Of course they WANTED him for free. Doesn't mean they wouldn't have given anything for him. I was seeing reports of 5-8mil evaluations + youngsters. Surely that's better than what we have now. We could have also gone after one of their better players like Cragno with a player + cash swap.

As of now he's just dead [over]weight.

I don't know how do they tolerate this kind of behaviour in a professional level. I even said earlier phase of this season that he shouldn't play for us ever again. He was so uninterested and out of duty whenever he played in those matches of this season, don't know why is that but as a professional athlete, especially at his experience, he shouldn't be acting like this.

I mean he isn't among the worst footballers, but he acts like one. He should have been let go tbh, because it's crystal clear that he is here against his will. Could also be that he's affected mentally because of his wife's health problems and so on, but then again, seems like he wanted to remain at Cagliari.

Though I have to admit that last season was impressive under Conte, and things looked promising in the beginning of his adventure because our team looked very motivated and united, but as for now seems like almost everything is broken. I hope that I am wrong.

We probably didn't want to bow down to Giulini's blackmailing. We would have lost like close to 20m€ in book value and while we would have saved his salaries, that would have been a big hit. Financially, also pride-wise it would have been a new low and Inter would have got wrong type of reputation in the market. We already pushed Godin out with no fee to our way (paid severance pay of course to the player) but that was possible because there was no book value in him.

I have a feeling we will end up releasing Nainggolan next summer for free. Then the book value loss for us is only less than 10m€. But it feels bad to pay him the salary and amortize the annual cost of his book value this season given how fucking useless he is to the team.

I believe him stating that he didn’t even really want to leave Roma when he first joined us. That alone tells us his heart was never in it. Had a few cracking goals and some solid performances but in general a wasteful signing. Not the first and definitely not the last our club will make. If Zaniolo hadn’t gotten such horrific injuries in succession, this move would have been all the worse.
