There are great captains who'd been receiving lots of red cards, Sergio Ramos is one of them. Nobody made him apologize because they know he is their captain and they owe him a lot for the success they achieved. Yes, he had been leaving his team 1 man down but he been making up for it with his outstanding performances too. Don't get me wrong, I hate him too, but I respect him for the captain he was. That's his sacrifice - his own reputation for his club's success.

By punishing Nico, the club just lowered his authority in front of other players and perhaps it alienated him from the potential arm band even farther. Now he will reconsider his attitude and believe me it will reflect negatively on his dedication too.
At Inter we aim to be like Zanetti not Ramos.

I am with Nico. His reaction to Militao's push was natural and those who are criticising him for that are probably emotionless amoebas in their lives.

That Militao shitbag intentionally pushed him so that Nico ends up hitting the ad screen which could cause some injuries. And if you are advocating for him and blaming Barella I am really ashamed to be an interista. Fuck you those spineless tolerant pussies who always blame their own player but not the opponent's. Seriously nobody cares if you admit Barella was wrong and Militao was right, nobody gives a flying shit about your tolerance. Nobody is going to award you with a trophy for being a gentle tolerant pussy!
Barella did apologize. It means he himself admitted he had been 100% wrong. But his fans are still saying he was right, wtf?!?

No, mate. He CAN be angry, can head-to-head Militao (like Lukaku-Ibra) but he CANNOT punch other players intentionally. He is receiving our armband to be the calmest person on the field ffs.

Is the reaction understandable? Yes. Does he have to restrain himself if he wants to be captain? Yes.

Quite simple, he shouldn't react like that. Especially when there are talks he will be our future captain. And I don't want to hear anything about ''winning mentality''. What if we needed a point to go through yesterday? He could have screwed us over. Winning mentality has absolutely nothing to do with these kind of actions. I think his ''bad'' form has something to do with it because he looks very irritated the last few weeks, more than usual.

My point was, the club shouldn't have forced him to apologize as it was mentioned by Inzaghi in his interview if I understood him correctly. If he did apologize by himself, then that's his choice, I have no problem with that. But if I'm planning to be the captain, I wouldn't have apologized. I would have made Perisic, Dzeko and Lautaro apologize for not scoring goals when there were decent chances.

Man you can't be serious... Lol would love to see your reactions to vidal getting sent off last year against them. All players abide by the same rules.

Then it won't be long before the club starts looking for a new captain..

I appreciate your post and I understand it. But people are born differently, they have different nature. Some people are born impulsive, explosive and others careless, hence calm. Barella's gesticulations stem from his genuine care for the club, it means he is NOT indifferent like many of our players used to be before Conte's arrival. Heck some of them still walk like mercenaries, when Lautaro gets bullied by defenders, none of the players run to support him. The lad always left alone surronded with bigger guys. Why? Cause they give no shit and that's why they are calm, that's why they are nice.

To each their own, I prefer players with complete dedication albeit it often results in over-reaction rather than those nice and quiet so called professionals. It shows they have character, it shows they have anger to win. And I don't like the fact they made him apologize in front everyone. It's a humiliation and such punishments will slowly destruct his genuine warrior character. Fuck that shit, they should have let it go.
I understand what you are sayin and i agree with you that players need to show some fighting spirit, but the fact that he yell and all his hands movments to the other playrs not helping at all, like you, i also like players that dont afraid to step up face to face with some another asshole, like vidal, toro or barella, but when he use it to his friends on the team, he have a fucking problem that he need to fix, try to remeber how much he did to hakimi last year, this season it got much worst and he pretty much yell at everyone..

You're having a fucking laugh man.

Alienating him?

You set discipline by showing there are no double standards

If him acting poorly impacts negatively on his dedication, then he can fuck right off. I expect someone who put in a shitshow like he did last night to be even more dedicated and committed to proving himself.

I'm not trying to be rude, because I have no issue with you and you're a great poster on FIF, but that post you just made is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on here

No one made Ramos apologise?
Man you seem to have not udnerstood my point. Why are you bringing up those off the pitch actions? Ramos is apologizing for his brutal tackle which is probably motivated intrinisically. Barella's incident is different, he didn't receive red card for a dangerous tackle or beating Militao's face. It was actually Militao played dangerously and could have injured Nico, why he shouldn't be reacting like that? Like wtf man, even if they now piss on top of his head, he still must keep his mouth shut or what?

It wasnt 'that' dangerous, it was a shoulder barge, albeit into advertising boards. It happens fairly regularly.

But, more importantly, he's trying to get him to lash out. And Barella fell for the bait.

Why shouldnt he react like that? Because in the laws of football, its a straight red card and a three match ban.

His lack of composure is the problem. By being baited into that, he's given away any chance we had of finishing first - that's 10m euros of prize money we've now missed out on. He's also made it much harder for us to progress in the CL knock outs.

Thats why he shouldnt react like that. Because he's hurt this team, and you could potentially make an argument that, right now, he's hurt this team more than he's benefitted it this season.

So, back to your original post, thats why all that demotivational stuff is bullshit - its on him to prove he's worthy for the team, not for the team to prove its worthy for him.

Ok let me put it straight. I don't want Barella to be our captain, I rather prefer Skriniar although he is not perfect for that role either.
My point was, if this fucking club wanted to give the armband to Barella, they should have not made him apologize because that would deteriorate his authority over other players. Do you see the point? you don't hold a person you regard as a future captain accountable in public.

Dont agree in the slightest. The players need to see there is no double standard. It's PRECISELY the captain who needs to be accountable in public, to set an example.

Look at politics, for example. Trump didnt hold any level of public accountability - what did that do? It was a fucking disaster and probably the single most corrupt US presidency in recent decades.

Accountability is very important, and starts at the top.

LOL are we seriously discussing wether Barella is captain material or not based on this one fucken game?
Dude is in his 3rd season with us and played like a captain should in 99% of these games one fuckup and he s not captain material?

Yes he should have stayed calm, yes it was stupid and it was unnecessary but this should not put barellas qualities/character in question.
First of Militao got what he wanted it was an unnecessary foul that was only done to piss of Barella and maybe get a reaction from him. So i can see why barella is pissed.
Also barellas actions after the incident show me he knew that he fucked up, like he went to apologize and there even was a short hug with Eder which imho all was only done in the hope that he can avoid the red card.

But Barella was one of those who wasted a decent chance.

Honestly, the problem with Barella is his petulance. This is hardly the first time - how many times have we joked about the guaranteed first half booking for him, for example?

Composure is a very important part of being a captain and a leader in general - you need to be the calm head when things go to shit, thats probably the single most important quality of any leader. It's NOT about being the best player, the nicest one guy in the locker room, or anything like that. It's about whipping people into shape. That doesnt mean Keane (for example) was a bad captain - he was a very motivated guy and knew the right culture and attitude to instill.

Composure and temperment are critical and Barella is poor at both, last night was just a shockingly bad example of that in particular.

Ok guys, I am a bit different interista, I have specific preferences. I am failing to deliver my opinion perfectly, let's move on. If Barella was wrong, well let it be so. But for me we lost not only because of his red card, but also because some of our players failed to score in the first half when the score was still even.

of course we didnt only lose because of barella, its not like he did a muntari (Vs catania).

but his actions cost us a lot last night, and the ramifications will go through until feb/march when he's disqualified for our CL Knock out games most likely.

And that's why he's a fucking idiot.
