Winning here puts us in such a good position to possibly extend our lead at the top of the table next week with Napoli, Juve, Atalanta, Milan all playing each other.

Really good game, did well to survive that opening Napoli onslaught.
yeah and we already have played away to juve napoli and atalanta which are probably away games that i would include in a "top 5 difficult away games" ranking. Lazio at the olimpico in some week and we have already completed 4 of it. Of course there are still other difficult games like at Bologna or Firenze but they should be easier (at least on paper)

We still have Lazio at The Olimpico on the 17th, but we’ve managed to overcome Roma (at home), Atalanta and Napoli (cursed away fixtures) and drawn to Juve away.

All while securing CL promotion with two rounds remaining.

I don't think that was a penalty, extremely extremely soft one if given.
Every fan expects a penalty for a minor touch in the box.

Sickening what's become of the sport after the introduction of VAR and how people behave on the internet nowadays.

barella scoring the second goal against last years scudetto winners... someone got a dejavu? when he was celebrating i really had to think about that moment. Hope that things will end like in that season.

It was not a pen. Contact was too soft and sideway. But people are saying the first goal should have been disallowed because there was a fault in the buildup (Lautaro was holding a Napoli player with both arms).

Watching Napoli the difference is incredible to me. How much they miss Spalletti. Had to watch this one after taking the wife out, so after the fact without checking the score, which was incredibly hard. But for me if I see a win then I skim the game.

And for Inter I am amazed by the way this team has come together. They are greater than the sum of the parts. It is beautiful and hope it continues. :giggle:

Excellent performance. One of our best so far this season. The only downside is the injuries to our Dutchmen. Hopefully they’re not too serious.

We are Inter, nothing is ever won before it’s mathematically so.

Yes we play well, but we seen that before, excellent fall and then all crumble to nothing because we can’t play even half decent for a whole month because of some odd unexplainable reaccuring issues around February.

We will know better if we stop that issue, if we can play well for an actual whole season, then yes no one can or rather shouldn’t stop us, but we all know things aren’t that simple with Inter, we are if anything out own worst enemy.

Well, my point is that our team has made improvements in many aspects of the game which is already too obvious.

It's not only about us playing well. We are winning matches even while we perform below average. There's been a couple of matches while we have been completely ass but still won. That's a great fact because in the past we struggled to escape difficult times and also we neglected matches that weren't even as difficult as last night's one for example.

Last night was a statement win which gives clear signs of what this team is made of. No team can escape great form for entire season, there will be ups and downs but the thing is, you have to overcome these difficult moments to achieve objectives, and so far Inter has shown everything what it takes to win the title. I even said you never know in football, but judging things so far, we are doing better than everyone else in the league.

Stats won't show the whole picture everytime, but in this situation it explains everything about Inter. We are defensively solid as rock, we are very unpredictable in attack and also we could maintain our calmness throughout the match, no matter the situation.

Hopefully next week will be even better for us. Gobbi is playing against Napoli, and Milan will face Atalanta. If we keep our momentum, we might create a higher gap. Let's give our team the credit they deserve. In the past, we've been mentally fragile af. Well, I can't say the same anymore. Teams will have to spit blood in the pitch to defeat us.

I'm not even gonna put Sassuolo defeat in the discussion. That was such a fluke win that could have went both ways very easily. It was lack of concentration and kind of arrogance by our side. But I'm glad it happened earlier which could give a sign to our team that if we don't get our shit together in every match, we'll get punished even by lower teams of the league.

Yea, but to be fair Jube at home is bit more tricky.
We rarely win against Napoli away too. We were a bit better than Juventus and many other days we would've won.

I've listened to the commentators they were saying in last 10 away games against Napoli we only won in one of Conte years

You can’t judge that at this point for that it’s just way too early. we are now about 1/3 of the way through the season, we have seen smaller teams and Lazio blasting through till about this point and even half way through before. The team that wins is the one that can avoid dropping their steam too much once you pass that point and it’s been a recurring thing that we looses steam around February, we lost largely a scudetto on that account a couple of seasons ago. You don’t win because you are necessarily the best you win because your the most consistent, with fewest amount and short periods where you drop performance. Juve won several championships largely because they where the more consistent team in the league and not necessarily because they where the team that could output the highest level.

We need to see how the team handles tiredness, when they don’t have the form they have now, once we know that we can make assertions whether a scudetto is realistic.

The small bumps on the road so far is just that bumps on the road, most of it was early in season where form can messy up things.

We know how we stand once we start loosing energy, not a moment before currently we live on the fact we are still relatively early in the season so can steamroll our opponents, but we aren’t going to output what we do now, how do we perform when our stamina drops we largely don’t know.

In current Napoli's stint in Serie A (since the past 16 years), we've won them exactly once. Conte first season.

Napoli hasn't been current title holders or stronger side vs us probably ever apart from last season's away match, and still we haven't been able to win them there except once.

This was a massive statement win.

Yeah. That's true. Before our win in Conte's first season (1-3 win, Lukaku doppietta and Lautaro) the last time we had won at San Paolo was with Ronaldo.

We can count as lucky with the refs' decisions on this game.

Two important decisions that could be game-changing have gone in our favor.
That should probably be a foul by Lautaro.
And the situation for a penalty was soft, but we got penalties like that.

There’s only this much noise about those decisions because we won.

Lautaro passed the ball to Barella, and then Lobotka obstructs him. Not a foul, IMO.

Penalty? Yeah, maybe, soft though.

I don’t remember this much outrage after the Atalanta game where Mkhi was denied an obvious penalty and Scamacca’s goal should never have stood because Dimarco was fouled by Lookman. And that’s because we won DESPITE the bullshit.
