If you've been watching Hockey as long as you claim to have been, you'd know for sure a third line defenseman would not have as big of an impact on the team like you're claiming he is.

And I don't have a Murray jersey or have any extra love for him. He's just a simple defenseman that was on the ice to protect our net/stars and energize the team with timely hitting. I didn't expect him to score 50 points in a season, or make Joe Thornton passes. I expected him to dump the puck whenever he got it, pinch in the offensive zone and make sure that he was going to finish his check and punish the opposing player for clearing the puck.

I'm going to be facetious here but you claiming the offense improved dramatically because of his departure, is like claiming the Niner's offense is amazing because of Patrick Willis. Both had no part in the offense of the team.

He was a 6-7th defensemen meaning his offensive contribution was minimal. Blaming Murray for the cold streak Marleau was on, the complacency of Thornton, or the lackluster performance of the 2nd and 3rd line in scoring is unfathomable dude.

And honestly if you can pull the stat on how many offensive zone turnovers Murray had and compare that to the rest of the defensemen, and if he's long ahead of everyone else, I'll gladly shut up. However based on what I remember this season, he hardly had the puck on the blueline, and whenever he did, he did his job, which was switch it or dump it back deep.
(Also I don't count dumping the puck a turnover.)

Was Murray over his peak? Yes?
Was it about time to trade him or get him off the books? Probably.
Did we get a great return on him? Absolutely.
Did the team as a whole play much better after his trade? Hell yea they did.
Was it because he was holding them back? No way in hell.

And btw that quote doesn't mean much. Who was he on the ice with? As a third line defensemen primarily playing on the PK I doubt much of his ice time was with the first two lines. So naturally with how shitty our depth was throughout the season that isn't surprising at all.

He was paired on the ice way too often with Stuart, who are both defensive defensemen. His CORSI stat of allowing shots was poorer than every other Sharks Dman. As a 7th Dman who's contract was near expiring, it clearly was time to go.

Our offense has improved, because we're stuck in our own zone more times than not when he's on the ice. Sure it's partly not his fault, but it's not a coincidence. It's addition by subtraction.

I thank him for all the things he's done for the team, but I won't miss him.

San Jose was clearly the better team in the series, I can give you that.

But the overall officiating in the NHL has been nothing but a train wreck.

And this.....

It was a clean shoulder to shoulder hit tbh...
Abusive language = game misconduct

I will agree that call was a little bad. But at the same time, Daniel Sedin shouldn't have hit the post in the 2nd period. This game ends 4-3 to the Canucks if that doesn't happen. Total Karma for Kevin Bieksa to take the penalty to tie the game....

I can't believe your Habs laid an egg in those final minutes..... I did have the Sens winning the series (scroll back) but not in potentially 5 games.... Wow.

Yup, just to have me rage in it the whole time you bastards! Lol

Solid series from the Sharks. Glad our Pplay has been lethal, if it can keep up its 30% success rate, we'll be a serious threat.

I almost feel bad for the Canucks because maybe 1/6 or 1/7 of the penalties called on them were questionable..........lol screw them though, glad we tossed them from the playoffs.

I really hope the Red Wings can upset the Hawks, as I'd much rather face the Kings/Blues.

I would like to think they can come back and make it to a game 7, as it has been a close series except for the 3rd period of game 3. But that is out the window without Price.

I got to take the blame for the loss. I missed the first 2 periods while at Costco. They were up and coasting along in control. I get home for the 3rd and they shit the bed.

Fahk.

I have no sympathy for Vancouver. Remember that icing call that wasn't an icing in 2011? I think the refs were giving it back ;). Daniel Sedin needs to bury that shot where there was an open net. Either way, there was a nasty head shot by Derek Roy.

I want LA personally... not into STL or Chicago... (Wings need to upset Anaheim btw, not Chicago haha).

Sorry yes I meant the ducks so we can avoid the hawks lol my boss walked into my cube while I was typing that so I lost my train of thought when I got back to typing it.

I think I would rather face LA too, but I definitely don't fear St. Louis as much as I did last year.

Because they're the Leafs. Not a nice way to end a game... but predictable. Rask stole that OT win.... and it's more pathetic the leafs traded him.

Leafs forced a game 7. And the Sharks got the matchup I wanted in the Kings. Sweet.
