Great that we signed Burdisso :star: He is fits the defensive bill. Though now I wonder whose next to be signed? Davids? Cambiasso? Cesar? or someone else?? I guess only time will tell...

Good news, i heared earlier that he can play as a RB as well, not sure about that though.

So does this mean we will put to rest our interest in Carvalho?

From what I've seen he is a LCB (like Cannavaro) so I'm not so sure if he can play as a RB though perhaps he can? I guess I need 2 watch more games of him playing :p

But why inter.it hasn't mentioned about this transfer yet?

According to Boca Junior´s official website, he is supposedly playing as a right central defender. Which makes him more or less our third right central defender in the squad after Cordoba and Adani.

Then I guess he can play on both sides in the middle of the defense since he played as a LCB for Boca against Once Caldas in the first leg of the Copa L. Final.

Though since were talking about defenders I guess it isn't really that big an issue on which side they play if its in the middle.... so I'm guessing he can play on either side, sorta like Cordoba....

Wonderful signing!!! The only transfer I wanted was a young defender and we got it. IMO, it doesn't matter what position of central defence does he play. He's still young and he has the opportunity of learning to play in both IMO. After all, there isn't much difference in the role. Just need some adaptation to the positioning. Finally a good tranfer!!!

PS: Veron and Burdisso have come. Cambiasso is likely to follow. That's 3 Argentinians. Will another one come??? But this time he's permanently stuck in a bench role.

ok then .... the deal shud be announced very soon .....

is shud also be officialised by inter .... coz the copa lib. is over and boca lost !!! to colombia's club !!!!

MANIZALES, Colombia (Reuters) -- Colombian provincial club Once Caldas pulled off a huge upset by beating defending champions Boca Juniors 2-0 on penalties to win the South American Libertadores Cup in an extraordinary atmosphere on Thursday.

Caldas, knocked out in the first round on their previous two Libertadores appearances, were given a big help by the Argentines, who missed all four of their penalties in the shootout after the second leg of the final ended 1-1.

Last week's first match in Buenos Aires was goalless. Extra time and away goals are not used.

Caldas's title was every bit as surprising as Greece reaching the Euro 2004 final in Portugal earlier in the day.

The Libertadores has only been won by a Colombian team once before in its 44-year history, Atletico Nacional winning in 1989. Caldas are not even considered a major power in the Andean nation, where they have won the championship twice.

Boca were attempting to lift their fourth Libertadores trophy in five years, all under coach Carlos Bianchi.

......................
..............................

Valentierra had Caldas's first penalty saved by Abbondanzieri but Boca fared worse as Schiavi shot over, Burdisso hit the crossbar :proud: and Cangele and Raul Cascini had efforts stopped by goalkeeper Juan Carlos Henao.

In between, Elkin Soto and Jorge Agudelo scored for the home side while Wilmer Ortegon's spot kick was blocked by Abbondanzieri.

Bielsa calls up Boca pair for Copa America

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) -- Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa has called up Boca Juniors goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri and forward Carlos Tevez for the Copa America, an Argentina Football Association (AFA) spokesman said.

Bielsa, who has been picking his squad in dribs and drabs over the last three weeks, has now named 21 of his 22 players for next month's tournament in Peru.

Local media said that Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Burdisso would complete the squad. :(

I wud have wanted all our new players to be in the pre-camp rather than copa ...

I'd like him to be a starter in the Copa America .
He can prove Mancini what he's worth , but if he gets called-up but doesn't play I'll be angry :\ .
