Therefore, Thuram would rest

Rest Lautaro, Mkhitaryan and Dimarco, once we secured the game, give Calha, Barella and Acerbi a rest too. Maybe Denzel too. But don't do a weird team with Frattesi and Asllani together, we don't want to make the game more difficult than it needs to be.

You can't just punish Thuram after one bad game.

My starting 11 would be the strongest. Get ahead by 2 and rotate.

Sommer-Darmian-Acerbi- Devrij-Denzel-Augusto- Hakan- Mikhi- Barella- Lautaro and Thuram. Subs-Dimarco, Frattesi, Asllani, Sanchez, Klassen or Arna.

Red Bull are the weakest team in the group. Now is the moment to rotate.

They're definitely better than benfica going by past matches. I would put more in to this and make sure we win to get everything tied up early.

We should just go out and get this group secured we will rotate against Frosinone in between this game and Juve and rightfully so.

Should be a relatively straight game for us with first 11.
