I'll stay a pessimist and say let's wait for December. Anything can still happen.

One good game and...

When he manages to bench Gagz and Vecino consistently then I'll have something to celebrate. For now lets strive for consistency, fewer rash tackles and less mood swings.

Both have exceeded my expectations.

I'm not going to pretend I'm a Sensi expert but in the handful of matches I saw of him previously, I didn't expect him to pose this much of an attacking threat, and more importantly, so reliably. His ball retention skills and game sense have always been visible and he ran circles around our midfield playing almost as a DM for Sassuolo. I remember him being difficult to dispossess and keeping things flowing smoothly.

Likewise, Barella had shown glimpses of class here and there. His eye for a pass, his ability to pick out a runner, or switch play effortlessly, his running in midfield etc. these were always on display at Cagliari. But it just wasn't enough tbh.

Massive credit to him though, because like Sensi, he's taken it up a notch at Inter and risen to the challenge so far. Possessing nice skills and good footballing IQ is one thing, but being able to make your mark on a game is another thing all together and much more difficult. I didn't expect them to be able to be so influential, so quickly.

One game at a time, though. Many a player has failed to live up to expectations after a great start. In between his missed 1v1 chance and his 3 or 4 row-z shots against Prague, dude could work on his shooting though.

I can agree that Sensi improved here but Barella has not even reached his Cagliari levels yet.

Same picture could be used but for Candreva. Same picture could be used for people who made their minds up for Barella before he even had a chance.

Going to echo some of the posts before. His first few games were quite poor, but I feel ever since he came on against Slavia, he's been on a different level and probably inching our Sensi as our best player in those games that followed. Absolutely stunning yesterday in all areas. I was worried that with his style of play he might play a too rushed game, but actually I think it was probably his best ever game in his first ever true test in biggest arena - it almost looked as if it's easier for him to play against top level team.

With Rocchi confirmed as the ref on Sunday, Conte needs to spend the next few days slapping Barella every time he even looks like he's going to tackle someone.

Yeah, I have a fear Rocchi will give yellow to Barella pretty early in the game just like happened against Barcelona. And this time when there is a possibility to give that second card, like yesterday, this time the ref won't hesitate.

This kid is Lionheart.
He also has a good head on his shoulders, the early yellow could have been disastrous but he kept his cool .

He is starting to mould into everything we were expecting from him , bigger and better things to come

I loved his energy and determination to play. Combine that with actually knowing how to pass, shoot, and run then you've got yourself a midfielder. Compare that to the many "midfielders" we've had who regularly shit their pants when they receive the ball at their feet, let alone in a game like Barcelona.

I'm happy with his performance even with the loss. I know that he'll improve a lot. He has what it takes.

Good to see Conte has the faith in him now. To play him the entire 90 mins against Barca, especially after the early yellow card, that was something.
