This stadium thing is heavily connected to the club sale. I've been saying this for quite some time and still think as long as there is nothing tangible with the stadium, club won't be sold. But once there is, sale might happen.

Milan`s ideas in San Donato. Not a final project. Stupid Milano city idiots they will have a rotten empty San Siro and the surroundings if we build our own too. Those idiots probably think that Meazza will be Milano`s own Colosseum in 20 years that tourists will come to a visit :D. San Donato , it looks like is a way better location than Rozzano. Linate airport is also near. And they seem to build new Milan headquarters there too , which is a good idea because current Milan HQ is the most disgusting building in Milano centre from architect pov.

The objective of the proposal is to generate significant value for the area, which would then benefit from a sustainable and integrated development, thanks to a series of upgrade works. These include the creation of a new "Gate to Milan" to the South, an East-West connection from San Donato to the Chiaravalle Abbey and its parks, easier usability and services for the Parco Sud, and orderly access to the possible future site.

The proposal also aims to create a single infrastructure hub in the Milan area (railway, metro, motorway) in an urbanised area with a previously approved Integrated Intervention Plan (I.I.P.), while simultaneously regenerating a derelict urban site that is not easy to resolve. In particular, a key factor of the proposal is the promotion of sustainable mobility and public transport with improvement works on the existing infrastructure network, which would involve the railway station, the metro station and the road network, as well as a new system of pedestrianised walkways and cycle paths.

In terms of the total size of the massing, the request for Urban Development lists the same gross surface area of 108,000 m2, already guaranteed by the I.I.P approved in 2021, for a space dedicated largely and most notably to sporting activities, with a variety of multifunctional facilities and services set within 235,000 m2 of green space, compared to the approximately 80,000 m2 of the previous proposal.

The Club has entrusted CAA ICON, a leading international project management and strategic advisory firm, to carry out the implementation of the project, while MANICA, one of the world's most prestigious architecture studios, will be the Design Architect tasked with developing plans for a new stadium and the entire entertainment district.

The project hypothesis for the new stadium - the concept of which can be presented at a later stage of the planning process and is therefore not the object of the document presented today - is to construct an innovative, sustainable and multifunctional facility, which can accommodate around 70,000 spectators.

The project aims to build the most sustainable stadium in Italy and one of the most sustainable in Europe by attaining LEED Gold certification, utilising energy-saving measures and using renewable energy sources, as well as implementing a water recycling system. It will also become a benchmark for accessibility, ensuring that fans with disabilities can watch matches safely from all sections of the ground. In order to guarantee supporters a comfortable and exciting experience, the design will include spacious seating, close proximity of the stands to the pitch, and a wide range of food & beverage concessions.

Alongside the stadium, the project hypothesis also sees the facility hosting the new Club Museum, an AC Milan store, the Rossoneri's new headquarters, a hotel, and an entertainment district, as well as an Energy Centre for the production of sustainable power. The synergy of all of these elements would characterise an area of great architectural and urban value, with a vast array of services, events and cultural programmes to serve the local and wider community.

San Donato is a shit area

Linate Only matters for Italians as it’s mostly a domestic.. for international visitors it’s not really much of an advantage as they arrive at Malpensa

But this is what both clubs have to deal with. Obv a more central is always better location, but the italian grandpas controlling the city are against this idea. So they will have a Meazza that will grow roots and will be forgotten and without big income to the city coffers.

This is a big project for Milan and they have been making these moves fast. Bought the land, guess what? He`s a milanista. San Donato council, guess what? A milanista, said no to a public opinion.

The construction might start in 2025, 2024 will be used for pojecting and all the permits.

Scaroni just said a gentlemans "fuck you " to Sala. Through the flowers If I may.

I m just not convinced by this theory, like imho the while financing of the project is gonna be a lot harder for us pre sale than after sale... On top of that if your the buyer your gonna inherit the zhangs financing as in you cannot amend the deals. Also you get 0 say in where the stadium is and how it looks.
If I m gonna spend 1.3bio on a club i might want to have a say in these things and getting in after a deal is struck is only gonna make this harder.
Also arguably the pressure to sell for suning gets a lot lower once everything is settled for the stadium cause then we d have a pretty clear path to break even.

Of course on the other hand with a deal inplace you know what you get and you dont have to battle italian bureaucrats and politicians..

Reading the interview of Scaroni, he speaks of San Siro being still on the table, it all seems like both Milan and Inter are still trying to bluff their way to getting the green light for the San Siro.

Rozzano is perfectly fine, it right at mediolanum forum and milanofiori, plenty of hotels and conference facilities in the area, plenty of parking, freeway right at the door. It is absolutely no coincidence Inter look in that area, the council seem interested in the project…

I’ll pick Rozzano/Assago any day over San Donato frankly.

It’s not sexy but it’s fine

Scaroni's words are just a facade. The land has been bought. They are already fully focused for 70k stadium permits as of right now the current project on that same land was way smaller scale and you need to have new agreements. Milan ( and us) knows that having still a dialogue over Meazza with Milano City council is like running on a treadmill.

Maybe I expressed myself poorly. What I meant is what you said, that the actual stadium will be built by the new owners. But Zhangs need to find the stadium deal first. So that the new owners know they can build the stadium. They have the deal, agreements, permits, etc.

Without stadium deal in the pocket, it's WAY too risky to buy Inter at current valuations. Even with the stadium, it's a loooooong time before the whole investment starts to pay off.

Milan mayor hints that Inter could stay at San Siro

Beppe Sala, the mayor of Milan, suggested that it’s ‘more feasible’ to renovate and fix up the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for Inter, should their intercity rivals leave for a new stadium.

The Rossoneri recently presented their new stadium project, hoping to build the facilities at the San Donato area of the city. Feasibility assessments are currently ongoing, and the club are moving forward with confidence, keen to leave the city owned Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the near future.

Inter have also been hoping to build their own stadium for a number of years now and briefly worked with Milan on a joint project, before splitting off to go their own way. One of the Nerazzurri’s ideas is to build a new home in the Rozzano neighbourhood of the city.

Speaking to La Repubblica via Calciomercato.com, mayor of Milan Sala first expressed his frustration that the current Stadio Giuseppe Meazza will be given protected status by Emanuela Carpani, Lombardy’s superintendent for cultural heritage.

The restriction placed is a shameful thing. If you place a cultural restriction on a place where football is played, then let’s extend it to 90% of Milan’s buildings. All the mayors agree that the Superintendents have excessive power.”

Sala then discussed what’ll happen next, considering that the plans for San Siro have now changed.

Not being able to tear down the old San Siro means that the new stadium will not be able to be built next to it, because two functioning stadiums would lead to 150 to 200 days of events per year. Who’s going to tell the residents of the neighbourhood?

As a Milanese, I’m sorry if Milan go to build their facility in San Donato. The fact remains that if fixing the Meazza with two teams playing there is impossible, doing it with just one is more feasible.

“I continue to think that San Siro has its reason to exist for the future too, even if it won’t be an eternal future.

“In 2026 there will be the inaugural ceremony of the Winter Olympics and that year the Champions League final will most likely be at San Siro. In short, it is a stadium that is anything but dead.”
The nevernding saga..

Italy and Turkey officially won a joint bid for the 2032 Euros. We have to hope this helps facilitate a new stadium for us.

If anything, this means that there'll be almost nothing about new infrastructure in Italy.

Maybe Rome gets a new stadium and that's it.

The geography doesn't even make sense.. i hate these joint bids.

Netherlands and Belgium, fine
Switzerland and Austria, fine
UK and Ireland, fine

Poland and Ukraine, bit of a stretch
Italy and Turkey, quite ridiculous
