I have supported Newcastle United all my life and I will do until the day I die. It is not about winning trophies, it is the love of the football club, the love of the city and the passion of the sport. We have not won a trophy since 1969, the Uefa cup. Who cares? i will still be at St James Park for every match whether we win, lose or draw. By the way, it was disgusting at the san siro when NUFC visited, my friend had to get stitches in his head after having a coin thrown at him by an Inter Fan.

Hey guys, how sure are you that Wor Martins is going to become a geordie? We've had no official confirmation in the toon but sky sports news did briefly report it.

When Owen gets fit they will be brilliant up front together. With the likes of Duff, N Zogbia, Given, Owen, Martins and Parker about, hopefully it wont be too long until we meet again in the CL, after revenge because we should have hammered you in the San Siro.

10 mil? I'd say it's worth it, though you'll probably get different answers from some. I think you'll be happy with Oba as he's a hard worker and never complains. He needs to refine some parts of his game (shooting, first touch are the big ones)

I'm a HUGE Oba fan, so it'll be a sad day when the deal in completed, but I hope he does well for you lads.

I read in the tyneside guardian the problem was that martins real age was being questioned, this time last year several nigerian newspapers claimed he was born in 1979 but he claims he was born in 1984, the age problem is a big problem with nigerian players e.g. Tijjani Babangida the former ajax player was actually born in 1969 but during he's career with ajax he claimed he was born in 1973.

also kanu is an example he was quite good five years ago with arsenal but recently he's been playing badly and is always injured, according to him he was born in 1976 but i'm pretty sure he's at least 4 or 5 years older.

I you care to read a bit more in this thread, you'll find the information you need confirming that Martins was born in 84, the reason for the misunderstanding, and that the whole age thing in Martins' case, is a load of bs, and at best, an attempt from Newcastle to get the price reduced or something like that.

It wasn't from Newcastle actually. The BBC reported it in 2005, long before we were interested. We just wanted it confirming so we don't waste money like we did with Luque.

Not at all, we're more than willing to pay up cash, we always do. However, it is better to be completely sure. I wouldn't pay 11 million quid for a 28 year old Martins. But "Wor Oba" at 21? Yes Please!
